Convenient location in central Taupo. Excellent restaurant on site.

Room was cold when I arrived and took some time to make comfortable. Don’t think I managed to find a good setting for the heat pump all night. The bathroom remained outside the heated zone all night. As requested I was given a ground floor accessible room, unfortunately the floor between the bathroom and living area was built with a small slope. For someone agile it wouldn’t be a major problem, however for someone uneasy on his feet and coming from the wet bathroom floor this was stressful. Wish I understood the reason behind all the ‘rules’. No noise, no parties, no cooking strong smelling food, etc etc. Should have realised from their initial welcome email it could be a strained experience.

We loved the facilities, location, views and staff. The pool and playground allowed for us adults to relax and put our feet up while keeping the kids entertained. It was also very hand having the restaurant on site - beautiful, spacious and faces the lake for stunning morning/evening views. Great location as the hotel is a short walk from the city centre, restaurants, shops, and the lake which is right in front of the hotel. Some of us had stunning views of the lake from our rooms and we would watch the parasailers, jet skiers, golfers (hitting into the lake), etc etc. All staff were lovely and friendly - cleaners, groundsman, waiters, reception.

Lovely breakfast options but I would have liked to have seen a little more options at the restaurant on the property, maybe pancakes/waffles? Other than that, there is nothing else we did not like.

It is a very good hotel located just across Taupo Lake. You can sit in the small veranda and have views of Taupo Lake. What I particularly liked in this hotel is their flexibility in accommodating our needs. Initially, they gave us a room on 1st floor (without an elevator). When I told them that our luggage are too heavy to carry them all the way from the stairs, they immediately changed and gave us a room on the ground floor. Last but not least, their restaurant Lionel's is a top rated restaurant, where we ate delicious food and were serviced in an exceptional way by Barbara and Matt.

We had a magnificent view of the lake and snow capped mountain, it was very relaxing. Our room was right across the road from the park, we happened to be there on a weekend and on Sunday there was a huge market, what a bonus. The staff was very helpful, unfortunately the restaurant was closed for renovations but they offered room service and were only too pleased to cater to our requests. The room was spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable. Guest laundry was two doors down and very convenient. I highly recommend the Suncourt Hotel.

There wasn't a table and chairs only the desk to eat off but under normal circumstances with the restaurant operational I guess it's not needed.

It's technically a motel, but if it really is one, it's the best motel I've ever seen in my life. Although having said that - New Zealand in general has great motels, so maybe it's what's to be expected.

I stayed on a night when the hotel (and in fact, all of Taupo) was near-sold out and the price per night was staggering. Think: 4 star-hotel in central Manhattan, NYC. I've checked and on other nights it tends to be more normal, but what I paid was absolutely abusive. So the price/quality ratio is critically bad from my perspective.

Love the front rooms of this hotel. Such a nice view of the lake we love it and tidy clean modern rooms. Location is great and a small walk to town. Markets are usually on at the park across the road Sunday mornings. Reception is very welcoming and friendly to deal with.

Previous times we have stayed we have had a king bed. This time we got a double. Double is just too small for two adults and i would suggest to upgrade to a queen at the least. I get it’s a smaller room but with the double you are right on the edge as it is and the electric blanket plug dug right in to my shoulder as there isn’t much room to move away. Do love the rooms however - just recommend upgrading size of the beds. If you get a reasonable rate for the rooms it is worth it. The rates can sometimes be quite pricey.

VERY comfortable hotel in a truly perfect location. Beautiful view overlooking the lake. Close to town for selection of restaurants and shops. Outstanding breakfast. (Try the French toast!!). Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean, well-appointed - amazing water pressure. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

There is no lift, and the best views are on the top floor. (There are only 2 floors.) If you have lots of bags, just keep that in mind.

Loved the view! Easy walking along the lake promenade, and restaurant food was excellent 😊 The room was the cleanest we’ve ever seen in an NZ motel/hotel. Not a cobweb or dust in sight, and no mould in the bathroom! Excellent 😊

We did ask for a quiet room, however we were disturbed by other guests, on both sides. Some people talk very loud; and I wish other guests would realise we don’t all stay up till 2am! Items missing in the room that we expected to be there: a complimentary shower cap in the bathroom; a dishcloth/teatowel - couldn’t wipe down the kitchen sink; and also the fridge wasn’t very cold. We couldn’t refreeze our ice packs for our Eski. No way to turn the temperature up or down.

Insane lake views which you can see from the comfortable large bed (upstairs), large bathroom with a big vanity that can easily take two bathroom bags, great shower, yummy white towels, amazing staff, great food and coffee, what's not to like?

The bath was tiny and we didn't think two people could fit so didn't bother. Also no bath oil. The pool wasn't heated and the hot tubs were out of action. But everything else made up for it.

Location view and space in the room were fantastic. LOVED the hot tub, had a few sessions in there on the cold days.

Staff on arrival were training so the next day we were locked out of room due to key card not working. Fixed quickly though and with a smile. You use the key card in a slot in your room to turn the power on. However when you go out for the day or to dinner at night, because you need the key card for access it means the heaters in the room turn off so you come back to freezy cold room.
