The location is absolutely outstanding! With a beautiful pool and a great beach. Both have a restaurant/Cafe bar we found very convenient. The grounds are well maintained with beautiful shrubs and flowers. Working elevators. Apartment size was good 2 bathrooms with good showers. Great private terrace. Grocery store within 10 min walk. Very easy walk into the town square. Fantastic to be able to walk into town for coffee or dinner. The property manager was really great and responds quickly.

The beds must be replaced, New pillows both are seriously required. The bed was awful! Ceiling fans in the bedrooms would be nice. Only 2 English channels both news.

Apartment is very close to the castle (Sao Jorge). Some great restaurants/bars within walking distance. One needs a code to get into the building. The apartment was on the 3rd floor and the keys were in a lock box so one needed another code. So two codes needed. Apartment has everything needed and very clean. Lots of beds. Some are bunk beds. Great views. Will have to manage the steps to the 3rd floor. Hosts were very helpful when I called as I had an issue with the door codes but they sorted that out quickly. If you follow the instructions and get off the metro at the Baixa-Chiado station, make sure you find the outdoor escalators, as you're heading uphill toward the castle and there's a LOT of steps! So don't be pulling a suitcase. Have your bag on your back!! May be easier to get a taxi there although a taxi can only go so far so there'll be some walking involved on the cobblestones!

Hosts did not mention that two codes were needed. Incorrect code was provided so had to call to get the correct codes. Ensure that the correct codes (two codes - first for access to building and second for lock box on apartment are provided).

The apartment was well located. You can go to a lot of places by feet like the castle, the « arco da rua augusta », and a lot of view points because it’s really high in the city. We also enjoyed having a terrace where you will have sun during the morning until approximately noon (in January). We also had a good communication with Paula, the host. I highly recommend this place for a family or a group of friends.

It is located next to a school so if you want to wake up late you will have to deal with children and school noises.

Excellent communication throughout from the hosts - on the day and prior/during our stay. Good facilities and good size of apartment.

My father struggled with the location - lots of walking on steep cobbled steps and roads not helped with transport being very limited to the apartment in the castle area. Upon reflection, it would have been better for us, as a group, to be based in accommodation lower down the hill. The bathroom, toilet and shower were a little on the small side but ok.

Well situated with very good and not too expensive restaurants nearby. Asked for recommendations and was very well served.

Very hard to get up the stairs. No specific directions to pay the tax. I thought there would be someone to pay it to on arrival but there wasn’t. Then I got a text saying they had come by to get it but it wasn’t there. No clear instructions on where I was to leave it. When I asked they said “in the box”. What box? Finally found out but it would have been better to indicate upfront. The peacocks scream all night so don’t expect to sleep much. It has its positives but not worth the expensive price for lack of sleep.

It is a historic building, and the area is great, you can move through the city in any direction from the castle

Pretty well everything. The single beds are a bit narrow, but comfortable. And the bathroom could use two hooks for towels but otherwise It was great. The stairs are narrow and steep and tricky to get up with a suitcase, we managed but they are probably not great for anyone over 75 years of âge(with suitcase)

The location, right next to the castle, was perfect! The VIEW from the window, absolutely sublime !!! (The photos of the room don't do it justice, you should add pictures of the view from the window because it is so beautiful! :) ) Just these two things made it 100% worth it! The lady who greeted us was very friendly and helpful. The apartment was clean.

The two double beds (sofa beds) were really not comfortable with a hard bar going through the middle. The two single beds in the other room were fine! :) The bathroom was reeeeeally small for 6 people, but it's not the end of the world.

The location is perfect, in the core of the old city centre. Also, the premises are in an old authentic building and even though they are small, one has everything needed. Rooms are cold and fresh due to thick old walls made of stones :) The Castle of St. George is fantastic, with several panoramic viewpoints...small parks, many coffee shops, restaurants, gift shops... No traffic except for vehicles with permission... All in all, great!

The only small drawbacks are stairs within the building. They are fine, but not easy to use and safe for older people and potentially for tall people, e.g. over 1.80cm... One should be careful with narrow footsteps.

The best of the apartment was Luis who welcomed us really nicely, and made the whole introduccion to the city easier. The apartment was nice, clean and had everything we asked for. We had the apartment with the terrace for seven and it was a lovely stay.

There are just a couple of things that were a bit of. First of all the soap on the bathroom smelled really bad and was unusable. Apart from that the, single bed/sofa is also trully uncomfortable, so keep in mind if you are 7 using the apartment, someone will not sleep very well.

The apartment was a two minute walk from the Costelo Sao Jao. If you like to walk and hike, this is the perfect place. It's at the top of the hill, inside the outside walls of the Costelo. We love to walk and hike up the hill from the Alfama area is a 15 minute all up hill walk through a maze of alleyways and narrow streets (which we loved). But if you have small kids, they are going to struggle. The kitchen is well equipped with an awesome coffee maker! Hot showers! We'd stay here again.

We had the 4th floor 3 bedroom flat, which has great lighting but not much of a view. The views are of the walls to the buildings next door or the school across the street. It is nice to have those views though, just not the views overlooking the courtyard with the river or city in the back ground. The bathroom is really tiny. The shower drain is clogged, super, super slow drain. The shower is also small. If you are a big person, you'll be hitting the water knob constantly changing the water temperature.
