perfect for what we needed, an overnight stay while travelling north, the place was clean and the owner very friendly and accomodating. Close enough to the town, and quiet. One thing I do like is good water pressure in the shower and this place has it.

the bed was too hard for me, but i know you cant please everyone and everyone has different preferences with mattress firmness. definitely not a negative review about the place and would not stop me from booking again in the future

Friendly, welcoming hosts. Suite was clean, quiet and had everything we needed for a short stay. Really comfy bed, decent blackout curtains/blinds and shower had great pressure and temperature. Liked the 70s retro styling which added character. Parking right out front of unit and access to a tidy garden out the back. Great value for money, would return again.

We booked early evening as was traveling from Wellington after a funeral. We were contacted to check we were still intending to stay as we booked on line. Gave the lady our expected arrival time she had put the heaters on so it would be warm when we arrived and a light in each room so we knew which rooms were ours.

Nothing it was basic but had everything we needed.

If i had to nitpick the 50s retro furniture is not extremely comfortable The stand alone rooms are preferable to the upstairs downstairs block for me as i travel with 2 wee dogs with acute hearing haha

The Lake Motel was a clean, tidy and quaint place to stay. The rooms were set up with Retro Vibes... and it was fun to stay in a 'mini 60's Retro Museum' for a couple of nights. The Hosts were welcoming and helpful and we had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay. The Motel was a little way away from the town centre, but it was nice to have the quiet and be away from the hustle and bustle of Taupo township. Location wise, it was close to the Debrett's Hot Pools. Also a wonderful and economical trip down memory lane. A very enjoyable stay.
