the hotel is in an excellent location. the room was really spacious and very clean on our arrival. the receptionists were very nice to us and gave us good tips about restaurants. the breakfast is okay but nothing to write home about. that being said it's alright for a three-star hotel. we were happy and world come again!

I'm not sure the room got cleaned during our stay, the maid only made the bed and changed towels every day. the A/C was running 24/7 and you couldn't turn it off. the temperature was set too low for us and we set it higher but the maid turned it down again the first day. but after I asked her not to change the temperature she didn't. the hotel has a tiny garage for small cars so they didn't recommend their garage to us. they also didn't recommend the restaurant that is in the same building as the hotel, the service there is terrible and the food also really bad except for the pizzas. one big thing that I didn't like so much was the beds and the pills were very hard and I had a neck ache every night.

Hotel is in a very good location, opposite the Basilica in the centre of the old town. Shops and restaurants are all walkable. Hotel staff were welcoming and friendly. Our room was clean and comfortable with good views of the Basilica. We drove here and used the private on-site car park which is very secure, especially if you prefer to leave things in the car overnight.

Breakfast could have been improved for us with a better selection of fresh fruit, and possibly a better variety of yoghurts. Our bathroom was functional and clean but could be improved with a modern shower instead of the bath.

Location excellent. It’s the selling point of the hotel. Cleanliness - obviously expert cleaning staff. Every part was spotless. Well done Staff.

Shower over bath with no shower curtain, so it was difficult to keep water off floor. Breakfast does not run till 10 o’clock. You have to be finished in the dining room at 10. I’ve never experienced this in any hotel before. I came to breakfast at 9.45 and at three minutes past ten, waitress told me breakfast is over. They should say that breakfast ends at 9.30 to give clients time to eat. I wanted a second coffee, so went across the road where there’s an excellent cafe. I wouldn’t book breakfast in the hotel if I return.

Nice helpful reception staff. Allowed to check in early. Compact room with all the usual amenities.The buffet breakfast was excellent. Held our luggage the following day whilst sightseeing. Very close to St Anthony's Basilica possibly best thing to do in Padova. Recommended a very good nearby restaurant.

Hand held shower over bath with no curtain in Room 116. Photos show other rooms with shower cubicles so guess we were unlucky. In common with all hotels in Italy so far the room is overheated in our opinion. I think the locals find it barely warm enough judging by the way they were dressed at breakfast.

It was very short stay in Padova. Only 2 days one of them we use to visit Venice. Of course we would like to come back to see Padova in more details. Location of the hotel was great everywhere 5-10 minutes walk. Just one step to Cathedral that make your feel magnifical. Even to train station you can walk something around 20 minutes. Breakfast, personal, restaurant infront of hotel everything was very good. Room was the best during our 14 days travel in Italy. Family room with two bedrooms and very sweet interior design. Sound insulation, cleanliness, comfort all the great. I can't find really any problem. But the best was signor at the reception made jokes and helped with any information. Thanks to him to make our days smily.

It can be kettle in room we like to drink some hot tea in cold evenings.

Great location, right next to St. Antonio Church. Easily reachable by tram from the train station. Walking distance to center and key landmarks. Good cafes and bakeries in the area. The room was spotless and well equipped with fresh towels and toiletries. One of the rooms had a beautiful view to the Basilica’s piazza. Comfortable beds and a good breakfast. Staff is great, very welcoming and helpful.

Minor issue: cigarettes smell in the bathroom. Not the hotel’s fault but needs fixing.

The location is amazing, next to the Basilica di Sant'Antonio and very close to the Prato della Valle square. It's also less than 30 minutes away from the train station (on foot). If you want to take a taxi, they call it for you and it usually arrives in a couple of minutes. The staff is very friendly and always ready to help.

Breakfast is fine, but doesn't offer many options. There are no veggies. They do have some vegetarian options, but vegans would struggle a bit. They have soy milk!

Beautiful location overlooking Basilica. Wonderful atmosphere outside the hotel and plenty of facilities (restaurants / transport links etc) nearby. Comfy bed and good-sized room. Selection of bathroom supplies provided (shampoo/soap etc). Good continental selection provided for breakfast.

We didn't mind at all- it added to our enjoyment of the holiday and the perfect experience we had- but the bells from the Basilica were rung regularly and this may put off some who would prefer a quieter stay.

Best location in Padua., IMO. Next to Bascilica of Saint Anthony, very close to botanical gardens, about 10 minute walk thru historic section to chapel with Giotto frescos, very short walk to university of Padua. A very elegant hotel with an elegant breakfast. Excellent housekeeping. The furnishings were very classic and upscale. Lift worked well. The staff were great with specific directions, answering questions, getting taxis, greeting you when coming and going, everything you would want in a classic hotel. One can walk to the train station. Great base for day trips to Vincenza and Venice. There was a marathon in town when we checked out and it seemed that no one could get a taxi to the train station due to blocked streets - however, the very pleasant man at the hotel front desk somehow, through much effort on the phone, managed to get us a cab although it seemed impossible at the time. Now that is great service!

Maybe some chocolates in room upon arrival and some travel leaflets to local attractions.

For over ten years now my wife and I have been staying at the Donatello during our regular visits to Padua (my wife is a Padovana and grew up in the city). It has changed ownership in this period and recently underwent some minor renovation which has pleasingly spruced up the rooms and decor without losing any of the hotel's original charm or ambience. A few of the original staff remain - including the ever-helpful Carlo, night manager - and, amongst the relative newcomers, Manuel, Giancarlo and Walter have likewise always been exceptionally welcoming to us and friendly. We think of the Donatello as a regular 'home from home' when we are in the city, and though other decent small hotels in the area do offer additional choice it remains the best option in our view for a stay in central Padova. The location - right next to the Santo (Basilica of San Antonio) - is unrivalled (less noisy for instance than being right in one of the central squares like dei Signori, or in the Ghetto); the staff are lovely; the breakfast buffet offers plenty of choice; and all in all it still presents travellers with good value for money too. If you can afford the surcharge, ask for one of the larger upper-story rooms with a sweeping view over Piazza del Santo and the famous statue of Gattamelata (which gives the Donatello its name): surely one of the finest in Europe.
