The cottage was charming and set up for easy access to the things I needed. A jetted tub with lavender gel handy was a bonus I had not anticipated. I had a nice long soak, so relaxing! Plenty of pillows and space. It was peaceful and quiet. I had some work to do, so I used the wifi - no problems. I also watched Netflix via wifi - again no problems. The coffee bag (like a tea bag but for making coffee) was something new and made great coffee. I had problems accessing UberEats, no one would deliver, and I was too tired to drive out in search of dinner in the evening. Upon hearing my problem (and noticing I was getting a bit hangry), the hosts offered a kind accommodation that had me fed and content in a very short time. I really appreciated that as it had been a long day of driving and I needed food and rest. My problem was in no way their fault, but they were willing and able to help. I felt their conduct and kindness went above and beyond.

If there was a place I could have easily walked to for food, especially without crossing that diabolical busy street in Taupo, that would have been nice. But then I would not have been in such a peaceful lakeside setting, so you have pluses and minuses either way.

Great location next to the lake via a garden walkway. Two Mile Sailing Club minutes walk up the road for pizzas & beers etc or only a few minutes to town by car. We were travelling with our son on return to Uni in Wellington. Our two storey one bedroom cottage had a double bed upstairs with two single beds downstairs which gave us all a bit of space & privacy. Sky TV, clean and tidy apartment with a spa bath, two separate bathrooms & shower plus an outside area with table and chairs.. Lots of easy parking. Quiet at night. Would happily stay again.

Due to the excellent, hot weather, the upstairs bedroom was very hot at night, even with the window's open. There is an air-conditioning / heat pump unit but it is downstairs in the living quarters and single beds area. The double bed was a bit soft, but some people like it that way - so no complaints and we enjoyed our overnight stay.

Private & furnished courtyard. Upstairs balcony with lake view. Plenty of comfortable seating. Large airing cupboard. Taste of yesteryear with some original features/fittings - coloured "whiteware", retro analog wall clock, bevelled wooden handrail, lovely wooden toilet seats with brass hinges, contoured spa bath for two. Private walkway to hot-water bathing spot in lake and quick access to Lake Taupo's great walk/cycle pathways (bikes & kayaks for hire at site).

It was perfect. Will stay again.

It’s an exceptionally clean and well-appointed property and quite conveniently located… the up and down setup is a joy for the kids and the neat little sit-out area just outside the rooms on the lower level is the perfect recess for parents and adults… for tea or random chats about life or nothing! Plus, you have the shores of Lake Taupo literally a skip and a hop away from your door… you could not ask for more… and you have reception open until 8 PM… in case you ever want to complain about anything… naah, just kidding! The folks are super nice and completely make sure your stay is just the way you would like it to be!

There was nothing negative at all for us.

Perfect hosts,cleaning spotless, gardens beautiful lots of extras.Very private geat size room .Out side area beautiful it has to be the best motel I have stayed at heap this on is totally awesome, clean tidy,great quick walk to lake ,so much to write about 10/10 for everything. I will be going back I didn't want to leave thank you you people made a perfect stay.I also loved the extras ,pictures beding was great so many things .This is how a motel should be like. Highly recommend. Loved it.

Nothing every thing was perfect

Location! The lake is superb down the little walkway. Safe and easy. Great steaming hot showers Really nice staff willing to help and great to be able to take our little dog.

We’ve been visiting for years as we love the location, the dog friendliness and the lovely staff, but it’s feeling a little bit tired in places like the courtyard gardens and the bathrooms. To be fair, dealing with the black sand of Taupō lake probably takes its toll on the bathroom floors!

Cute two story cottage and great location to lake.

When entering the office you are immediately hit with an extreme smokers smell. We asked what that smell was and the man said it was air fresher. We then we to our room and were smacked in the face with an overwhelming old lady air fresher. I asked the man at the office to come help and all he did was say to open a window. The downstairs was the only room drenched in smell, the top wasn’t touched.

Greeted warmly. Excellent*****Nook room fantastic. So clean, comfy bed. All the facilities supplied you would need. Easy to park. Lovely walk access path to the lake. Quick drive into town, food, so many restaurants to chose from, shops, and main marina. Did a 2hr tour around the lake, on the Earnest Kemp, spectacular. Weather bit chilly, full sunny day, so lucky. Highly recommend Cottage Mews for your stay in Taupo. ,

Absolutely nothing.

We were in Room 4, kt was clean and comfortable. Coming from Auckland to Taupo and with the extremly cold weather outside our room was nice and warm. Thank you for the wall heater, heat pump and electric blankets were fantastic, it made the experience great. It had great facilities, everything you needed. Tha staff were very friendly and helpful.

There was only 1 thing. The taller single bed downstairs in the middle looked like it was a bit broken and not as stable or firm like the other bed.
