Breakfast was very tasty with several hot options available (not buffet, but very filling, and the continental cold portion is all you can eat so no complaints here!). Location and view were very good, near the bus and train stations (few minutes' walk) and staff was available all the time at the check in desk. The room itself was fairly spacious.

Rooms are rather warm, but they did provide me with a small fan upon request so that helped a lot. Also, the corridors have a strange configuration. To get from the elevator to my room, I had to open four different closed fire doors in the corridor each time and go up and down a few steps randomly as well, which was inconvenient especially when checking in and out with luggage. I've never seen this anywhere else before.

Great location, not even 5 minutes to the train station and right by Eyre Square, where all the busses leave from. 5 minutes to the Latin quarter, everything in easy walking distance. Staff was friendly and helpful. The bar has live music five nights a week, which was a very nice touch. Room was huge, comfortable, and very clean. The bath was also large. Beds very comfortable. The house is lovely, very tastefully decorated. The outside is being renovated right now, but we weren't affected at all. Would absolutely recommend this hotel.

It was a bit expensive, but this might be due to the art festival that was in town. Other hotels were similar in price. The cooked breakfast was great, but the continental selection could do with a bit of updating, like including more veggies and more healthy cereals, and adding porridge to the cooked breakfast selection. Our room was facing the busy road, but we were on the 4th floor, so the noise was manageable. If I could recommend one thing, more storage in the bathroom would be a blessing, the bathroom is huge and there's one tiny shelf, and the sink is really small as well. Adding even one more shelf would be very helpful. Also, adding a minifridge would be doable given the size of the room.

We enjoyed our staycation in this lovely hotel just a few minutes walk from Eyre square. Great breakfast, clean room with good shower. Heater was manually set in room which we found great as sometimes hotel rooms in general can be too hot at night.... We found that the car park on site is cramped so make sure to allow time for this on departure especially if you are leaving early and were first in for parking. This was not a biggy for us as by the time we picked up rest of shopping (circa 15 to 20 minutes later) our space was cleared for exit by hotel staff.... I would highly recommend for price paid mid week at this hotel with excellent location..

Older property but the room was comfortable and the food served downstairs at the bar/restaurant was fantastic!

Car park is very tight

Galway is a beautiful city but small and easily walkable from one end to the other. The Western is located right next to Eyre square, which is the landmark we used navigate around. It's a huge hotel and full of character, in no way at all the type of generic standardised hotel that dominates short city breaks. The bar literally took my breath away, so large and stylish, a great range of beer and local whiskey plus staff that were friendly and knowledgeable PLUS they had a top quality traditional band playing jigs, reels and ballads 2 of the 3 nights we stayed. My daughter and I loved the Western to pieces! We will defo be booking again soon. Great job folks!

I loved it all, a great wee spot!

I had booked a twin room for me and my sister. When we arrived we were upgraded to one of their Apartments, which was excellent. We had 2 double rooms, bathroom, Kitchen/ diner/ lounge with TV, coffee machine, washing machine, kettle, toaster and cooker. There was even a dishwasher! We were very happy with the Apartment - our only disappointment was that we were only in Galway for 2 nights - would have happily stayed 2 weeks! The staff were lovely and always managed to get us in the parking under hotel. It was in an excellent location - only 5 min walk into centre - which was far enough away to be quiet. Would definitely recommend The Western and St Bridget's Apartments and can't wait to stay again.

The hotel is 3 minutes away from the city center and has a parking lot underneath, which is super useful. The room we got was spacious and the amenities as expected. The stuff was very kind and supportive. The breakfast nook is a bit limited in space and choices, however, you can order a british / irish breakfast a la cart; oddly enough, if you order anything different than a black coffee or tea, you need to pay a supplement. Given that this is a 4* hotel, these types of things should be already included in the package.

We have been waken up in the middle of the night by people knocking on every door on the floor; the security guard intervened almost (key here) immediately, but you would expect a bit more regard for the guests.

We booked a double and single room in advance. A couple of days before the trip we requested 3 single beds. The hotel kindly offered us a larger room with a double and 2 single beds at an extra cost of €50 which we were very grateful for

Breakfast service was buffet fruit and cereal, ordered hot food off the menu. The variety was poor as was the quality of the eggs. We ordered both scrambled and fried and both were poor.. the scrambled had an oily taste and we were unable to eat them.

Location was very good. An easy walk to the main streets/areas of interest. The hotel staff were amazing - friendly and helpful, including getting us a dinner reservation. The hotel has a bar lounge and a restaurant. We had an excellent breakfast there for 14 euro pp that included a continental buffet as well as a made to order hot breakfast and tea/coffee.

Overall it was great. The hotel is older, but clean. The windows only open up a crack, so it was a bit hard to get air in there. It was not hot when we visited, so it was not a problem.

The hotel bedroom was very clean and comfortable.

I was unaware that I needed to leave a deposit on arrival as I had already paid for the room in advance. It was fortunate that I had some cash as I only has Google Pay on my phone. I didn't find the receptionist on duty when i arrived to be particularly friendly - she did her job but, although i can't exactly say why, she just didn't make me feel particularly welcome. The morning receptionist was very pleasant though. I had an evening meal in the bar and was disappointed in the fish and chips I ordered. It was a very generous portion but the fish batter was greasy and the chips were dry - it was OK but not great.
