WE had breakfast only once and it was an excellent spread. Mainly because my husband is a total vegetarian that we opted out on other days. However, there was enough for him as well. The staff in the kitchen downstairs and the staff at the Bar were very helpful especially the Chef whose name i forget went out of the way to prepare food for us whenever we asked for his help. Very nice guy. The food prepared downstairs is very yummy. Enjoyed sitting in the deck and the surrounding view gave immense pleasure for relaxing with a nice Cocktail in hand!

The location is strategic, just 4 mins drive to Straits Quay, 15 mins to Gurney Drive, 30 mins to ESCAPE Penang, and 25 mins to Penang Hill / Kek Lok Si. There is a beach right down the hotel if you fancy an evening stroll or swim, and there are amenities like a swimming pool if you prefer a sand-free zone to swim in. We didn't try the food in the hotel, but the whole premise is clean, spacious and very comfortable to be in. There are also a myriad of eateries to explore in the vicinity. I am especially delighted by their smart TV in the hotel room being able to cast from my (Android) phone for movies and shows when I'm not interested in their variety of channels. The bed is comfortable and the bathroom is very clean and ambient. There are blinds for the full-height glass window that separates the bedroom and the bath, so privacy during bathroom use is catered for.

The soundproofing could be a little better, the echoes from the common corridor into the hotel rooms are a tad loud sometimes. Otherwise everything's great!

I recently stayed at Hompton Hotel Penang to celebrate my son’s 18th birthday, and it was such a memorable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the warm hospitality and the stunning seaview from our room. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable for a relaxing family getaway. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, which made the whole stay even more enjoyable. We also loved the breakfast spread, which had a great variety and was served in a dining area overlooking the ocean. What made this trip extra special was the serene beachside location. It felt like a peaceful escape yet still close enough to the city and all the delicious food Penang has to offer. Celebrating my son’s milestone birthday here was truly the right choice. Thank you, Hompton, for helping us create such beautiful memories. We would definitely return again! 💙

The Property is located next to the sea and had good view. Room is also very good.

Service is very poor specially the in-house hotel restaurant service. Every time they failed to provide food and beverages on time and on first request. You need to call them again and again for a single order and took more than 1-1.5 hrs to serve. Also, the bigger restaurant (sea side) do n't have fans or air conditioning and it was difficult to sit outside for lunch as it was too hot. Far from airport and the road gets over crowded due to traffic. So, plan you airport transfer in advance and before time.

Easy check in no drama. Parking was easy and lots of space. I got an up grade. My room was massive as it had a bunk bed for kids, which I didn’t use. Bathrooms are clean and love the rain shower. Breakfast was massive. Lots to choose from. Wide selection of fruits. Hotel is next to the beach. Didn’t swim but took a stroll on the beach. There is a hawkers market in front of the hotel if u need to grab some food. We hired a car so was very easy to get around the island. Staff are very friendly and ready to help. Will definitely come again

Very good location, friendly and helpful staff and overall excellent customer service.

The bedsheets are a little bit musty. Maybe housekeeping can double-check. Breakfast buffets were good, but have a weird placement of foods and drinks, to be honest. We didn't even know there's more food at the back because we honestly thought that's the kitchen and was firstly disappointed with the selection of foods we first saw. You might want to reconsider the food placement or maybe put a sign that there's more food at the back.

We requested a room on a high floor, which was provided at check in. The view from the higher floor room towards the ocean was spectacular at day and at night. The staff was friendly and helpful, although English was limited by some. The breakfast had a variety which changed regularly. Water was provided daily. House keeping kept the room clean on a daily basis. There is a food market in the evening right across the hotel.

There was only 2 English channels available on the streaming service. The hotel exterior can do with a paint.

I vacationed at the hotel in February 2025, with friends, and we were all very happy with our stay. The room was very spacious, clean, and comfortable and had all the necessary amenities. I had requested a room with a view, on a higher floor, and they were able to accommodate this - the room had amazing views of the beach, and the surrounding hills. Since our flight was early, they even allowed us an early check-in. The tapas restaurant is also excellently located with views of the beach, and the food is decently priced. Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Penang, and will definitely book again if I visit Penang again.

Great facility and location. Wonderful staff. Comfortable room. Front desk staff especially helpful and Maitre'd in dining room (Nov. 15th) was great. Seafood buffet is amazing!! A superb meal at that price.

Appreciate that some staff are in training but, maybe assess their training more regularly..... didn't appreciate being asked to review their performance as we BARELY had sat down. That can/should be gone at end of meal. Also, back to training, please remind staff to give patrons a moment to look at menu before deciding -- we felt a bit pressured(?) to decide the MOMENT menu placed in front of us. That said, staff ARE lovely and generous and pleasant; just need a bit of fine-tuning as they're learning. A small issue with hospitality on our last day/night -- our room wasn't refreshed. Staff delivered fresh towels: placed them on unmade bed, didn't take used towels or refresh the room in any other way at all. Not sure why. Curtains had come off track in one corner (just an irritant).

Hompton is a very comfortable hotel, and the best part is that the beach is just behind the property. The beach is clean and peaceful, as it’s not easily accessible to outsiders, which makes it feel more private and safe. Before check-in, I informed the hotel that we were celebrating a birthday, and within an hour of arriving, a complimentary cake was delivered to our room — such a thoughtful and efficient service! There are also several food courts nearby, so finding food was very convenient. Highly recommended!
