Giada at the front desk was outstanding! Great recommendations on restaurants and took very good care of us. We would stay there again as a result of her hospitality. Great location, convenient, in the center of everything. Staff could not have been better.

Beautiful hotel in the absolute center of everything. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. The morning breakfast was beyond my best expectations. Would absolutely recommend it if you’re looking for that smaller, beautiful hotel experience.

They upgraded our room from a junior suite to a full suite with an extra half bath. Beds were comfortable. We had no view but plenty of light. Great central location. Staff helpful. Interesting renovated historic structure.

Everything was pricey, including 35 euros a night for or small dog, for 5 nights. Breakfast buffet was ok, but not special and hefty fees for any requests. An evening meal in restaurant was uninspiring. Poor instructions for those being dropped off in a private car and phones were being upgraded so hard to get through.

our stay was excellent!! our location was perfect!! The room was really nice, lots of space and clean!! The breakfasts were phenomenal. I have celiac so the choices were so wonderful. So happy that GF was available in the meal and desserts. Our stay there is such a great memory. The History behind the Hotel was amazing and the whole atmosphere there was just beautiful. Can't say enough about how much we enjoyedour stay there. So glad you were our choice!!!

There was nothing we didn't like!

My wife, my mother in law, and I stayed in two rooms at the NH Porta Rossa. We previously stayed at NH hotels in the past and have really enjoyed them. The NH Porta Rossa, though, is special. The location is amazing, steps away from exclusive shopping and eating, moments from the Uffizi, and so close to Ponte Vecchio that I can't possibly imagine a better location to stay when visiting Florence. The hotel goes way beyond location, though. The history of the building is fascinating. Parts date back to the medieval period and every single architectural detail tells amazing stories about where you are staying. My mother in law stayed in a deluxe junior suite, which had an amazing display of luxurious space and thoughtful details including places to stow baggage, easily accessed lighting, and luxury bathroom features. My wife and I stayed in room 121, which, while less spacious, included two 18th century frescos. Waking up to the frescoes was like waking up in your own personal museum. It was wonderful! The staff were polite, attentive, and happy to answer our questions. We have stayed at other hotels with interesting histories where the staff never bothered to learn their hotel's amazing stories. Not so with this one. It seemed like everyone we asked was able to tell us something interesting and all of them seemed to love where they work. It made for an incredible stay. Breakfast was good (we just paused for the basics and were off). It was a really wonderful stay.

There isn't much negative I can say about the Porta Rosa. Maybe that it is expensive. But the price is well worth it. We will start saving up again for our next visit.

It is centrally located to the Central of Florence. Close to the train station. Steps away from so much amazing History, restaurants and shopping!! Everyone there was so knowledgeable of the area and history! Antoinetta was our first contact upon arrival and she was amazing. She remembered our little doggy’s name “Whiskey” and Whiskey loved her!! Everyone that we talked to was amazing!! Breakfast is Amazing!! Don’t miss out!!

I have nothing but high regards for this property...The staff was exceptionally professional, polite & very helpful...The hotel is gorgeous, the old world design & decoration is very tastefully done...Our 7-night stay on the 5th floor unit was perfect, the hotel was very accommodating, being there was a seating room, w/a door separating the main bedroom, where they moved a lovely red sofa & replaced it with a comfortable twin bed for me,-(being I snore & not to disturb my wife) & placed the sofa in her bedroom, along w/a lovely small powder room, not expected, it was a perfect situation...The breakfast buffet each day was delicious & the location was quiet & perfect for exploring Florence...They also assisted me w/arranging to park my rental car, to explore Tuscany in a garage, just behind the hotel...If we ever travel back to Florence again, we'll definitely stay there, loved it !

Absolutely nothing !!

Everything was exceptional! Great service from everybody, had an issue with a window wich was promptly resolved, very efficient work. Room was extremely nice, old building with modern touches maintaining the charm, very good taste. Breakfast was big and good. This is an historic hotel, ask for a small tour and explanation of its history to their staff and they will walk you through with a smile. Definately staying ther on our next visit! Location cannot be better.

Room was amazing a wonderful mix of old and new. The bed was very comfortable. The staff who checked us in was excellent and we were treated to an upgrade and champagne! That was not expected! Really was in awe that I stayed in a property that was once a home and the oldest hotel in Italy!

Liked everything.

Superbly located hotel in an old palazzo (supposedly the oldest hotel in Florence?). So central — a 10 minute walk to every major attraction in the Florence city centre. The breakfast buffet is superb! Such fresh delicious food. The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed. The staff are beyond helpful, so good at making reservations, recommending restaurants, providing random bits that were needed (like super glue!), brilliant service :)

Minor quibble but the toilet paper could be better quality. It’s such a minor thing but makes a difference to the experience. Also, and this one is a long running problem of mine, but being constantly addressed as Mr in written communications by Italian hotels starts to grate after a while. I wish they would make a bit more of an effort to check the guest’s gender before addressing them in writing!
