I was a little nervous about booking a room at this hotel, but it was great in the end. I couldn't even find it initially as it is very unassuming. The location was really fantastic though, and it had everything I was looking for-clean, comfortable, well located.

I have a couple nitpicks... I didn't see any way to mark the room "do not enter" so a cleaning person did try to come in (after knocking and calling out, in fairness). The desk is open 8am to 9pm which could be a problem if you need to leave early or have a problem late. Wasn't an issue for me though. I thought it was drafty the first night but soon realized I hadn't closed the door to the balcony.

I stayed at Locanda Al Leon by myself in early May in a charming room with 2 single beds on the 3rd floor of the hotel overlooking the bustling courtyard below. The room was modest, but clean. Everything I needed. The building is incredibly charming as it was built sometime in the 1400's. Most importantly, the staff, all of the staff, including the woman and her son that own the hotel, are the sweetest, most gracious people, and because of their kindness and hospitality, I would return to Locanda anytime in the future to Venice. Location is quite literally the best, imo, in all of Venice near to San Marco and the water. Def recommend.

Location was just perfect. We booked only 5 days before the stay and didnt have much choice for our budget. This place turned out to be perfect for the location. Clean, friendly and very helpful staff, always with a smile. Only room was small but we didnt need more. Downstairs, you are directly on a little plaza - restaurants, bar, and just 3min walk from San Marco

Steep stairs to the room...but this isnt really an issue to be frank. When you book a cute 200year old hotel in the middle of Venice...

We stayed in the Annex. It is a couple of meters away from the central hotel building. The location is excellent. The room is comfortable and cosy. We had a great time staying with Locanda Al Leon. It is also very close to some good restaurants. And San Marco is just within a 5 minutes walk. I would highly recommend this hotel.

It might be a bit of a problem if one has walking impairments since the building is obviously old, and there are no elevators. One needs to keep this in mind when traveling with senior people or with people who have difficulties with mobility.

That was the most perfect accommodation we've ever had! The location is really amazing - just a street away from St. Mark's square and the Bridge of Sighs. It is a 500 year old house, extremely beautiful on the inside with all the decorations and glass chandeliers. The room is entirely refurbished, but keeping the traditional Venetian look. Clean, warm and comfortable. Pretty spacious triple room (actually two connecting rooms). The breakfast is served in a tiny, homey kitchen on the top floor, creating a feeling of coziness and belonging to the family. The breakfast itself is completely sufficient and the coffee is perfect. There are several good restaurants round the corner as well as a wonderful bakery just in front of the hotel door. That one makes so delicious pastries that you will be always hungry to try something new. The entire staff and owners are amazing!

The place is located very close to main attractions. Even though we did not receive the room booked through booking.com, the one we got was nice as well. Staff was friendly and willing to assist. They were cleaning the rooms every morning and replacing the towels. Hot water almost instantly and nice, warm temperature inside despite the maximum 10 degrees Celsius outside.

Breakfast 100% NOT worth it: 1 type of ham and 1 type of cheese, only boiled eggs and the usual coffee, tea, fruit gem, butter. Recommend to avoid paying 10 Euro/person for the breakfast here and instead, choose any random place nearby to eat the breakfast: it will cost you approximately the same but a lot tastier and more divers food.

Beautiful room in a great location. Getting to the property from the vaparetto was super easy and only a 5 minute walk with big suitcases. The decor was really charming and the staff were very helpful and always friendly.

The only thing I didn’t love were the stairs. We were on the top floor so we had to walk up/down 3 flights of stairs each time. It’s to be expected in historic buildings though but wasn’t always easy

The location is absolutely perfect. Upon arrival the staff were very welcoming and accommodating. Rooms are well presented, if a little basic, we found it quite cold in November with no heating. For the price it's absolutely great.

No heating, which meant our room got quite cold. Shower was quite basic and heat was intermittent. Not much to complain about though!

My mom and I had a FANTASTIC stay at Locanda Al Leon. Our room was beautifully appointed! I booked a triple occupancy room as my mom and I didnt want to share a bed. Not only were there 2 beds- but my bed was in a little alcove giving us each some privacy. The rooms are VERY VERY clean! The air conditioning works amazing! The staff was extremely communicative and accommodating. We arrived late after a delayed flight- the staff left a package for me on the front desk with everything I needed to make my stay perfect! The front desk attendants were very helpful and kind. As far as location- Locanda Al Leon is perfect! There are delicious restaurants and fun shopping right outside the door!!!
