This is a long established motel. It's in a lovely location just by the marina which also has a supermarket and several restaurants. It has been renovated over the years, but I was surprised that there were no drawers or cupboards to unpack. Yes, I live out of my suitcase, but even so! The room was cold and felt a bit damp when I arrived in the evening and there was only a tiny oil filled radiator to heat the room (no wall air-con). The manager was happy to bring a more effective heater and I left it on overnight to keep warm. The kitchenette facilities were basic but adequate for my needs.

If the owner does more renovations then wall mounted air-con/heater units would be appreciated.

The accommodation was within walking distance to restaurants and close for ferry trip over to Waiheke. The room was equipped with the majority of what you need. Clean and comfy beds. Well worth the money. No complaints.

A stove top would finish it off to enable cooking yourself breakfast. The bathroom in room 2 only had 1 bulb working from 3. Putting an extractor fan in the bathroom would help condensation and steaming up of the mirror. The toilet roll holder casing kept falling off as you used it. These are suggestions for improvements to an already great motel.

Perfect location, spacious, clean, quiet, off street parking. Overall good value for money.

Our room was never serviced during our four night stay, not even after explicitly requesting this. After the first night we had to ask for clean towels. After the second night we asked to service our room, but this never happened. The staff was very friendly, but a little more attention to detail would have been appreciated.

Great location close to the marina, and nice, spacious, clean unit, with privacy for two friends travelling together and good facilities. Pleasant surroundings and parking right outside which was important as I have limited mobility. We found a great, very reasonably priced fish and chip shop at Farm Cove Takeaways which we intended to take down to Buckland Beach but we couldn't find a way to access it by car (which we needed due to my mobility issues), so we found a spot by the Macleans Park instead.

The fan in the room wasn't sufficiently effective to keep me cool enough at night (we were there in January, so it was hot), and it was a bit noisy - the unit would really benefit from a heatpump with cooling/aircon, or a more effective plug-in airconditioning unit.

Half Moon Bay Motel exceeded our expectations. The place was very large and comfortable and had a kitchen and fridge with a lovely out door seating facing the sea. The beds were comfortable and there was a nice divider between our sons bed and our bed with a large seating area. We loved how quiet it was with no road noise and there was a lovely view of the sailing harbour. Everything we needed was walking distance to walking boardwalk, cafes, grocery stores, restaurants and the sea! I even found a post office beside the cafes. A wonderful getaway for our family. We will definitely stay again.

2nd time I've stayed there 1st time it was room 5 witch was amazing apart from a huge hole in the wall 2nd time was room 6 the holder in the shower was broken and for some reason it had a old TV that you couldn't stream to 🤷‍♂️ both rooms had things the other room didn't, also I had spoken to owners the day I booked about late check out they said 12 is ok then on the say tried telling me no 10 am so we ended up settling on 11am check out 😒

The units were spacious, very clean, bed configuration was perfect. Bathroom was all we needed and easy access for me, lovely spot not far from supperette and restaurant. Plenty of parking. We were a large whanau group so perfect spot.

My only suggestions were maybe a dust pan and brush would have been useful, a few more kitchen things like mixing bowls.

excellent location as we had a medical appointment at Half Moon Bay and easy walk to all facilities a bit of a mix up with our request for a ground floor room as I had just had leg surgery and could not walk upstairs but it was sorted quickly to our satisfaction

Could have had a little more equipment in the kitchen as it was an apartment with cooking facilities. Couldn’t get the oven to work (may have been us?), no washing up bowl or other equipment to serve a salad in or re-heat food in the microwave

Great location, 2 minutes walk to the marina and shopping centre from your room(The motel is open to the marina carpark at the back). Great restaurants, amazing food. Countdown, chemist etc Water pressure was good, bathroom a little tried. Very quiet spot for all that was around it. Summer maybe different but as a winter place to stay, I would stay again

No, heat pump just an oil heater. Made sure to leave on when out, to warm the room but only kept the chill off. No bed side tables, moved main table to put the phone, water bottle etc on. Stayed three nights, had to ask for fresh towels ! Not a place I would bring small children too, open to the water, streets in every direction!
