The location was outstanding, would like to visit again.

Having to pay for parking, it should have been made clearer that their was a charge to park in the Hotel facilities.

Castelmola Villa Sonia - staff, accom, views, pool, breakfast

The restaurant for the evening food (not the breakfasts at the hotel). Sorry, but it was dismal. We'll still give you 5 stars overall, but as for the restaurant for night time: First the risotto limone was normal rice with a lemon drizzle (NOTHING else) and the lasagne was a pasta with a bolognaise sauce stirred through it - both were terrible meals. I hate writing it but it's true. Your chef must have quit that day, if so you should not have opened that night. Visitors, you must walk up to Castelmola and you'll have access to 30 amazing ristorantes.

We were able to park our car outside the hotel and check in with our luggage before parking the car in their car park. Our room and bathroom were spacious with plenty of cupboards. The staff on reception were wonderful and since we were only staying one night took advantage of their shuttle service into and return from Taormina. Francesco who drove us, was a mine of information. There is also a bus stop opposite the hotel with regular buses to and from the Taormina centre. We had a balcony attached to our room which had great views over Taormina to Mt Etna. Breakfast was full on buffet served on the terrace so that we could take advantage of the views. There is a lovely pool and sunning area on the same level. We wished we had spent another night here but had an hotel booked the next day in Cefulu. Would recommend this hotel for a number of night stays.

The view of Etna was terrific. The staff were lovely people. The room had a balcony and was traditional in style as was the hotel. The swimming pool area was fantastic. The location was wonderful.

The shower was too small. The breakfast was disappointing and you must boil your own eggs to your liking from cold. Novel, but means messing about and standing about with other people withy different needs. The pre-cooked scrambled eggs and bacon were never warm. The restaurant was closed and we had to walk up the hill for dinner.

The hotel was very spacious inside and out which was quite a feat considering its positioning at the top and on the edge of a high mountain .We appreciated having a very lovely breakfast area with masses of space and tables and fabulous panoramic view through a glass enclosure ,with Etna in the distance. The pool area had a great pool ,plenty of sunbeds etc and again that fabulous view. The location, although a long way up ,is well worth considering if you want a quiet retreat away from the crowds in Taormina where space in most of the hotels ,we noted ,was very limited. Its worth noting that the journey down to Taormina is very accessible with a free hotel shuttle bus and frequent local bus that stops outside the hotel. The room was clean, spacious and had a rustic charm with decoration relevant to its mountain top location.Castelmola a short walk away was an unexpected bonus with restaurants, shops ,pretty backstreets, churches and views. The staff at the hotel were consistently excellent always polite ,cheerful and helpful and made a difference.

We thought we would be nearer to Taormina ,a healthy walking distance away maybe ,and this wasnt clear when we booked ,however for all the reasons already mentioned we feel none of this mattered .We got to stay in a great hotel near a fabulous little gem of a town.

We LOVED our stay at Hotel Villa Sonia! The view was breathtaking. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had no difficulty parking. The room was perfect for us. The pool was outstanding. We swam both days of our stay. It was not crowded, the bar service was great. I felt like I was in heaven. The shuttle to Taormina was great. Breakfast was wonderful. The charm of Villa Sonia was unrivaled. The antique furniture was lovely. We also loved walked to Castelmola. It is a really special place!

Nothing. Another comment that I wanted to make here is that my husband and I were very impressed with the professionalism of the general managers when they respond to comments here on booking. They received the comments with grace and responded in such a genuine, thoughtful manner. This influenced our decision to stay at Villa Sonia. We were impressed by this!

The hotel is beautiful. We have stayed here before and especially enjoyed lounging on their poolside patio with a drink from the bar. They have everything the traveler needs for a pleasant stay, including a wealth of local knowledge to share. Francesco and the gentlemen at Reception were excellent in their service and attention to their guests. They were gracious and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and we're very responsive to our questions and our every need, with such kindness. The warm and professional service was supreme. The breakfast was copious with plenty of choices. The nearby Bistro La Caverna was equally wonderful and charming for dinner. During our stay we had unusually terrible weather, but the staff made us feel at home and we relaxed in the lobby while we waited out the rain. We are seasoned travelers and this was the absolute best experience in accommodations ever.

No complaints at all!

The location was beautiful, though without a car trips up and down into Taormina needed to be planned, as it's a lot to walk up and down several times a day. The views are amazing, and the hotel is large and spacious.

The staff could be slightly friendlier, though they were all pleasant. The young lady on reception was super helpful with every request though.

Classic Sicilian older well maintained hotel. Located in a lovely village with panoramic views above Taormina. Some may be put off because it is not a sterile modern hotel but we enjoyed the authentic ambiance. The room was large, comfortable, and clean. Wifi was effective. Excellent breakfast. Better to take the shuttle (10 min ride) that stops in front of the hotel to Taormina than to drive car because parking is limited.

No major complaints.

Location is incredible in terms of views and the pool. The shuttle service the hotel offer is great to get into town and there are more options via the interbus / hop-on/off bus. Taxis from Taormina town were €25 at night to get back to the hotel.

Breakfast is disappointing. The fruit and dairy options are good but hot food and pastries were not appealing. Breakfast options are better in the village near to Castlemola (well worth a visit). The room we stayed in was basic but we were out a lot anyway.
