Beach location and how awesome the Mayan Plunge suite is.
The location is inside a national park, so you have to pay to get in and they'll check your bags for plastic items/booze that they'll throw away. Keep your wristbands on they give you so you only have to pay once if you leave the park and come back. PRO TIP: If you leave the park, come back after 5pm. The park closes at 5 so if you go in after they'll just check your hotel reservation and you can bring in whatever you want/not pay again. It's also pretty far from central Tulum so having a moped/transportation is highly recommended.

Super nice location. Very chilled and nice atmosphere and surrounding. Not too packed and the stuff very nice. The first yoga class is for free which was also very nice experience.
I guess very common for Tulum but it felt like that you have to pay for everything additional. Even to hotel guests there is a limit how much you have to spent when using the sun bed at the beach. We booked the bungalow and unfortunately our bed was too small for my boyfriend who is 1.86m.

Beautiful hotel with a very friendly staff. The waiters at the restaurant were so lovely each and every time. Excellent location. Room service was done everyday. It was a great balance of beautiful hotel and still have a nature/ eco friendly feel to it. Since I was there for over a week, breakfast was included which was a HUGE help and very large portion.
Not much hot water and there were all of these wellness activities that I thought would be free for the guests. But they were not and didn't even give a discount for hotel guests (except for yoga). And they were expensive to join each one. For the price of the hotel, it was not right that they weren't included.

IKAL is a gorgeous, eco-conscious accommodation fully immersed in nature. I am so happy we chose here and not a typical, high-rise hotel. The beach was stunning, the staff extremely helpful (shout out to Sofia who made our stay so smooth!!) and the rooms/bathrooms really unique. The quality of the food and drinks at the restaurant was really great. As the paths are all sand, the housekeeping did a great job of keeping the room clean and the products in the shower smelled amazing. It really is a piece of paradise and I want to return someday! We were also there for the Day of the Dead celebrations which was really special.
The reason I didn't give full marks is because the accommodation is quite isolated. If you don't have a car you have to take a taxi or rent bikes to go to the supermarket even. The restaurant on site is great but if you want more variety you do need to get transport elsewhere. We really embraced the open bathroom, but with bugs and heavy rain, it might not be for everyone!

Going to Ikal for the 3rd time - pieceful place, great for meditation and relaxation. Rustic hippie place on a perfect beach.
Even though the staff is always helpful and approachable, this time we got unpleasant experience with the waiter Renato. Renato was extremely moody, questioning the order, been pushy and rude. It is absolutely unacceptable for the customer service and ruins the reputation of such a serene hotel.

The location was great ....away from the busy club beach hotels. The staff was super friendly and attentive. And the accommodations were magical. We had a bungalow for my daughter and a plunge pool suite for my partner and I. Each "room" is truly unique...with outdoor showers and sinks balanced by climate controlled sleeping spaces. Amazing! Fantastic for couples of all ages and families. Really mixed beach loving crowd. And finally, the live music, yoga classes, and massages really made this stay sparkle.
Hit or miss on the food. It was always beautiful...presentation was always 5 stars. But the flavors were inconsistent and occasionally served cold. I recommend keeping an open palate rather than falling in love with any single dish ...because it's not likely to be prepared the same way twice. I'd say incredibly yummy 3 out of 5 times...and just ok 2 out of 5 times.

This was one of the most beautiful hotels I've ever stayed at! We rented the Mayan cabin with private pool, and it was stepping into a little paradise. It's full of trees, and little animals, and so incredible! Since it's in a national park, it's very quiet and natural all around, it was exactly what we wanted and more! You can just walk to the ruins, and along the beach. The staff was always very friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be recommending this place to friends and family!
Our only comments are that the bed was sinking quite a bit in the middle, which didn't let us sleep very well, it could use a change. And that the hotel's restaurant, although everything was truly delicious, it was very expensive compare to everywhere else. Since there aren't many options around without having to go to the center or the hotel zone in a taxi, we ended up spending quite a bit there. If you do though, order the tacos gobernador, so amazing!

The cabines on the second floor was really cozy and well designed, great view and really special atmosphere. The food in the restaurant on the beach was good but a little overpriced.
The details given aboit the stay in the hotel beforehand lack important information about exsecive taxing when going in and out of the park, which evantually made us stay at the hotel more than we planned and postpone activities in the area. The yoga classes were great but you get only one for free when usually these activities are free of charge especially in this price range. The hot water in the shower werent that stable.

The beach was perfect and the location inside the national park was amazing. I feel asleep the sound of the waves each night and got up to see the sunrise over the Atlantic in the morning. The rooms were stunning with thoughtful details like footbaths to keep sand out and outdoor chairs or hammocks to enjoy a peaceful morning coffee. Breakfast was fantastic at the restaurant, the pool was refreshing and the swinging outdoor bed loungers were such a delight.
It’s a real ecolodge. You have to walk outside the use the bathroom. We were on the glamping side so the facilities were communal. But impeccably clean!

We stayed in the Mayan Plunge room and had an additional mattress for my kid. The staff was really helpful. The hotel is located in a national park, and there are free shuttles within the park that take you to the ruins. The rooms were clean, and there were clean water tanks available for refilling water during your stay. The place is really calm; we stayed for five nights, and there was only one kids' yoga session during this time, but that was okay since our main focus was not on the kids' club :) Additionally it seems they are building a kids area. I believe it will be better when it is completed.
I would prefer breakfast to be included. I feel the hotel restaurant is a bit overpriced, and several items on the menu were out of stock for the entire five days, such as fries, pancakes, and octopus, even though they were listed on the menu :) Additionally, the menu was not very extensive. There were no pizza or pasta options, and when you travel with kids, food is something you may need to explore at nearby beach restaurants.
