This is not a slick new hotel, but rather a hotel with a long history of offering a high standard of rooms and food. It has been well looked after, and the staff seem to be very keen to make sure you are comfortable. The hotel sits right on the edge of Lake Taupo and every room has a view of the lake. On the ground floor you can just step out of your room onto the lake path. There was a table and chairs in a small porch area which was a great place to watch life go by. My dinner in the restaurant was superb, and the staff were attentive and efficient. I also had breakfast at the hotel. The flat rate for breakfast delivered a range of cereals, breads, and cooked food that was well-presented. One of the better hotel breakfasts I've had in NZ lately. But perhaps the best thing of all was that the bed was superbly comfortable, with that wonderful combination of being firm but with a soft top layer so that you felt you were floating. There was also a good range of pillows on the bed, so you could easily find one that suited. I had a superb sleep there.

Nothing really. I'd have liked to be able to exit my room via the ranchslider and lock it behind me, but it appears that has never been possible - the ranchslider doors don't have locks. Not that it was far to go to the lake edge via my lockable door.

We had a very comfortable stay for three days. Our room was located on the first floor with stunning views of Lake Taupo. It was truly amazing to wake up each morning to the sight of joggers passing by along the lake. The room also featured a private spa and a king-sized bed, which were wonderful additions. Thank you for making our stay so memorable!

The only concern during our stay was with their restaurant. We found it to be quite pricey for the portion sizes, which were smaller compared to other restaurants in Taupo that we visited for similar dishes.

The view was beautiful, and the food was good too. I would have liked a poached egg as part of the choices; scrambled eggs are not everyone’s preference, but that is a minor detail. The staff was exceptional and provided outstanding service.

We could hear every step and sound from our neighbors above us. It was difficult to watch TV because their music and noise were so loud, but we were relieved that they did not go past 11 PM with the noise. Additionally, our TV wasn't a smart TV, which meant there were limited options for things to watch. We were two people in the room and the milk was enough for one person. Maybe adding one more milk would be a good idea.

It's about a 5min drive from the town centre, very convenient location and good reception staff. The lake view from the room is awesome, and when it's clear you can enjoy watching the sunset from your room. The bed is large and comfy, I had an issue with the bathroom door which was quickly resolved by the reception staff (and plus free dinner as a remedy). Amazing staying experience and keep it up!

Our 3 night stay was wonderful and relaxing. We loved the hotel's location being on the waterfront of the lake with a walking/cycling path right outside. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and had a very comfortable bed. We overlooked the heated swimming pool, which we enjoyed using. There was outside seating and also a lovely lounge area inside looking out to the lake where we sat and had a drink. We brought a voucher from reception for breakfast on our last morning, it was a very yummy buffet breakfast. Free parking on site. A great place to stay.

There was nothing we didn't like.

The people at the front desk and the restaurants were super friendly, and Amisda gave amazing service at the restaurant. The room was very clean. The shower was awesome, with great water pressure and heat. The bed was comfy too. Plus, the room looked out over the lake. It's a great hotel if you want a chill vacation. I'd totally come back.

Can refill breakfast foods frequently. One morning I showed up at 8:30 AM; most foods were gone. Another morning I showed up at 8 AM; the food was good.

lovely balcony and view over the lake and Taupo Heated pool well used by the children, they enjoyed the facilities!

We paid for the additional breafkast but felt it was very expensive and limited choice and value for what we paid compaired to other places we styed on our travels through NZ. Coffee and hot chocolates (loved by my son) were not included in the price. CHildren were reduced rate but still very expensive, given the limited choice it was some expensive 2 slices of toast! We did not pay for breakfast the next day and brough pastires from the local supermarket.

Bed was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever been in. Shower was the best shower as well, the water pressure was very powerful!! Was awesome to just walk out our room next to the lake.

The tv wasn’t the best, not much to choose from and not accessible. Eg. tv too old and you can’t access apps (Disney+ / YouTube / Netflix etc.) The bed was very comfortable but when I got into the room after check in, the leg was broken of corner of bed base. The leg would stay in there after I put in back in but it kept coming off/out. When leaving our room to go for a walk out front by the lake, we had to go around the motel out by the road because we couldn’t lock the slider door on outside, it could only be locked on the inside. Fire alarm went off around 11:30pm, all of motel had to evacuate out front and it wasn’t a very good emergency evacuation procedure but’ there was only one staff member on. Fire brigade had arrived and some people were just starting to walk out there rooms.

The view was superb. Easy access to walks. The bar/lounge area was very welcoming. The bed was amazing. The live music was awesome. Very friendly staff.

Our room was above the lounge and the base sound from the vocalist/guitarist was annoying. I felt the dinner menu was a little basic. We had very noisy children close by as well as the staff cleaning cupboard which was also a bit noisy when trying to sleep in.

Breakfast was amazing, view was spectacular everywhere. Room was large and beds were comfy. Staff were lovely and helpful. Had lush robes!

It was a very windy night and the balcony had a cover that was flapping the whole night. Kept our daughter up. The room was not very clean, heaps of rubbish under the beds, black hair left in the sink and black hair on the pillow. Shower didn't look very clean with mould in some of the grouting.
