Location was excellent. Very quick and easy to get into the main city centre. Tonnes of pubs, shops and cafes within 1 minute walk. Also a Lidl round the corner and the Town Hall theatre nearby, which was helpful when coming out of Galway Film Fleadh movies late at night. Everything felt very safe and welcoming. We stayed for a week so saw many staff members, all of whom were very friendly and helpful. We didn't use the communal spaces but they looked lovely - lounge, kitchen and garden area out the back. Bed linen and a free breakfast was included, which was a nice surprise. We had a private family room so it was really spacious, had its own bathroom with shower, included towels, and we were pleased to be able to borrow a hairdryer from reception. The bed mattress was extremely firm, which was ok for us but might not suit everyone. Cage storage in the room itself and luggage storage at reception were really handy to have.

Some of the decor and bedding was a bit tired/overused and could do with replacing. Other guests often let their doors slam, and on some occasions, made noise that sounded like a herd of elephants above us. Thankfully we still slept fine (apart from one evening when a group were loudly talking and playing live music after midnight). We totally appreciate the noise wasn't the hostel's fault, especially as they had signage about being quiet/respectful, but maybe some soft-close hinges and noise awareness by staff could have helped.

Excellent location super close to everything. There were pubs right outside the door. Surprisingly quiet. Clean facilities. Awesome and helpful staff. Cool hang out area. A fan was provided, but we were happy to have brought two travel fans due to the “heat wave” Ireland was experiencing in August.

We booked a family room with two bunkbed units and a bathroom complete with a shower, sink and toilet. The bathroom smelled terrible when we arrived. We left the fan on all day and overnight, and by the next day the smell was gone, but WOW, it was terrible. I thought it was just a sulfur smell at first and we needed to live with it, but the fact that it went away makes me feel like it was a slight maintenance issue. Otherwise, great experience and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

I had a great stay at The Woodquay Hostel. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly, and the location is ideal; just a short walk from the city center, shops, and restaurants. The staff were warm and welcoming, always ready to help or give local tips. The kitchen and common areas are well equipped and perfect for meeting other travelers. My room was simple but clean and comfortable. I really appreciated the relaxed vibe and would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable and homely place in Galway. Would stay again!

Our stay at house number 8 was amazing! It's a beautiful semi detached 2 storeys house, with 2 bedrooms and a large living room including a large kitchen. The beds were very comfortable, the shower was excellent and everything was spotless. We were really impressed by the kindness of the staff, we were surprised to find bread, butter and jam and also milk in the kitchen as a welcome pack. It was so easy to get the keys as there is a reception open 24/7 right across the square. The location is in the city center and the fun is right on your doorstep.

The free breakfast was a nice touch - some protein options would make it even better but that’s nit picky. This hostel has a laid back vibe but isn’t too laid back. Rules are clear without belabouring them. It has great amenities/location/comfort and I’d give it a 5 on value for money except I found all accommodation in Galway so overpriced! We were a group of older adults and still found this hostel comfortable and would stay there again.

Only can suggest small improvements: - have a protein option at breakfast like boiled eggs - fix the door closers so they bang less - room with private bathrooms should come with towels - typically travellers that opt for this type of room are not bringing their own

The hostel has a very good location: 10 minutes from the station, it's usefull. The staff is welcoming, polite, pleasant and very kind, I was able to ask for advice on outings and which bus I should take. The dormitories and common areas are  clean. The breakfast is very good, with homemade bread, a real treat! Fridges are available, which is very practical. In the dormitories there are lockers that can be closed with a padlock and storage space for clothes and bags. I had a very good stay. Thanks to you

At first when you enter the property and go through the typical tiny staircase you think the rest of the place is also going to be cramped… but actually I was pleasantly surprised. The dorm was a reasonable size. I stayed in the 7bed female dorm with bathroom. What I liked most was the atmosphere, the kitchen and lounge area were nice. Nothing fancy but it felt like authentic hospitality. Nice staff. Small breakfast for free, tea and coffee. These are small details but they make a difference. I was also able to get some laundry done for a fee which was nice as well. Galway is a walkable size so the location was quite convenient to go everywhere.

Just for improvement, I would say it would be nice to find a way to avoid noise made by the doors (dorm doors when you leave and on the top floor the door to the stairs as well) It’s a bit tough to hear the doors bang repeatedly early morning.

We booked the 3-room appartement. It is in a separate building, not in the hostel. The appartment was spotless clean, modern and comfortable. We loved the design very much. Good kitchen with washing machine. Free breakfast (tea, coffee, bread, jam). The location is perfect, right in the centre of Galway, next to the pubs and shops. When we closed the windows, it was quiet in the rooms. Good café in the ground floor where we could buy our morning coffee and fresh croissants. Parking place is very close (payable). The reception ladies in the Hostel was very nice and helpful, they helped in everything we needed. Thank you!

Kind staff. Great location in the city center. Parking was availlable on dyke road. It is a public parking where you can park for €6,5 per day. Only a 5 min walk from the hotel. This is very nice so you don’t need to drive through the city center, since the car park is on the outskirts of the city. They serve a basic breakfast of Bread, flapjacks, fruit with the first come, first serve principe. They offer this for free.

Smaller bathroom

Great location, close to Eyre square and Shop street. Staff very quick to respond to any queries. Very good atmosphere. A large kitchen with lots of storage space. A comfortable sitting/ dining area with games supplied. Breakfast supplied and reasonable 10am check out.

We had to pay for towels and very basic toiletries. You need to be very able bodied to take the stairs. The only parking.is paid parking on the street which was full when we were there.
