The onsen was big and wonderful. I also especially liked how shoes were taken off at the entrance, since walking around the hotel without shoes on was quite nice. The room was spacious and clean. The dinner and breakfast buffet was delicious!

The location was a bit far from the Hakone-Yumoto station, and I would highly recommend taking the bus to Hakone-Yumoto (I think it runs every 30 minutes) if possible. Also the doors were not super sound proof and I could hear other guests from across the hallway.

Amazing ryokan that is a short walk from the station. It is uphill on the way to the hotel so would not recommend with lots of luggage The facilities were great with spectacular views. the buffet dinner and breakfast was good quality with lots of variety. Definitely worth a visit. Staff were friendly and helpful. We got the private onsen room which was perfect to avoid crowds. Can’t wait to stay again

Breakfast was a bit restricted we had to eat between 7-845 so not much time to work around. Was a bit challenging with kids

We liked every thing at Tenseien. The staffs were great, very polite, friendly and helpful. The service was exceptional. Our room with a sitting area, 1.5 bathroom and an open aired bath was spacious and comfortable. We loved the roof top onsens and the garden. The whole place was just so beautiful. We enjoyed the garden, the pond and the waterfalls. The hotel was very clean. The restaurant served buffet breakfast and dinner with varieties of food choices for everyone. It’s only 15 to 20 minutes walk to town and train station.

Wish there were options for Kaiseki dinner

If you are looking for a real authentic ryokan experience this is the place. It is amazing how you have even waterfalls and even a small shrine just at the back of the accommodation. Food is buffet style with a lot of traditional food, that is for sure suited for any taste. What I liked the most was the outdoor rooftop onsen, with several rotenburo baths and views to the mountain.

For us we booked a western room, as at the time there was no availability for japanese-style (we did book last minute though), I highly encourage you to book a Japanese style for a more authentic experience.

The room were really clean and the staff was very friendly even if they don't speak English much but able to understand a bit. The onsen was great especially the outdoor one. I went during construction so there weren't too much to see outdoor. For those not used to Japanese style breakfast/dinner. The buffet is great for anyone to enjoy as there are western food as well.

I was wondering why my clothes smell and then I realized it was from the dinner buffet. Some grease/oil cooking smell went on my clothes while they are cooking in the open kitchen. Better ventilation need to be done. Good thing is that they provide yukata for free. So I was able to change. The public bath flooring sort of hurt when walking on with bare feet.

Nice little mountain park of the hotel, stamps to collect for the kids, onsen open until after midnight. Super breakfast and dinner buffet. All in all still fantastic.

Toilet looked clean but still smelled. I fixed that by wiping the hidden places myself. At breakfast/dinner, the smell of oil was pungent and clothes then smelled of it.

Here for solo travelling as a female, first time staying at a ryokan. Although English communication is rather limited, staffs are very helpful -- they really tried their best to help and explain how things work there.

Location was a bit far from the Hakone-Yumoto station, so if you are planning to stay here, I would suggest to pack light! Otherwise prepare to lug your suitcases up and down hill.

Onsen was almost 24hrs open The buffet was good

Cause I there’s no restaurants nearby so I ask if my plans included dinner in message, but I didn’t get the reply before my way there — and not even after. I’m sure there’s sufficient time for them to reply cause it was like two weeks before we were there. However, I got nothing.

it was a good place and the onsens were fantastic and gave me the best relaxation and sleep ive ever got (literally because my watch tracks my sleep). (the traditional Japanese styled beds on the floor were much more comfortable than the regular bedroom so do not pay extra for the regular)

The rooms were smaller than expected and it felt like less than the money we paid. otherwise it was fantastic.
