The Hotel recommended two things: 1 - Use the porter service at the dockside to transfer your luggage up to the hotel. 2 - DON'T USE GOOGLE MAPS to walk up to the Hotel - catch the bus instead. These recommendations saved us from walking a kilometer up hundreds and hundreds of very steep stairs with heavy suitcases. The porters charge 10 Euros per piece of luggage, and the bus trip was 3.60 Euros. Both well worth the cost. Breakfast was served every morning to our room balcony which was fantastic. You can change your selection each day. The staff were very warm and friendly and spoke excellent English The cleaning staff were very good at their job There was even a small pool/spa on the lower terrace for cooling off during the hot days. The view from the balcony was wonderful. The staff at the local bars and restaurants in Positano remember your faces if you are staying for more than a few nights and are happy to see you when you go back to their establishment the next day. The 'Interno' Bus Drivers were great. If you told them the name of your hotel, they made sure that they dropped you off at the right place. Be friendly to them and they will also remember your faces and get you onboard if they can. The Interno bus is very popular and sometimes full, so don't be surprised if you have to wait for the next one. They'll fill to bus to capacity everytime. Don't take suitcases on the bus. Theres a charge for carry-on cases and no room for them if you do. Use the Porter service to collect your bags from the hotel and collect them at the dockside when you get the ferry to your next destination. The Porters speak good English too.

The pillows could have been softer but that was only a minor thing. Positano is very popular with day tourists and very steep, but that's what you get for coming to the Amalfi Coast in peak season. Positano is not a place to bring a pushchair/stroller.

The location, the amazing view and the room

The attitude of the staff which was always negative with no smile. The breakfast was very basic . We received everyday ruined fruits and the bread was not fresh. What really disappointed us is that when we complained about the fruits … we received a surprising reply from the manager that if you don’t like… just remove it. The unfriendly staff attitude made our stay not enjoyable.

Small family run hotel with wonderful views of Positano. When we got there we were offered the opportunity to upgrade our room. If possible, try to book one with the balcony, it was totally worth the extra 50 euros a night. The rooms are larger, updated and the balcony has lounge chairs. We enjoyed breakfast in the balcony every morning, it was the best way to start the day, we absolutely loved it! The walk up and down to the center is good exercise…It takes about 15 minutes to walk down buy there is a bus stop a few steps away if you get tired trying to climb up several times a day.

Nothing. We loved this hotel

The VIEW from our terrace was breathtaking, and it got better with each day. Positano is about the VIEW, and our room gave us just that. The room had plenty of space for 2 people and lots of storage to hang your clothes. Breakfast being brought to the room and eating on the terrace was so relaxing. There were many choices for breakfast. The hotel staff went all out to make our stay the best it could be. The hotel arranged a private taxi service from and to Naples at a reasonable price, which was great are a long flight. The hotel also recommended some restaurants, and we ate at several of them.

The wifi was a little slow, but that didn't stop us from sharing all the pictures we took.

Everything was incredible! Views were spectacular!!! They have parking (with reservation), very clutch in Positano. Location was high enough for the best views while not too high for walking back from the beach. Some of the steps around the hotel are pretty steep, but if that’s a problem for you, you can always just walk the roads (a bit longer but much easier). Staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and accommodating! Breakfasts were amazing! The combination of private balconies and delicious breakfasts were one of the most charming experiences we’ve ever had on a vacation. Cannot recommend Il Gabbiano Positano highly enough! 🥰👏🙏

We loved everything! It was a great breakfast each day, a great room, a great view, great location…everything was spectacular! We visited for 5 days/4 nights, and we enjoyed having Il Gabbiano as our home base. The hidden Easter egg is that there’s a jacuzzi available to everyone with a world-class view of the Mediterranean Sea.

Sounds like a first-world complaint…but the Jacuzzi isn’t heated all the time, and when we asked about the cold water, they said we had to arrange in advance for them to come down and turn the heater on at a pre-determined time. We couldn’t really be bothered to coordinate it, so we usually dealt with the cold water any time we made a spontaneous visit. Also, the quality of the shampoo was a bit odd — I think I read that it includes olive oil? Regardless, feels strange in the hair…and they don’t provide conditioner (only body wash) so recommend bringing your own if you are picky on shampoo.

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Gabbiano in Positano. The views from the room were absolutely breathtaking—waking up each morning to the sweeping panorama of the sea and colorful cliffside buildings was unforgettable. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, always ready with a smile and helpful advice on local restaurants and transportation. They made me feel at home from the moment I arrived. The rooms and common areas were spotlessly clean, clearly well cared for, which made the stay even more comfortable. Another big plus is the location—it’s convenient to the main parts of Positano, with just a short walk down to the shops, restaurants, and beach, yet far enough uphill to enjoy peace and those incredible views. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing and scenic stay in Positano!

Nothing, everything was perfect!

Staff Was excellent and always available when needed., when we had questions about rentals they volunteered to reach out and make reservation for us. Excellent communication from Hotel staff, including suggestions regarding how to best reach the hotel. Room was always clean and fridge was always refilled. They View was spectacular!!!

If i have to say something here it would be that AC was a little bit outdated, but worked perfectly fine so no complaints.

This hotel is a hidden gem. It is in a perfect location to explore Positano, perfectly positioned a good distance up the hill for beautiful views whilst also being very close to the stairs and a reasonable walk down the road to the Positano beach. Many excellent restaurants are nearby. The bus stop for the local Mobility Amalfi Bus is immediately outside. We got a free upgrade for our hotel room which was an incredible surprise and had a large terrace to enjoy the weather and views and it absolutely blew us away. The terrace itself is perfect with shade all day and sun and a variety of chairs and loungers. Breakfast is delivered to the room daily and has a huge number of continental options. The hotel also offers simple room service snacks and drinks both on the rooftop bar (with sweeping views of Positano) and in the rooms. The beds were comfortable and the pillows thick! The bathroom was spacious. The staff were amazing, friendly and helpful.

Parking fee of 60 eur/day frustrating.. parking should be included especially when you pay such a room rate. However we left in the last day early in the morning at least a good will of cancelling last night parking fee was expected.. We’ve got the smallest room of the type Executive and the reason was that we came late…in holiday 😀 Location is not the best one…be ready to walk enough or to climb stairs to reach Positano center…
