This homestay is located right in the heart of the old town in George Town. We were able to walk here within 15 minutes from the pier. From here although we arrived prior to check in the hosts made luggage storage easy while we waited for the room to be ready also providing complimentary tea coffee and snacks. We stayed in the Chulia room - queen bed. The room had place to store our bags as well as a decent bed and a fan and air conditioning which worked excellent. The old heritage house was beautiful and it made the stay very special. Another perk! They provide laundry services - being able to leave our clothes in a laundry bin and return to clean folded clothes meant we could spend more time exploring the city!

I love how easy it was to connect with the staff if we have any questions and they were really friendly. The place is really clean and well thought out eg, they provided slippers for the showers and toilet area for us to use, multiple hairdryers so we don't need to wait long to use. The aesthetic itself really gets your into the penang vibe. <3 Great location.

Small issue, there were 4 showers, of which one doesn't have hot water. However one of the shower that has hot water, the heater wasn't working. Small issue as the weather was ridiculously hot. Other than that, no issues at all.

The property is incredibly beautiful and historic. When we arrived the host gave us a short tour and explained about the history of the place and also showed us all the facilities. She was very friendly and helpful the whole time. The room is comfortable and clean and the bathrooms are simple but clean. In the lobby there is always coffee, tea, fruit and some local pastries available. You can also find guides about street art and places to eat. The location is great, close to all the main points of the city. We did everything on foot.

Place full of character with a homey, authentic feel. Staff was very nice and responsive. They even have a nice common area in the ground floor with light snacks and drinks. The place is annold house so facilities are shared but it was barely an issue since there are plenty of toilets and showers. Location is quite good in a quiet residential street (which touched a little somber sometimes). We were in Carnarvon room which had a nice view of the street. Bed was super comfy for me.

Because of the nature of the house, the floors were creaky and the door tended to be a little difficult to operate without making much noise making me a little bit on edge that the other guests may be disturbed. Rooms have lots of potential for interior decorations/lighting(but that's just me 😁).

Beautiful building Great location - near restaurants, bakeries and stationery shops ;-) Our ensuite room in the more modern section next door - architecture of both buildings was stunning - glad to experience both with the private and modern amenities of the room we stayed in. (The older building has no ensuite option)

This is my second time being here. The customer service representative Nicole is super attentive and responsive, very helpful too! The room is cozy and clean, with all the facilities that I need. Location is great, walking distance to all the famous street with plenty of food choices. Parking is easy, I parked in front of the hotel most of the time.

The pillow is a little too soft and not in shape to hold my head, that could be because I used to my expensive pillow at home :) The aircon is a little slow, well there is a wall mount fan that helps up a lot.

location is great; quiet area but in walking distance to komtar (less than 10 mins). There are many delicious food options nearby from morning to night (especially in Kimberly street), convenience store at Armenia hotel (only a few steps away). Grabcar is easily accessible. CAT bus stop is on the main street. Room is clean and spacious with nice decor and good light (I'm at the new building). The hotel also provides free refill drinking water, tea, snacks at the loby which is also a comfortable space. The host is very responsive.

the grey box (maybe mcb box) above bathroom door is making very noisy sound during my whole stay. I didn't inform the hotel coz I don't think it can be fixed easily. my room wasn't cleaned during my 2 nights stay but maybe they just didn't provide daily housekeeping. I would've been bothered if I had stayed a bit longer coz the room got carpet inside.

It was my 4th time at Carnarvon house, and despite the management has changed, it remains a very nice place to stay. First it's perfectly located at a walking distance from the ferry, the clan jetties, the busy Chuliah st, Komtar tower and mall, etc... Then the old house has the great charm of those heritage houses in old Georgetown and the room i had in the new house (i spent 2 nights in each house) was very confortable with its bathroom attached. Finally Nicole is a friendly and helpful manager which makes the stay really pleasant.

At first i regretted there was no proper breakfast included anymore but there are so many warung and street stalls around that it's not a real problem.
