Corte Contarina is situated slightly away from the main tourist spots but they are easily accessable by walking or vaporetto. We really enjoyed the local neighbourhood which had some great restaurants. The staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly Merina and Mustafa. Both made our stay that much more memorable. The room was lovely and large although the TV size didn't quite match. A good continental breakfast was available each morning. We really enjoyed our stay and if we have the good fortune to return to Venice, we will definitely stay at Corte Contarina.

The bed was very firm which wasn't particularly comfortable for me. Our shower door had been replaced with a shower curtain. The internet speed was very slow.

The room was comfortable, spacious and had a bath. We had a lovely breakfast in the morning and it was only a short walk to St. Mark’s Square.

I wish the bath was bigger and that there was a hot breakfast option, but these are minor details.

We were offered a couple of rooms with twin beds and chose a large one with a big king and a single bed as well as a sofa. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is just off the main street in Castello and close for the biennale. There is a supermarket next door and a range of restaurants and bars of mixed quality. It is very quiet as it overlooks a small courtyard. The bathroom was spacious.

The shower was not always hot and the pole attaching it to the wall was falling off so it was not always easy to have a shower. The heating was also somewhat sporadic through the air con unit. Breakfast was reasonable but pretty basic with cold meats and cheese, yoghurt and cereals. The marmalade croissants were often rather stale and were not very fresh.

The breakfast was delightful, featuring freshly baked bread and coffee, tea, juices, and yogurt. The staff were attentive and friendly, providing valuable assistance throughout our stay. The accommodation was in a very safe and quiet neighborhood, well connected to the public transportation system and at a walkable distance to the main islands and attractions. Overall, great value for money.

Unfortunately, the room did not have air conditioning, which was quite uncomfortable with the high temperatures. The staff explained that this issue was due to a general electricity malfunction on the property, but they did provide a fan upon request to help alleviate the heat. Additionally, the bathroom was quite small; even for someone petite like me, the shower felt rather cramped.

+ The location was excellent. ++ Mustafa is one of the kindest and most proactive receptionists I have met.

- Breakfast could have had hot food, for example eggs.

This hotel was recommended to us by family members who had stayed there in previous years. This is an old-fashioned hotel in a historic building which ensures a great atmosphere. The location is great, away from the main tourist masses in a area that local people actually live in. Easy walking distance from St Mark's square along the waterfront. And well connected to the vaporetto network at Biennale landing stage. There is a wide boulevard with many shops and exceptional local restaurants that serves mainly locals just round the corner.

The breakfast area is very crowded and the choices are a little basic.

Location is great, away from the main tourist areas and 5 mins walk from the vaporetto. Its tastefully decorated and clean, and good value for the cost. Breakfast was good, staff are all very friendly and welcoming. There's a great choice of bars and restaurants in the main street just round the corner and it's a beautiful locality. It's a good budget choice.

Drawback is the noise of the Co-op shop on the block stocking up in the early morning as our room was on that side of hotel. Still a good budget choice.

The double room we stayed in was bigger, more comfortable and more elegant than we expected. The location, Castello alto (i.e. relatively far from San Marco and the more obvious touristic routes), is ideal if one wants to enjoy Venice's usual, wonderful views but also wants to see how real people live in Venice. Only a couple of steps away from Via Garibaldi, its gardens and the wonderful San Piero in Castello, Venice's first basilica. The night receptionist Mustafa has all the contagiously enthusiasm of the Egyptian people.

We liked everything about this property. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the breakfast was good, the location is in a quiet neighbourhood with a short walking distance to most of the attractions, the staff were great, especially the receptionist Mustafa, he was so kind, positive and helpful. Overall for us as a couple this place was perfect.

We were 2 staying there a few days. We appreciated : the friendly welcome on our late arrival (thanks Moustafa), the location (not too far from San Marca Piazza area) in a living area, the equipment of hotel/room, the breakfast. On top of that : one of us forgot his Hugo Boss sliders in the bathroom. The hotel confirmed the found them (many would have kept them and said they did not fond anything !). They were really helpfull in having them back. Thanks for everything to all theam staff !

Things to improve : the mattress confort is too firm (or mattress too thin).
