The staff were so welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The hotel is beautiful and the room was a good size and very comfortable. We loved the extra touches that the hotel put in place - the library that offered a relaxing spot and complimentary port; and the thank you for staying gift left at our door. The hotel is very central and made getting to and from our event and trying out different dinning options, and enjoying the water front very easy.

The only thing we can think of is that there is another accommodation in the building across from our room that was a bit loud at night - I think they had all the windows open. However this was a very minor thing.

Loved this hotel! ALL staff from reception to cleaners were super friendly, polite and welcoming. We would’ve liked information about the history of this fascinating place and how it survived the earthquake. If you like modern, bland, anonymous hotels this isn’t for you because it is bursting with history and character! Spotlessly clean, great shower, comfy bed and blissful bedding. Free port to drink in the library, free fruit at reception! Oh and it’s in a quiet street but a perfect location near the seafront and all the Art Deco streets!

Angela the lovely young lady who greeted us and showed us to our room was so lovely and welcoming. She was very warm and friendly and made us feel very valued. The room we had was very spacious and more than adequate. We were very comfortable. We loved the bottles of water that were provided every day. Location was fantastic as we were able to walk to so many places. Having the carpark across the road was very convenient and we didn’t mind having to pay for it.

Only thing was that there was never any heating on in the lobby, stairs, or hallways so it always felt cold coming into the hotel.

Wonderful welcome by Angela. Lovely room. Everything we needed. A warm positive feeling in the Hotel. Beautiful wood panelling and original features, like staying in an early century mansion. Good privacy. Centrally located. Only used the car to visit vineyards. All we needed in short walking distance. Highly recommend this rare beautiful olde world Hotel. The Restaurant - Churchill's was superb - staff and food amazing.

The staff were exceptional with their service. The recommendation for dinner at The Firestation was perfect to celebrate my mums 89th birthday who I had booked to stay with while in Napier. Loved the library and the complimentary glass of port that evening. Great location being so central to the shopping area and Marine parade.

Could not fault our stay - I think the staff need to be congratulated - even if there was something to fault you would not with their level of attention.

This place has old fashioned elegance in bucket fulls. It was a joy to stay there. The staff were excellent, the room was comfortable, the food was excellent, there is parking directly opposite ($15pn) and the location was also excellent -with a few metres of the sea and main shopping area.

I loved the place but remember -it’s an elegant older lady not a beautiful young woman. If you like a plush modern place this may not be right for you

We love old hotels. The room was out of the 1800's and very roomy with a great bathtub! We had dinner at Churchhill restaurant downstairs, which is only open on the weekends. But if you get a chance to have one of their meals it was very delicious! Angela, is a great hostess, she met us at the front with a huge umbrella because it was raining. It was a very nice welcome to Napier!

We enjoyed everything about the property there was nothing that we did not like.

Whether for business or leisure, it's an establishment that we highly recommend and eagerly return to in Napier.

Restaurant not open all the time during Art Deco week. Every time it was open it was booked out. This should change especially since breakfast is not available on site.

Great location in this charming friendly establishment Quaint and luxurious interior goes hand in hand with top level service Whilst no breakfast good options available very close however the dinner was of exceptional standard and very good value Marvellous team overall ,good car parking opposite and just a wonderful place to stay. Book in and enjoy
