Firstly, I want to start this review with some context. I’m not normally a big reviewer, however, I recently spent 30 nights in Japan, and the reviews on hotels were really helpful for me when I was planning my trip, so if my experience helps the next person then great! Together my partner and I visited 32 different parts of Japan, staying in 19 different hotels, giving me (I think) a good basis for my review. We stayed at Hotel Rose Garden at the start of our trip for 5 nights. The hotel was perfectly located to access the Tokyo tube service, meaning we were able to explore a wide variety of locations in the city. It was also walkable to some key areas around Tokyo, like Shinjuku, and if like us a 40-1hr min walk in an exciting city is right up your street, it's a great starting point for you to explore even more on foot. The staff were very friendly, we were able to leave our luggage as our arrival time was pre-check in, check-out was also extremely smooth with no problems at all. The room was very comfortable, with a clean bathroom and space for us to open our suitcases. They also provided fresh water and coffee pods for the machine each day, which was a plus. I would say this hotel was value for money, it was extremely functional for our trip - location was spot on, it was quiet and close to a 7-Eleven, the metro and restaurants. (We didn't try to hotel restaurant, but it was busy most nights). If you're looking for somewhere to have as a base as you explore Tokyo, you can't go wrong with Hotel Rose Garden!

There is nothing that stands out as bad, for some it may be smaller than they are used to, but for us it was great for what we needed.

Perfect location, the hotel is right down the block from nishi-shinjuku station and a reasonable walk from the larger shinjuku station. Great bathroom and amenities. Room size is small but expected for Tokyo hotels, and for the price was great.

Thoughtful touches: kind reception, daily bottled water and fresh towel and toothbrush/toothpaste delivery. We loved the super soft and absorbent washcloths (refreshed daily) The air freshener came in handy a few times. I always looked forward to the refreshing flavored water station in the lobby after each day’s adventure. Strawberry mousse breakfast cakes and waffles were tasty! Very convenient to subway

Be forewarned: Teeny room (but this is common in Tokyo), hard bed, breakfast might not be what you are used to, dryer does not dry well (only do small loads at a time and/or expect several cycles or hang to dry in the room like we ended up doing) Also, we never could figure out the tv remote. But that wasn’t a big deal to us.

The location was walking distance to two train stations, restaurants and shops. The family room we stayed in was huge, especially the bathroom (by Tokyo standards.) The beds were very comfortable and the staff, friendly and attentive and spoke good English which was helpful for us. Would happily stay again!

Our room was on the main road and we heard a lot of sirens through the night so try for a back room.

Location was close to Metro and Convenience store. Restaurant was very nice rooms were spacious for 3 ppl and Bathroom was modern and new very spacious as well.

my only issue was when I had to get my Luggage forwarded to my next hotel in Yamagata. The guy at the front desk had some difficulty in filling out the form and this Hotel doesn't use Kuroneko Yamato transport, So I didn't receive my luggage on time. Luckily my hotel in Yamagata was able to forward my Luggage to my next Hotel. So make sure, you find out when you check in, how long it will take for their service to deliver your luggage to your next destination , if you want to use their baggage service and ensure the delivery date is correct.

The massage group that Hotel Rose Garden partners with is fantastic! Staff were always willing to answer my questions, no matter how random!

It would be helpful if there were a place for early arrivals to eat or relax.

Good clean room. 3 adults and 2 kids was ok in a superior room. Small but it worked. Good breakfast. Staff are very pleasant. Would stay again.

The location was great and the staff was very cheerful and welcoming.

There is a strange musty smell, especially in the bathrooms not sure if it was just a problem with our room.

Room was well set out, breakfast was good, and there is a station across the road and walking distance to Shinjuku station

Coffee in the room was excellent, a great machine, but they were stingy on the creamer and sugar

Good location

The room temperature was controlled by the hotel and not able to accommodate my personal preference. It was excessively hot
