How modern the whole of the accommodation was. Not just old with a new bathroom, or new carpeting, new kitchen unit but all new looking. Stacker doors, good curtaining, and the family unit having a closed off lounge which was more than I expected. Bathroom also was roomier than usual up there with some of our nicer motel stays. Spacious, Diane and Stefan were both very attentive and obliging. The cute natural setting, goldfish in the pond and whether desired or not the little bunnies to welcome us each afternoon.

Um no real issue. What stopped it from being perfect, and I'm not even sure it's even a fault but the ceiling in Unit 5 has weird coloration/surface finish? Pity no safe walking path to anywhere. Bed side units were tiny. A mirror perhaps in the lounge attached to the wall, beside the tv would throw a bit of interest and light into the space. A compendium would also be a nice way to advertise what is available or where to find places of interest, For example no sign of a iron/iron board or was there a laundry room?

Remote from city noises yet so close to everything. It is ideal for travelers from metropolis like us because we are looking for somewhere very quiet but definitely not somewhere 30 mins away from cafes and shops! The picturesque garden was such a surprise for us and we decided to take some pre-wedding photos over there! Nice neighbor also helped us a lot. Thank you very much!

There were lots of bugs on the grass of the garden and we got serious bugs bite. (It was not the owner's fault. In a rural area it happens) There were no kitchen cooker hood so we had to open windows when cooking indoors. Mass bugs flew in at night.

Great location! A 10 minute drive to the CBD. Close enough to look at the shops and get groceries, further enough to have a quiet relaxing weekend away from the nightlife. Cooking facilities were great, we made use of the BBQ and kitchen and enjoyed being self sufficient. Parking was a breeze as we had a carport and we freely came and went from the property while exploring the local towns. Tv was great, Freeview was available but I would recommend taking a personal laptop to connect to the tv for the ultimate movie night! Wifi was excellent and we had no issues. Decent seating for a small group to gather round and watch some movies. Air con was perfect and very strong, overall accomodation was perfect. Staff were helpful and friendly when we required a top up of small consumables and an extra towel here and there.

If anything, the water pressure wasn’t the greatest particularly in the shower. This however was not an issue as there was always hot water and the shower was definitely above average compared to past experiences.

The owner's description of the place says it all. Ratunui villas is a very quiet laid-back place to relax. And yet, it was very convenient to town, the parks, beaches, and whatever you need. We visited during the cyclone instead of going to the Northland. Our host provided emergency supplies when we lost power (bottled water, torches, a camping stove) and communicated updates from the power company. We felt very well taken care of!

The only caveats I could mention is that the fridge did not have a real freezer compartment, although we could make a few ice-cubes. Also, it would have been nice to have a small private dining area outside, instead of the communal picnic table.

The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms were very well presented, extremely clean and modern. The beds were very comfortable. Not too far from town at all, in a nice peaceful place. Beautiful beautiful landscape and gardens. Dog friendly too! We had our dog with us, and there were 4 other families there with dogs too. It was fantastic, we all sat and chatting out the front of our rooms in the outdoor seating while all the dogs played together! The owners also can provide dog bowls if you forget yours. We definitely will stay again, a very nice place! We loved our stay. Can't speak more highly!

We stayed two nights, with our dog, in a studio room. Everything was clean and very tidy. The kitchenette had a microwave and two-ring hob. Kitchen was well equipped, so we had everything we needed for two people. Bedding was spotless. The room was a good size, so the dog could move around. Note: you have to supply your own dog bowls/bedding, but they have spares if you forget. The grounds are well laid out and pleasant to walk your dog around, plenty of room to play (for kids as well). There is a wee one-hole putting pitch too. Also, there is an indoor swimming pool which is not stated on Booking.com, pity as I would have taken my togs. There were several guests staying with children and we hardly noticed them, the noise level was very low. So a good night's sleep was had by all (incl the dog!). Location is excellent for New Plymouth. Diane and Stefan were excellent hosts, very approachable, and Di was brilliant with our dog. We would definitely go back, such a peaceful setting.

A few small things to note: Wi-fi a tad iffy, my partner could join but I couldn't. Not a biggie as I had loads of data. A small coffee table would be nice for when you're having a drink and watching TV as there's nowhere to rest your cup, but we improvised with the chilly-bin. For dog owners: the property is not fully fenced all the way round, so we had to keep the dog on his long lead when out. The next door neighbour has an electric fence, and my daft pooch stuck his big nose thru the fence and got zapped, mind you, he only did it once and gave the fence a wide berth after that :-)

Lovely setting for this comfortable accommodation on 5 acres / 2 hectares of grounds with mature trees and only 7 motel units and a cottage. Hard working hostess looked after the rooms daily. Ratanui is 5 kms from the NW Supermkt in the centre of town and Carrington road takes you right past the various access points to Pukekura and Brookland Park.

Easy 10 min drive from city and set in a stunning garden setting. Interiors were clean, in excellent condition. Lots of nice extra touches, including soaps and various lotions in bathroom, and a 600ml milk in fridge (plus the usual teas and coffees). Kitchenette with dishwasher microwave, gas cooktop etc made self catering easy. Laundromat and New World supermarket a short drive away. Enjoyed walking amongst the flowering rhododendrons and established trees, many of which have protected tree status. Good wifi. Able to park directly outside the unit as we were the only ones there.

Nothing to dislike.

Loved the view,the peace and quiet and Stefan was an awesome host.We could not leave due to the weather and the roads had all been closed.We asked Stefan if we could stay another two days and he said no problem. The only thing that I didn't like was having to waste the water.The hot water was very slow to heat up but when it did it was perfect.

Such a lovely serene situation. That (and having two beds) was the reason for our booking. Minor problems we mentioned were dealt with promptly. I would definitely recommend Ratanui Villas.

Unusually, interference on the television made hearing it difficult. But we also mentioned this and I am sure it will be sorted as well.
