Bit outside of the main road but only a 10 minute walk to the markets, night stalls and french influences bars and restaurants. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had a room on the second floor with a balcony overlooking the river. Beautiful views. The breakfast was the best I've had in the two months of travelling around Asia so far. They also offer a laundry service which is helpful as there aren't many in the area if you need one. Highly recommend staying here!

The bathroom is more like a wet room but it didn't bother us.

Breakfast was exceptional (and in a nice location) - crepe, eggs cooked to your liking, bread/jam, granola, lemon juice and tea/coffee. The bed was comfortable and room was clean. The air conditioning was wonderfully cold and there was also a fan. Staff were very friendly. Good location - close to a supermarket and walking distance from the center. Free water refills, and a bottle provided to reduce use of plastic.

There was no soap in the bathroom. A lot of mosquitoes (bring mosquito repellant).

Good location, breakfast was really good! Room was comfortable and had good aircon. The free cold drinking water was fab!

There were quite a lot of ants when we were eating breakfast. We also didn’t like having to leave the key every time we left, seeing as when we arrived they gave us the wrong keys for a room with already people in - the keys were left in a big bowl by the front door so anyone could have taken any key.

This place felt like home. Beautiful property, lovely owners and staff and the most amazing breakfast every morning. I even got a room upgrade :)

It‘s a bit outside the old town, but still walkable. Also, renting a motorcycle is highly recommended so that you can explore Luang Prabang‘s surroundings.

An excellent stay at Cold River! I was a little nervous about my room as it is listed as having no window (I was worried that it would feel claustrophobic). But my room was great! There is an internal window that, so you do get a little natural light (but you'll still need the lights on when in the room). But I certainly didn't feel too trapped by it! The decor is lovely and everything is clean. There is a kettle in the room and tea and coffee provided. And a water dispenser in the hall (always appreciate this to avoid plastic bottles!). The breakfast was excellent and plenty of it (your choice of eggs, a plate of fruit, a small bowl of yogurt and muesli, crepe/pancake, baguette). The location is nice too and only a short walk to the main tourist drag. The laundry service they offer is great (line dry rather than tumble dry, so your clothes are treated with better care). And I made friends with the sweetest cat. I can definitely recommend staying here.

The pillow was a little too firm/large for my preference.

Double room with balcony, view to the river and temple. Comfortable, clean, quiet, great central location, delicious fruit/yogurt/eggs breakfast. Attentive staff - The shower holder was broken when we arrived but we told the reception staff and it was fixed the following day as he promised. Hanging space for clothes and side tables. We spent 5 days here and would highly recommend it.

Really enjoyed our stay here. We had an upstairs room and it was worth the extra money (we were initially shown to a cheaper room which was intended for someone with a similar name and we’re pleased we had paid the extra for the view). The breakfast was the best we had in Laos. The place nearly next door provided an hour Thai massage for about $6. It’s a bit of a walk into town but tuk tuk drivers were always available. They were friendly and no real bartering was required to get a price of around 40k Kip into town.

Perfect place to stay in Luang Prabang. We only stayed one night as we were travelling through but we wished we were here longer. Rooms were so comfortable and had everything you could need. Staff were so friendly and spoke some of the best English we heard in all of Laos. Breakfast was also incredible, so much food really set you up for the day. Perfect stay.

Room had lovely balcony with great river view. Interior decor was delightful. Very clean. Breakfast was excellent - freshly made up for each person with proper French bread. Prompt and effective laundry service.

Room quite small and not a lot of space to unpack. Bathroom in need of re-tiling and wonky shelf needs fixing. Room bolt lock broken. Air conditioning controls hard to understand and quite noisy at night.

The room with a beautiful balcony by the river. The breakfast that is just perfect and delicious. The care of hosts that change us the room to give us more privacy because various groups were arriving/staying there.

Bathroom could use a little renovation, but it is part of the chill mood of the hotel so it was not a big issue.
