The hotel Torre Guelfa is extremely interesting as the building was a former 13th century palace. The roof garden was exceptional - on top of one of the highest towers in the area I believe - the Duomo, Bapistery and Palazzo Vecchio were all very close. It was nice that there was a bar service on the roof top. The hotel was in the centre of the historic centre - almost next door to the Uffizi Galleries. Breakfast in the medieval dining room was very good - there were salads, meats, cheeses, eggs, fruit, croissants etc. We were in room 309 which was a lovely room on the highest floor. We were put in a room on the first floor when we first arrived but we asked to move as we thought it was too dark as the windows faced walls, and 2 lamps in the room werent working.

For a 4 star hotel I think repairs should have been done to the room before we used it. The glass shower door was hanging off of one of the hinges (it was put back in place by the cleaning lady but the hinge was not repaired during the 6 days we were there). The kettle or plug didnt work well - there was a loose connection (the maintenance man came to look at it and said it was OK), however I had to hold the plug in place while the kettle was boiling. The window didnt shut easily - my husband could do it but I couldnt.

Stellar location .. Cannot stress enough how great this location is. At the foot of the Ponte Vecchio, you are at every major site in minutes. The staff here were incredibly friendly, especially Vivian at breakfast who makes the best coffee ever. But it's the unique history of this building that made it one of our most memorable stays ever The hotel is actually a historically significant tower that was built in the 13th century and it remains the tallest Private structure in all of Florence. You can access a 360° View of the whole city by climbing a very unique set of stairs all the way to the roof of the building you will never find another hotel like this.

The bathroom door handle fell off in the bathroom but that was literally the only thing we didn't love love love about our stay.

Hotel staff were extremely friendly, accommodating and attentive in all interactions. Breakfast service is exceptional, I would highly recommend any visitors to not pass this up. Rooms were cleaned daily to a high standard daily, all expected amenities and toiletries present, also included was a modest sized safe (enough for a laptop and any other valuables), medium sized square fridge with complimentary water bottles. The view from the rooftop tower (accessible from the 3rd floor - 24/7) provides an breathtaking true 360-degree view of Florence, this is an absolute unique and essential experience while staying at this hotel. Location is ideally situated, less than a 5 minute walk to Piazza della Signoria, and less than 10 to Piazza del Duomo. Hotel is easily accessible 24/7 with staff always available, making nightlife exploration possible, of which is vibrant and bustling. In short, highly recommended and will be planning future stays here.

Free WiFi could sometimes be intermittent for internet calling, but not on all days. (This could have been down to other factors).

Lovely location in Florence, close to major sites and not too far from the train station. The free breakfast included whatever coffee you want and had a large variety for different styles and preferences of food. The tower of the hotel is really nice to visit at any time of day, with a great view of the city and valley. The bathroom was decadent with a double vanity, huge shower and double windows and bench.

The grandeur of the bathroom seemed to come at the expense of the bedroom itself, which was smaller than I would have expected given the square footage listed. This was compounded by having four side tables and a large wardrobe taking up floor space in the room. If two people have a decent amount of luggage (as we did for a multi-week trip), it will be tight to move around. The beds are also in need of replacing - the mattresses aren’t very comfortable. Only other complaint is that when I picked up my bags from the room / closet where they were stored prior to the room being ready, the entire bottom of my backpack was soaking wet. It wasn’t something in my bag, but seemed to just be water. It dried but was still an inconvenience.

I was surprised by how great this hotel was for the price. The location is amazing — right in the historic center near Ponte Vecchio and just a short walk to the Duomo, but still peaceful.The room was way more spacious than I expected — rare for Italy! Best of all, the hotel is pet-friendly, which is hard to find in Florence’s city center. The staff were super friendly and really helpful, making the whole stay easy and enjoyable. Breakfast was good with a nice selection. Great value for money — I’ll definitely stay here again!

I can honestly not complain.

The rooftop terrace is phenomenal! It’s a spectacular view and we would recommend bringing your morning coffee or own drinks on an evening. The room is beautiful and so comfortable. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a great selection and served in a medieval hall. This is a unique and stunning hotel. We can’t recommend it enough.

We didn’t have any issues. However we couldn’t work out how to use the air con but as the stay was in spring opening the window was fine.

My favorite was the fresh-made cappuccino every morning! Great variety of pastries, juices and breads. Cereal, yogurts, cheeses, meats, eggs provided a great variety! My only suggestion, fresh fruit would have been a nice touch instead of canned peaches. There was a bowl of fruit available but no bananas, melons or berries offered during our stay. Staff was friendly and attentive! We stayed in the Jr Suite which was spacious with a full and 1/2 bath. Perfect for families. Plenty of extra pillows and bedding for a chilly night. Sitting area was noisy due to street activity and vendor carts early in the morning. Bedroom was away from street and quiet. It’s an older building so don’t expect upgraded windows, insulation or fancy tiles/marble. It was clean and staff very friendly. Location was undeniable the best! Central to everything we wanted to see!

Bed was a little too stiff for my liking and maybe an upgrade to the pillows for different support needs. Locking and unlocking the door with a key was a bit tricky and I had to ask for assistance. Six locks on the inside was interesting!

Loved the character and the history of the hotel. A comfortable room, central for everything. Friendly staff and a good breakfast. Loved the tower which gave stunning views over Florence.

Room decor was a little tired and could do with some tlc. No information in the room. First night was wakened just after midnight with loud banging which was coming from the radiators. Walked down to reception no one was there and no contact numbers. Turned the radiators off and the noise finally stopped around 3am! Sorted the next day, however still could not use one of the radiators!

I stayed with my mum and it was absolutely perfect. The castle-style décor gave the place a magical feel, and everything was beautifully maintained. The staff were so warm and welcoming, which made us feel right at home. We really enjoyed the generous breakfast selection each morning, and the rooftop bar was a definite highlight – the views were stunning and made for such a memorable experience. It was the ideal place for a relaxing and special getaway together.

- Excellent location, located in the historical center of Florence, close to sights (Ponte Vecchio is 2 minutes away) and there’s a store right in front of the hotel which is very convenient - If you arrive by car, the hotel works with a garage close by that guarantees safe access to the ZTL restricted traffic area of the city, so you don’t get a fine. A driver comes and takes your car to the garage and you pay for parking when the car is returned. - The tower terrace is a nice perk that offers a beautiful 360 degree view over the city and it has a rooftop bar - The room was big, comfortable and clean and it didn’t face a main street, so it was very quiet. The stairs in front of our room led to another small terrace with tables and chairs and a nice view of the Dome and the Palazzo Vecchio. - The second sink in the room was helpful because it had extra counter space for your items and it was far enough from the bed - The air conditioning functioned properly and the elevator was helpful - Breakfast was delicious and fresh, with a good selection. We will definitely stay here again

This issue was particular to our room and it concerns the tiny bathroom. The shower was pretty small and, probably because of the space limitations, they had to install a shower curtain that only kept the water from spraying all over the bathroom walls, but a lot of water ended up flooding the floor. The sink counter space was limited, but there was a second sink in the bedroom, far enough from the bed, that was really helpful.
