We stayed in the penthouse suite with the terrace over looking Lisbon. A million dollar view. Wonderful waking up to this view, sitting on the terrace with a coffee, returning & relaxing on an afternoon after sight seeing & then again on an evening. It is worth the little bit extra paid. But be warned it’s up 5 flights of stairs, however the hotel do take your luggage up & down. Francois & Rio couldn’t have been more helpful. The food in the hotel is really good especially the sardine bruschetta & octopus salad. We appreciated the complimentary fruit & port in the room. Location is perfect, 2 minutes from the castle, 10 minutes to the Se & to Alfama district. A tip is to book the hotel transportation to & from the airport much cheaper than a local taxi.

Takes a while for the hot water to heat up, but everything else was great.

The open breakfast patio is overlooking one of the most spectacular views of Lisbon, the Tagus River, the 25 de Abril Bridge, the Cristo Rei, and so many other famous monuments. The breakfast each morning was fresh, delicious and reasonably priced. Our room, the duplex, had a living area and a loft suite, all with panoramic views of the city and overlooking the historic Alfama area. Staying in luxurious comfort in the oldest and highest part of the city, steps away from the Sao Jorge Castle. Was super accessible to the downtown Lisbon area by foot in 10-20 minutes.

Nothing! Even for us the steps were very doable. Imagine stepping into the medieval ages with cobblestones, tile, and granite walls and a historic castle right outside your front step.

The attentive and thoughtful service from the staff here was probably the best I have ever experienced in a hotel. It's a lovely and well maintained property. The location was perfect for our two days in Lisbon -- it gave us lots of opportunities to explore Alfama, while still having easy access to Baixa/Chiado. We enjoyed breakfasts on the terrace with the view of the river, and also a spectacular view from our room. The air conditioning in the room also made a big difference to our comfort because we visited during a heat wave. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others and hope to visit again in the future.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful hotel, and I can’t say enough good things about the experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff (in particular Rio and Francois) couldn’t have been more attentive and obliging. Every request was met with a warm smile and a can-do attitude, making us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for throughout our stay. The level of service was nothing short of exceptional - thoughtful, personalised and consistently professional. Whether it was the front desk, housekeeping or the dining staff, everyone went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable and happy. Beyond the incredible service, the overall atmosphere of the hotel was fantastic. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable with a fabulous view. We enjoyed a truly fantastic experience and would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a seamless and memorable stay.

The staff at this hotel made you feel like you've returned to family. It's a smaller hotel and everyone knew our names, room number, preferences, etc. by the end of our stay. Absolutely impeccable service. Rooms are also large -- feel like European flats with their modern styling and spaciousness. Very clean, centrally located and fabulous food at the restaurant and on the patio deck (which had a wonderful view of the city). Couldn't be happier with this hotel.

Only consideration is that this hotel is a renovated historic building and does not have an elevator. Staff were incredible lugging luggage up and down the stairs, but for anyone with mobility challenges, it would be difficult to navigate.

Staff is very friendly, rooms are quite nice. The hotel is not that big and located at a nice spot. It has two restaurants/bars: one of the hotel itself and another one that I believe rents their floor. It's a quiet place: most of the noise comes from cleaning the streets and suppliers in the morning. There is a popular bakery next door. Largo Sta. Luzia - one of the most popular spots for pictures - is 3 mins walk.

The one thing that continues to strike me in PT - and I have been in Lisbon many times for work as well, next to leisure - is the paperwork. The city tax needs to paid in cash, you don't get an invoice. If you ask for the invoice, it takes quite some time and the one we got was incorrect and unclear. But all in all a nice and friendly place.

Solar dos Mouros is wonderfully located near São Jorge Castle, with convenient parking nearby. The hotel is commercial but welcoming, and we appreciated the drink on arrival. The room was huge, luxurious, and beautiful, with panoramic views. It included a bath and shower (though the shower tap didn’t work well) and a very large bed—about twice the size of a standard double. There was also fruit and Porto wine in the room, and a small fridge.

There is no elevator. The room was very hot on arrival, and it would have been nice if the AC had been turned on beforehand; the fruit and Porto wine were also very warm.

Rio and Francois were welcoming, friendly and really informative about the best routes and things to see while in Lisbon. Exactly the sort of local specialists we were hoping for when we booked and nothing was a trouble to them. The room was light, airy and comfortable, with an excellent shower. We went for a room with a Tagus view, and were delighted with the view across the city and over the river, including a spectacular sunset. The breakfast was delicious, with plenty of choice each day and a great view from the balcony space each morning. The restaurant was also excellent, and a very convenient option on arrival. The location was great for exploring historic Lisbon - a stone's throw from the castle, and easy connections to the Metro, buses, trams or just walking around. Would strongly recommend to others, especially couples.

This was a wonderful place. When I drive into Lisbon, feeling harried and frazzled by the traffic and drivers, Bruno at the front desk told me to relax and enjoy a welcoming drink before getting settled in. Much needed. During our stay of several days, the staff of Rio and Francois did everything in their power to make our residence special, from dinner recommendations and reservations, to travel tips, to comforts in the room. I cannot speak highly enough about the staff and comfort. We had a luxurious room with a splendid view. Breakfast was always special as well.
