We had a good stay in the motel, even during the cold rainy days. The motel room is very clean, sufficiently warm. New towels were brought to our room every day. Although the hotel may be old, all things in the room work well. The induction stove with the oven is very good. We especially like to thank the motel personnel, very friendly and helpful. The hot pool was broken during the days we were there. So the hotel personnel offered us to use the spa hot tub in the spa holiday park, without charge. It was an enjoyable experience.

Our room was next to a through road. But it did not disturb our sleep.

Spent 2 nights here . Checked in for Friday 1st August 1300hrs. Checked out Sunday 3 rd August 1000hrs. Sole occupant. From the beginning I informed Flamingo about my need to store my kit with them as my plane was due to land 0730hrs that morning. They duly responded by a no problem can do attitude. Report to Simon - front desk I like that courtesy a name to ease things on arrival. After arriving via Scotts Airport Shuttles thanks driver Gary. I met Simon and my luggage was stored. And informed of the 1300hrs my room would be ready. I grabbed a pamphlet map of New Plymouth and checked out the City. Ideally located about 1km from the CBD. I planned my route taking in mind I had 5 hrs to kill. So I went down Belt Rd and took the Coastal walkway heading North towards the Town Centre. My reason for being here. Northland v Taranaki ... Ranfurly Sheild Im a long time supporter of the Taniwha Playing on Saturday night 1910hrs. I could write a book of what happened that weekend. Room a studio for a couple was immaculate full kitchen facilities bed was comfy. I didn't mind the extra expense Im on holiday so why not treat myself like a King. And Sunday came and the process was in reverse. Checkout 1000hrs store my kit go walkabout until 1610hrs uplift my gears Airport Shuttle pickup 1730hrs flight out. The rugby was the catalyst to be here but that was just a part of the whole. All in all Flamingo surpassed all my expectations and was a great base to work from and experience what New Plymouth had on offer. Oh I loved the indoor hot pool my body was rejuvenated Friday evening Saturday morning my old bones were smiling. Only one downside my team lost. Hahaha but thats Rugby ae. Thank you Taranaki I may never be back here again but great memories. It was a blast ... Mauri ora.

Very nice to be able to access the pools, both the outdoor one, and the warm indoor one. The location is good, not far from the coastal walkway, city centre.

There's been a change in ownership in the past couple of months. It's not the same feeling anymore, that of a family looking after you. The reception hours are limited as well. This has the effect that, for example, you get some rowdy people drinking at the indoor heated pool after dark, and there's no one you can go and talk to about it. That happened a couple of times while we were there.

The owner was absolutely lovely so kind and friendly he was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Our kids really enjoyed the two pools! It's great that they have both a heated and cold pool to choose from. The room was sparkling clean on arrival. We loved that they have all the sky tv channels to choose from and that the room had a heat pump which we definitely needed for air conditioning as it was so hot the day we turned up. Also the water pressure in the shower was amazing! I highly recommend to anyone that this is a great place to stay!

The kitchen and bathroom areas were a little dated but they made up for that with everything being sparkling clean!

So functional and comfortable for our whole family of four kids and two adults. Excellent facilities, easy to manage and so clean and tidy. The pools, both outdoor and cool and inside and hot, were epic. The playground so handy too! The kids would have been perfectly happy without even leaving the motel. Plates, cups, body wash, spare blankets, lush pillows etc…all awesome. A very prompt call to let us know we had left a couple of things behind…quick enough to catch us before we’d even left town. Great service!

Old school exterior but all perfectly fine for the price we paid. Warm, dry and had everything we needed.

Extremely clean room, with friendly and helpful staff. It was an easy and scenic twenty minute stroll along the waterfront to town. The pool was good for cooling off after enjoying hikes in Taranaki. Would stay here again! Most central activities are only five to ten minutes away by car, so it was a good base to explore Taranaki.

Had some terrible luck with the people in the unit below...drinking and blasting music past 1am. The motel itself was great, not much they can do when other guests aren't considerate.

This was our second time at the Flamingo. It's family friendly, it's excellent value for money. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We needed some soy sauce for some dumplings we bought, and they were very happy to give us some. We needed some ear plugs for one of the members of our family who forgot to bring them, and they were able to provide some. Very nice outdoor pool, and very nice indoor heated pool. The location is very good as well.

The Fantastic Flamingo absolutely delivered in every sense of the word. The anticipation building up to the stay was incredible, the gentlemen were experiencing sleepless nights prior to check in. We most enjoyed the expansive layout, natural lighting and complementary milk.

We didn’t like that we had to check out so soon! Didn’t quite get to enjoy all that the Flamingo had to offer! The pool certainly looked inviting and smelt as though the chemical levels were spot on.

The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The kitchen had pretty much all the utensils we needed (a pair of scissors and a sieve/colander would have made it perfect). The bed was comfortable and extra pillows were provided. There were a couple of little extra touches left for us when we arrived which was nice 😊

There were stairs to get up to our room so with two heavy cases that was a bit tricky. There were ground rooms so if stairs are a big issue it would be wise to request one of those. The motel was on a busy road (SH45) so a little tricky to get out of if turning right. Noise was not a problem though.

We loved the hot pool and the grassy space with a playground. The kids spent a lot of time outside when we were back at the motel. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The location is only a block or so away from the waterfront. The motel had all we needed, fully equipped kitchen (we cooked most nights), extra pillows, blankets, pool towels etc. We were comfortable and warm. The motel was clean and tidy.
