Possibly just a miscommunication between booking.com and the property but at check-in, the property staff (reception), didn't appear to be aware of the payment that was made through Booking.com even though it had been made a week prior to check in. They wanted to charge my credit card before I insisted they check that payment had already been made in full with Booking.com.

cheap price,close to town,lake taupo across the road,unit consists of a lounge with two single beds and a couch ,then a kitchen and even tho we didn't use the kitchen it was fully kitted out with enough equipment to cook home meals.the shower had great heat and water pressure. queen size bed was comfy,and room had ranchslider to own outside area,the staff were very easy going,no dramas

curtains in lounge area are pretty much see through, which made us a little uncomfortable as we are not used to so many people( we live rurally ) only because i left my own shampoo at home,i didnt like having to squeeze the motels shampoo out of a paper sachet...yet so glad they provided some! in the summer months they should provide a fan. out of those 3 ,curtains most definitely need replacing

I loved the staff!! The manager and his wife were really lovely to deal with. There was a flooding incident in our kitchenette, due to human error, and they were so kind, caring and understanding of the situation. I loved the mineral pool!! It was nice to be able to come back and fill the tub up, and have a good soak before bed. My 5 and 3 year old loved it too! The rooms met our every need. They were tidy and spacious. The bathroom and spa area were very clean. The kitchenette was well stocked with everything you would need to cook a meal, and the chromecast to keep the little ones occupied was an added bonus. The cost was very cheap, considering the fact that we had a mineral spa in each room. I rented two mineral spa rooms next to one another. One for my teenage boys, and another for myself and my young daughters. I would highly recommend staying here, and will be using Karaka Tree Motel in the future. Ngā mihi, Many thanks

The parking situation would probably be the only downfall about Karaka Tree motel. It would be great if there were numbered parking spots for each room. If you got back to the motel too late, you would have to park far from your room, and when you are traveling with little ones, it's hard having to go back and forth to the car to pack or unpack.

Great communication at reception. Owner with Uber driving information was awesome times they were available for.

Did not receive complementary milk on arrival.As I enter the room it was fairly clean.went into bathroom can tell the floors were not vacuumed still dust and hair left behind door, in the fridge was left ice cream so not checking the fridge when cleaning as being a passed cleaner with experience they must check there room after cleaning must be to the standard that your guest will be comfortable and no comments like this you will not receive thanks.

Good location. Was clean and comfortable. Spa pool in the room was great. The heat was amazing after getting home late at night after our shift although it was very dated and could do with upgrading.

Heater on the wall didn’t work and no aircon/heat pump. Was given a very small fan heater to heat the room. Shower was horrible. Nice pressure but no hot water at all so having a freezing cold shower on a winters morning to try and get ready for work was not nice at all.

One of the staff members very friendly to our group, Great location & rooms average. Great sized bathroom towels.

Beds not what I was expecting in rooms thought we had one double and two single in each room but no. Parking we had 5 rooms booked so assumed our van would get into the parks but had no parks available for us at all. Rooms need updating cupboards falling off, fridges not working properly, appliances not up to standard in rooms that's if you had everything and TV's not working properly

Had traveled from Wellington and was very tired. The bed was comfy, and the room had everything

No milk was provided on my arrival. Got given the wrong room key but it still opened the room. People drinking outside were noisy. Even though I put the chain on, someone still tried to open/push my door because it was opened slightly. I was too tired to get upset about it. Having a room by the Bins was terrible! But all n all I would still go back. Why would you not 🥰

Private in-room mineral pool, lakefront walk path to hot water beach, very clean linen and towel, very friendly front desk lady and dog-friendly. The motel was full but there is always a carpark near our unit we can find.

Dated room design, furniture and fittings but very comfortable bed is good enough. Early morning and late afternoon mineral pool go through long water heating process when filling up the tub, so you get a lot of cold water before getting the warm enough water so it ended up not hot enough to soak at night but we still had very good soak during our stay.

Private spa with thermal/mineral water was luxury, you fill it yourself so can have the heat you want. (I filled spa a third full in evening for a lovely soak and topped up in morning to heat it up for another soak so not to use too much water) Upstairs room was very private and super quiet and dark for sleeping. Staff were lovely and friendly and helpful. The building is older but quite fine and had everything needed - hairdryer, shampoo and conditioner etc. Super comfy bed and nice bed linens.

Some may not like that the building is older style but for me it was perfect.

The room was quite roomy! Comfortable bed. Liked how the windows didn't open all the way. Had access to all facilities. Friendly receptionist too!

Unfortunately i didn't stay long enough to enjoy the spa. I think I should have stayed longer. I think it would be great if the hotel communicated with me before I arrived as I had a few questions, but that was sorted when I talked to the receptionist.
