The place was really welcoming and the host was really friendly towards us. He went above and beyond with his service. We had to provide our own food and that we had to share the kitchen with other guests. The location was great and that it only takes a good 5-10mins drive to town. The location is also near the esplanade where you can go out for a walk inside the grounds and out onto the track or even just play out to the park or run around the field.

The room was lovely and big - the shower had amazing pressure, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Travelling with a toddler having the kitchen is a MUST I was very impressed!

It was super HOT 27° and the unit had no air conditioning (not a massive issue just a picky one) overall very happy with the accommodation, location, comfortable, everything you need! The little baskets on the beds make for a lovely glamorous touch! ,

The Big Five staff are friendly and accommodating. Have stayed many times at the Big 5 and they the staff have always ensured the room is clean and tidy and even when away they come in and do a great job of house keeping

there were some guests of young girls and they seem to laugh and giggle way over the quiet time for the motel. Not sure if this group was supervised as no one seem to not tell them to quiet down in respect of other guests

The staff were so friendly especially reception, went above and beyond and was lovely and friendly. Very clean, well maintained and reasonably central to the shopping square and esplanade. Also loved that had a large fridge/freezer rather than bar fridge as we stayed five nights.

Not alot of space in bedrooms to put luggage etc, lounge/ kitchen was cosy but quite small and bathrooms had no towel hooks (small issue) but we still loved our stay and would come back

Great location - perfect place to stay with a dog! the Esplanade Gardens is right next door basically - our dog loved her stay.

Was all good - the heater was quite small for the size of the room and took a while to heat it. Also would love for the ice trays to be full in the freezer - it is such a tease having a tray but no ice! A small thing but would have made our stay even better than it was.

Lovely well sized and tidy room with friendly staff.

Room was quite cold and the little heater struggled to heat it … and too noisy to leave on at night so room was freezing by morning. Would have also really appreciated a shelf or something in bathroom to put personal items on so don’t have to place clothes on the toilet or floor to shower.

Very reasonably priced. There was a large group of us, we had rooms close together. Our room (2 bedroom) was very comfortable and clean. Although friends of ours had trouble with a broken tap and toilet, which may need updating. Other than that, the location was away from town but suited us. No traffic noise.

The two-bedroom kitchen was a little on the small side

The staff were helpful and very friendly-we lost our way and she gave us the right directions and was very pleasant. Lovely welcome.

We would have preferred a bigger room. There was no accommodation in Palmerston North due to there being a big hockey tournament. We were very grateful to get that last room.

I'm not sure how people sleep in this area, there were multiple dogs in the neighbouring houses that apparently get left outside at night and they barked non-stop all night. I was concerned about having my dogs with me in our vehicle, but they didn't make a noise.

Very clean and the fact it’s pet friendly was perfect, makes travel with our fur baby so much less stressful

I felt bad leaving our dirty dishes as there was no where to wash them. Lighting was also very dim in our room, still good but could’ve been alittle bit brighter as one light didn’t work
