The location was very good, very central, close to shops and restaurants, and easy to find from the bus stop 6 Flybus drop-off (which is also a bus stop for getting tours). The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a good selection and the dining area was pleasant. I wasn't sure about the bed but it was surprisingly comfortably. Also handy having the power cube in the room - meant I didn't need an adapter for charging my phone! The heating in the room was rather powerful - despite it being the end of November, I had it switched off most of the time! There is a pub across the street which is quite noisy until about 2330 but with the window closed I could barely hear it, so that was all good.

A few more fruit options at breakfast would have been nice but there was enough other food to keep me going!

Staff was wonderful. Super helpful and friendly. Good Internet. Comfortable beds. And the Location!!!! Best possible location ever!!!! Stayed there 4 days and went on an 8 day tour and then returned. They greeted me with a Welcome Back treat of macarons. Wonderful gesture. Loved them for it

Some steps outside the building and to get to the elevator. I didn't know about them. And maybe difficult with luggage. Otherwise perfectly manageable

The hotel is located in the main street of Reykjavik, all the most important spots are close to the hotel. There is a lot of restaurants and coffees close to the hotel. Bus stop #14 is about 6 minutes walking. The Hotel was very clean, the staff was very friendly and open to talk and clarify all my concerns and questions about the city. I will stay here in my next visit to Iceland. And additional point, the price vs the experience is well balanced, I love this hotel.

Because it's located in the main street, there are some people during the weekends that are drunk and are walking around the street breaking glasses and bottles. For a family this will be a red flag if they stay in this hotel. I know that the city is going to work and fix this problem.

This was our second visit, coming back after a trek across the Highlands of Iceland. The hotel let us leave our our non-trek luggage with them which was so convenient. When we checked into our room, it was larger than the first time and we had a tray with 3 macrons and a thank you note -- really nice touch! Others have commented that the 3 steps into the hotel and then 3 more up to the elevator are a pain; I don't know if I'd go that far, just be aware. We were traveling with two med backpacks, a large suitcase and a large rolling duffel, remember we were going on a trek, and we aren't spring chickens, but it was very manageable. Breakfast is good, lots of traditional Icelandic options, not typical American fare so don't expect it. We always left full and ready to face the day.

Great location for accessing the city and sites on foot. Included a lite breakfast which was nice. Beds were comfy.

No parking included and right off the pedestrian streets we had to carry our luggage a little ways. Not a huge deal but something to be aware of. Had to park on the street overnight which wasn’t too expensive but we had to move the car a couple times so that we could unload luggage and then park longer in a cheaper location. We didn’t need the car once we settled in. It is right next to a bar with live music and they play late. It was pretty loud. They ended at midnight so if you’re up late it may not bother you.

Breakfast was perfect. Just enough choice, well prepared, great breakfast room, all in all a very happy experience. However, I must go out of my way to comment on the staff. The reception staff --- all of them --- were amazing. They went out of their way to make sure we were well looked after and I would go so far as to say I have never met such a good team of reception staff every anywhere. Thank you to each of them and particularly to the young lady who was on the night shift when we returned to Iceland from Denmark (Oct 6), who managed to find me something for my upset tummy. Outstanding. Ten stars if I can give them that much.

Nothing could have been better. We do not have a single complaint about anything big or small. Thank you.

Location - 10/10 , smack dab in the middle of the city. Breakfast - 09/10 , really good breakfast- could use a bit more variety but it was fresh and good nonetheless. Room - 09/10 , I would give 10/10 but the hotel is right in front of a bar/ music venue/ old book store where they play music till late and understandably it gets a little noisy, nothing too difficult to deal with though. I booked the hotel despite knowing about this noisy aspect.

All great , just you get what you pay for. nice hotel. Does the job well.

You can hear music from the bars, luckily it stopped at 11pm. Not the hotel's fault, but bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper Breakfast selection could have been better but always found something to eat

I had a great stay here! I liked that its location was very central and easy to find once I arrived on the bus from the Keflavik airport. The building (and my room) had character which I really appreciated, and it was in very easy walking distance of Rainbow Street, Hallgrimskirkja, Harpa, and lots of restaurants and shops! Breakfast was good and filling, and the staff were very kind. It wasn't super fancy, but it was just what I needed and I'm grateful for my experience here.

It's not the hotel's fault, and I knew this going in, but it might be helpful for others to be aware that this is in a busy central area and there was some nightlife noise later into the evening because of that. It didn't bother me (I'm used to city noises!) although keep in mind I was there on two weeknights, but just something to be aware of! I really liked this hotel so wouldn't have necessarily chosen differently if I had to do it again, but I also think it could've been nice to stay somewhere a few blocks more away from the city center - maybe on a future visit!

The location of the Hotel is very Central to everything and within walking distance to points of interest, Bonus supermarket and bus stops. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. The Bar fridge was great to hold all my snacks. Bed and pillow were very comfortable and liked the ability to open the window for fresh air. Having free Wifi in the room was a huge bonus. The breakfast room was an inviting space and the selection of food was great, a perfect start to each morning before venturing out on day trips. A wonderful experience and I will definitely return to Central Hotel Skjaldbreid.
