The place waz conveniently located to the buses and ferry and train station. Despite not being close to the airport, you can get to this place in less than an hour. Took the express train for $18US and the ride was 48 minutes and 13 minutes walk total. There were grocery stores and lots of restaurants nearby. One thing I did not like about this hostel is that the kitchen is too small and I had to buy takeout instead of fighting my way in the kitchen. The room where I stayed was quiet. There were 5 other females staying the night and they were all very kind.

Very central location, I was surprised to see how close it is to the supermarket, shopping strips, park, gym, Sky Tower etc… I noticed that common room cleaning happens very often, I think in the morning and evening, to combat the very regular usage of toilets etc… Staff is very helpful and friendly. Laundry powder is free, and while the place do not have laundromat, the nearest is only a block away.

Common rooms are small and can get overcrowded during peak times. Top bunks had no barrier preventing you from falling while sleeping. TV room is well used for events or if you want quiet time, but is overshadowed by grotty furniture, smell and stains/ liquid leaks. Sometimes people do not respect curfews and play loud music past 10pm but tends to only happen on fri/sat nights. Not enough space to store groceries and cold store items, making me more comfortable eating out than making my own dinner.

Staff are very responsive for Kate check in, just call the number on the door. The LOCATION of this place is PERFECT!! It’s right by the Skytower…so no matter where you are in the city all you have to do to get back is look for the Skytower! So many things to do nearby, and also great food, even next door at the chicken place which stays open until 3 am. There’s a bottle shop next door also. A full grocery store about a block away. Pubs and casino are the next block over.

Don’t put anything in the FREE area of the fridge…it will disappear. Also, keep checking on your refrigerated items because other people will move your stuff the the free section and then it will disappear.

The hostel is in the centre of the city and you can reach everything by foot. Even when you’re arriving late you can still check in and it is very simple and fast to do. The staff was always friendly and helpful. The mixed dorm room has double bunk beds with comfortable mattresses and covers. If you want to keep your belongings safe you can use the lockers in the room. In the kitchen you can store your food, cook, toast, microwave or even bake your meals. On tables spread throughout the room you can prepare and eat your food or just hang out with fellow travelers. There even is a TV-room with a book exchange. And in the hall are some sofas to chill or play board games provided by the hostel. Sometimes people even sing together.

Some of the stovetops were broken and when everyone wanted to cook you sometimes had to wait. And if you were there at the wrong time they ran out of forks and spoons. The whole hostel is a bit run down, for example the curtains were still hanging, but barely and sitting on the sofas it felt more like sitting on a wooden box. What was really inconvenient was the lack of sockets on the bed. You always had to wait for your phone to charge instead of charging it on the side. But even complaining seems petty for this price and everything they offer.

I stayed in a 6-bed female dorm at this hostel, and overall, the experience was good. Firstly, the hostel's location is excellent, making it very convenient to go anywhere. The view from the room was amazing, and you could see the Sky Tower from the window. The staff were very friendly and provided warm service. Lastly, the price isn’t considered expensive.

The soundproofing in the hostel isn't great, and some guests stay up late, which can affect sleep quality. Additionally, the kitchen's refrigerator and storage shelves were mostly full, so if you plan to cook yourself, it might require some consideration.

Convenient location to CDB Very Clean

A couple of let downs.... 1. Bed was so uncomfortable with the springs not having a topper pad. 2. People gathered all hours to talk in the hallway. This made it harder to get good sleep

It was a good location to shops. I could easily go out for a day trip around the town. The kitchen was well equipped with what I needed. The bed was comfy and other guests in my dorm were respectful in terms of noise levels and turning on/off the lights. Good location to the bus station where the InterCity and airport buses depart from.

The doors shut quite loudly and you could here neighboring doors shutting too. My dorm was next to the common area and there was some sort of party going on late at night with loud music.

Location, location, location.

Nothing I really intensely disliked, I got what I paid for. I see some comments complaining about aged facilities and vagrants outside but hey man, be ffr, that's the whole of Auckland CBD if we're being honest with ourselves 🤷🏻‍♀️ it's in the heart of the city and it is what it is 🤷🏻‍♀️

For a budget hostel, I think this is already good, considering the factors below: Location - it is in the CBD of Auckland, and right across the Sky Tower so everything is almost accessible on foot (Queen St., Viaduct, The Civic/Aotea Square, Intercity Bus Terminal, groceries, restaurants, etc.) Staff - they are super friendly, approachable, and helpful Cleanliness - it isn't exceptional, but it isn't that dirty as what other reviews here say. It is basically well kept. The common areas may look untidy and don't smell good, but I guess it is because of the condition of the building (looks old, well at least for me, and the lighting is a bit dim due to warm-colored bulbs I suppose). Showers and toilets were clean during my stay, although they quite smell musty (tip: a little room fragrance will help). This is a hostel so one should not expect a five star service with the price paid.

More on points to improve, not that I didn't like: The pillows - too soft and quite thin that you don't almost feel you have one at all while lying in bed. Maybe a thicker pillow will do, or at least provide two per bed. The bunk - they're quite wobbly and creaky. I used the top bed of the bunk (and I am quite on the heavy side) so it is a challenge for me to go up and down without the loud creaking sound and the wobble. The house rule on noise - most of my roommates were loud even at the wee hours of the night so it is quite challenging to sleep if you are sensitive to sound. Maybe the management can be stricter in enforcing this rule as courtesy to other guests who wanted to rest early.

The staff was very nice and welcoming. The hostel is constantly cleaned everywhere, too, which is great. The kitchens and bathrooms are pretty much always accessible.

The beds can be a little hard to sleep on, but the staff will gladly give you an additional blanket to sleep on to make the mattress softer.
