Beautiful views and outdoor facilities. Quite good soundproofing in the bedroom. We didn't hear neighbor's barking dog or bass'y party in a house in front of our room. Outdoor pool is up to like 1,7m deep which is quite unique for a hotel. It's worth spending a few day's here but maybe not a whole week as we did.

Location - forget about moving from/to the hotel by foot. You have to basically hike uphill and part of the way is a road with no sidewalk, so you have to maneuver between cars passing you really close. There are no shops or restaurants near the hotel, so you need to travel by car/taxi to Funchal center. During the week, the breakfast had mostly the same products everyday. We were extremely bored with it at the end of our stay. Bathrooms are not soundproof, but sounds like music were not reaching out of it to the bedroom.

The hotel is set up on the hill with fabulous views over Funchal. We had a very comfortable room with enormous bed and balcony. There is a cold and warm swimming pool and jacuzzi which are well maintained and which we enjoyed using during our three day stay. The breakfasts were wonderful with a huge variety of choices, served in a lovely dining room with terrace and views. The staff were very attentive and helpful. As a family of six we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return.

I had a great stay. The food was delicious, the staff were friendly and helpful, the view was amazing, and the gardens were beautiful. I would definitely recommend this place.

I was disappointed a bit that I had to pay extra for the sauna, which is the first time I’ve experienced this in a five-star hotel. They also advertise the pool, but it’s not heated, so it’s essentially unusable if the weather is cold. Overall, it doesn’t feel very generous, and I think they could step it up a bit to stay competitive. Still, it was a very nice experience!

Lovely hotel , set apart from the main strip of hotels, with fabulous views of the city. Spacious public areas with tasteful furniture and features. Friendly and helpful staff. Good choice of breakfast foods to choose from in the morning. Comfortable bed

Hotel stated their indoor swimming pool was heated. it wasn’t.

Breakfast was very delicious. We could order some warm meal from menu - it was very comfortable solution - I definitely recommend this options. During our stay at this hotel, there were some renovate works. We were hearing a noise from renovation so loud that we couldn't hear each other. For answer to our remark, we got bonus for the next stay. It was nice solution, but I would prefer to had quite during my holiday. Location of hotel was very comfortable. Every evening we went out. In addition, my opinion about hotel is positive. It was nice hotel. Meals in restaurant was good enough but for these prices I definitely recommend to eat at good restaurant at the city.

Noise from renovate work. Jacuzzi looks like was a dirty.

Great hotel. Facilities are excellent. We had a lovely large room with sitting room attached. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Parking for our hire car was easy and straightforward. We did travel at a low season time and this meant the hotel was not busy and it felt really easy and relaxing.

The food offer for breakfast is good. The dinner menu is disappointing. For an island state with huge range of seafood available we found the typical western style dinner menu offering very poor. We ate their only once and preferred to experience the range of authentic cuisines available at restaurants around the island.

It’s wonderful and even better than we expected. The room is big, we stayed in delux, it was a beautiful room with a gorgeous panorama of the whole Funchal. The birds are singing all the time, and it’s silent. I was doing my yoga with the sunrise and it was unforgettable pleasure. The staff is friendly and helpful. Attentive and always ready to provide. Housekeeping was great during first days and then suddenly they started to forget to put new towels, though didn’t forget to take the used ones. But if you put “clean up” sign, they will clean your room properly. We were always satisfied about housekeeping in general, we don’t really like our staff to be touched and moved. Also I’m very grateful to them for arranging a wonderful surprise for us as for our anniversary. Guest experience manager did great job! (I used to work on this position, so I highly appreciate his attention!) They are very attentive to details. If you left “don’t disturb” for all day, they will politely try to figure out when it’s better to come to clean up, if you want. At the end of the stay they will send a letter with gratitude for choosing them and will offer a gift. Those little things matter and not many hotels (non brand) care of such things! Breakfast was great. We eventually stayed in another hotel on our last day because our flight was cancelled, and oh my god, it was 5* too, but food was disgusting, team was rude and unwelcoming. After Funchal Gardens our expectations will always be high. I will definitely recommend this place to anyone asking “where to stay in Madeira”! Thank you for the wonderful holiday!

Takes ~15-20 min to go down from the hotel to the old town of Funchal. Going back by feet was never an option for us because we rented motorbike for all the days and on the last day came back to the hotel by taxi because, yes, you should go up the hill all the time. All the time!!! We are young and fit and we preferred not to :D Madeira is about mountains and hills. Consider that and be ready for a little excessive if you choose staying here.

The stunning views to the city, mountains and see from the restaurant terrace. Spacious room. Good variety of products at breakfast including some local specialities. Nice garden Well equipped gym

They promise heated indoor pool but the water is cold! When we asked about the pool in the reception we got two different answers- one that its under maintenance and the other one that the pool is ‘climatized’….anyways this is big disappointment! The location of the hotel makes it a bit challenging to reach by foot. The short way from the center includes partially way without sidewalks. However there is a bit longer way you can choose. There are no shops or restaurants nearby.

It was like dropping into a paradise we had never even dared to dream of existing. The nature, the silence, the air, the rooms, the hospitality, the beautiful garden, the cleanness (all over the island). And the incredibly kind, respectful and helpful crew. This hotel joined a larger hotel chain last year and the commitment of the employees to create an environment of humanity, feeling of home and safety is clear. So far we have not thought of returning to any of the places, we always like to try new places. But this is different. This place has become our home. Thank you Laura and everyone else!

That we didn't have the time to stay more days, weeks or months. Truly I began to think what kind of work do I have to apply there to work with them. Truly a strange but amazing feeling, you shouldn't go, because you maybe never want to go back to your everyday life. :)

The friendly staff, the breakfast buffet with absolutely amazing views, the huge & comfy bed, the peaceful & quiet atmosphere, the jacuzzi & the gym which was really quite decent for hotel standards.

The location is not perfect as it's quite a walk uphill to return to the hotel from town, and the street where the hotel is located has no pavement on either side which can make walking a bit nerve-wracking especially with buses, motorcycles and cars in general, driving way above the speed limit regularly even when making turns. As it's not a new hotel building, there are few plug sockets and they're not distributed optimally throughout the room, which is just a big pet peeve of mine. Still a solid 9/10, IMO.
