The location and views were magnificent. The lady on reception was very friendly and helpful. We were a little anxious about sharing a bathroom, but it was very well planned. There were 3 lovely big individual shower rooms with a separate changing area. The toilets were separate. It was super clean, and the beds were really comfortable. Gudvangen is worth the stay. The Viking Valley is very interesting if you're genuinely interested in Viking history. Once the coaches have left, Gudvangen becomes really peaceful. We had a fantastic pizza sitting outside by the fjord at the bakery in the evening. They also do amazing pastries for breakfast. I think the hotel does itself a disservice by the name budget hotel and may put people off staying.

Good breakfast, conveniently right off the boat. Most importantly, the owner was a saint, helping us out immensely with our booking to help us not need to walk around so much given my father's condition. At the end they also gave us a ride to the bus stop, which was unexpectedly far from us. Very thankful for their kindness.

Really the only thing lacking is ventilation in the shower room, though this seems to be consistently missing in hotels all over Norway, so I can't fault them too much here. Everything else was great.

in the heart of the town. couldnt get a better location than that! You had the mountains right there beside you to wake up to. I didnt stay in gudvangan enough but i dont think there was a better located room to stay in except this one.

was quite bothered that i had booked my room with breakfast included only for the staff to stay there was no such thing as breakfast included with the room and it was something i had to pay additionally for. Even though booking.com showed I had breakfast included. It was quite shocking and I was quite irritated because the breakfast I had was below average and i had paid a large sum of nearly £15 which is 220 krone (for a toast and boiled egg with really the worst coffee ever). Had I gone back in time, i wouldnt have had paid for that breakfast and instead taken a bus to flam where I would have eaten something much more enjoyable and worth the money

We stayed in Gudvangen for 3 nights early May. Initially we booked Gudvangen Budget Hotel. While check-in we were informed that the premises were being prepared for the summer season and we granted a stay at Cudvangen Fjordtell courtesy of the management. We were happy with such an unexpected upgrade to say the least. The room view was incredible overlooking 3 waterfalls just out of the window. The room had a separate entrance, was rather spacious; there was a bathroom and a WC in the room. As for the facilities, there was a soft cozy bed, a flat TV for those who cares, a fridge, a microwave oven, an electric kettle, some disposable tea-ware. The room, which had been redecorated not long before, was clean and quiet. There was a hairdryer, immaculate towels, some soap in the bathroom. The tropical rain shower was the thing one longed for after a long day hikes and walks in the area. The hotel served breakfasts at extra charge if required. There was a petrol station nearby and Joker supermarket, where one could buy some groceries up to the liking, and the shop outlet serving tasty hotdogs. We were really pleased with the stay and very welcoming staff of the hotel. By the way, Gudvangen is a nice starting point to get reach to the beginning of Rimstigen hike, there one can enjoy an incredible view over the fjord. We sincerely recommend to stay exactly at that premises and express our sheer gratitude to the personnel.

I liked Gudvangen in general… way more than Flåm. I was a bit worried about sharing a bathroom (I am no longer young), but it was not a problem at all. The hotel is greatly located, it is spotlessly clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful. All in all, a very pleasant experience.

The room was a bit too hot and windows could not be opened to provide some breeze.

Gudvangen is an absolutely stunning place! It's a very small village, so all the amenities exist close by. We did a full day kayaking trip and the location couldn't have been better to be able to comfortably take part in it. The room we had at the hotel was very spacious and had the biggest shower of any place we stayed in Denmark, Sweden and Norway. The window overlooked the fjord!

The bed could have been a bit comfier, but everything was clean and amenable.

They told us our room was switched/upgraded to a room at their other location just a short walk away, in some apartment style rooms. But the Budget Hotel lobby was so nice, elegant looking, she said it was the original hotel there. The apartment hotel room we received was great!! Had a kitchenette, bathroom, roomy room, with porch. Perfect stay, loved it all.

Poor signage to help u know where to go to check in. Soft matress. No personal bathroom. Non matching lamps felt cheap maybee I could of bought some for them from glass olsen instead of buyijng a beer. Was super clean and ok for one night.

We loved having the window open at night and hearing the river outside. The building itself is atmospheric (hopelessly out-of-tune piano, map with the USSR). There were two showers and two toilets, which I worried would not be enough given that the place seemed full, but there was never a wait. The showers are nicely renovated, hot and great water pressure. There was a common fridge in the hallway. The front desk staff were happy to arrange to store our luggage for 3 days.

The check-in location at the Fjordtell office could have been better communicated in the pre-arrival message. A pot of real coffee in the downstairs common-area might have made the experience more convivial. The breakfast buffet at the Fjordtell is good but expensive.

Awesome place overall, clean, secure, quiet, beautiful views, clean/available shared shower and toilets, private sink in room to brush teeth, shared fridge and microwave.

Bed was super soft, we sunk way in, bit too squishy for my comfort. But if you like a very soft/saggy bed then you’ll be great :)
