We were staying for 10 days and even if the hotel looks a little bit outdatet it is really clean and homey, the room was located on the second floor and we also had a balcony with an amaizing view on the ocean and the mountains. You can also see the planes landing and taking off witch for me was awesome. The staff are realy hospitable and nice, they help you with all requests if at all possible and are realy friendly. If you want to plan your activities they will gladly help you at the reception with any reservations. We took the all inclusive package and had a very delicious breakfast every morning with a lot of choices, the lunch we skipped a couple of times but when we went it was also very good but the dinner was for my taste fantastic almost every evening with a lot of different choices from meat and fish to side dishes and salads, but the best part was the desserts table which always had a lot of different desserts and also lots of fruit and always at least 2 choiches of cheese platers. The restaurant staff are also realy friendly and attentive. Also in the package are a lot of drinks such as soft drinks or alcoholic beverages and even if not all cocktails are included you surr can find something to your taste. So all in all i was really pleased with our stay at Dom Pedro Madeira

The location and view were fantastic. You can’t get closer to the sea and the sunrise is spectacular. The pool is big and there were always sunloungers available. There was a lot of choice at breakfast which we enjoyed. The promenade and pier of 1200m is perfect for a walk or run. It is a short walk to the pebble beach and walking a bit further was the white sand beach. There are a lot of different good restaurants within walking distance and some great hikes a short drive away. We did not have dinner at the hotel so can’t rate that.

The hotel is very clean but in need of renovations.

Location: ideal for scenery, stunning view of the bay of Machico and mountains. Only 10 minutes taxi from the international airport. Many cafés and restaurants in the village. Excellent facilities at the hotel for games and swimming pool. Very helpful and friendly staff. Reception open 24 hours, excellent for our late check-in at 11pm and early check-out at 5am.

Internal signage could be improved to direct to the exit on 1st floor to swimming pool and to advise at the stairs/lifts that games room is on 1st Floor, Restaurant in 2nd Floor. Bar on 3rd Floor and Reception on the mezzanine RC between 3rd and 4th floors.

I chose this hotel as a late summer holiday for my wife in return for her many kindnesses, and it was an inspired choice. Especially because I paid extra for a low floor room with a balcony and the all-inclusive option. The sea view balcony was a joy throughout each day. Be aware that every meal is a help yourself buffet (the staff bring drinks) but this was perfect for us because the buffet choice is quite amazing, and you can select exactly what you fancy for each course, and go back as often as you like. And the ambience and views from the restaurant are stunning. Plus the hotel staff are so pleasing, with that superb balance of friendliness and professsionalism. The swimming pool is gorgeous and there are plenty of other activities to pursue if you feel energetic. The hotel is in a nice sleepy town called Machico but the island capital (Funchal) is an easy bus ride (2.60 euros each way). We debated hiring a car for a day (from about 40 euros) which was so tempting because the hotel would sort it all out, and have the car delivered/returned from the hotel. But in the end, another day relaxing by the pool was irresistable as the weather during our stay was absolutely perfect. We will definitely return.

Two single beds pushed together is not always ideal for a couple but we just laughed and made the best of it. Everything else was lovely.

Excellent hotel where you are made to feel welcome from the start. There are good choices for breakfast, with both hot and cold options. The breakfast room is always busy at later times, but there are never any queues. The hotel is large, clean, and well-designed. We had a club room with a view of Machico Bay. There were no mosquitos in mid-July, so we slept with the balcony door open and woke up to the sound of ocean waves in the morning. Machico itself is a beautiful bay surrounded by green mountains. We stayed during the street food festival in Machico, which we were not aware of beforehand, but it had an excellent vibe. I have to say it was quite loud at night, but we were so tired from hiking every day that we went to sleep at 10-11 pm, despite the music and noise, with no problem. I would say the location is not ideal for young families as there is maybe not much to do for little kids apart from the beach, but is perfect for hiking enthusiasts (both young and old), as there are many trails in the vicinity. It’s easy to get to other places, and the hotel is just 5 minutes by taxi from the airport (10 euros).

The hotel is located near the surf beach The view from the room is amazing if you are lucky to get one of the seaside rooms Staff was friendly and helpful The room and the tolet were clean and also they were cleaned every day

Dampness in the room's ceiling, this is completely innaceptable Non-existent room sound insulation, you will count the waves or the people passing the corridor instead of slipping For a 4 star hotel the room and the bed were small (like in a prison cell) no facilities like freezer, coffee/tea machine or hair dryer available Room's furniture should be upgraded as it looks quite old

good location - beachfront hotel i small town with restaurants, groceries, shops, bus stop .... in walking distance. only few minutes away from airport traveling by car cozy clean room with ocean view very nice staff - always smiling and ready to help food - breakfast and dinner with wide selection (approx 3 main dishes/side dishes, fresh vegetable and fruits, salads, good coffee, fruit juice, fresh pastry/bakery) we did not have a problem to pick swimming pool

small parking lot - this is only kind warning - the parking lot in hotel directly has about 5-6 spaces, but there are plenty other parking spots next or very close to hotel, reception staff was helpfull and suggested us few options, so in the end - no problem at all furniture and premises are here and there little older and used, but everything was working and clean, so it did not really matter

The hotel was very clean and all the Staff were very friendly, nothing was too much of a problem. The location to local amenities was fine, plenty of place to eat and drink, also public transport was excellent to go further afield.

If you wanted, like us, a nice quiet chilled holiday, the pool area is a no go . As we found out, it was an all inclusive venue and the constant loud music and the continuous fun and games throughout the day became unbearable for us, but the local beach was great with really easy access to the sea for a dip. We used that instead.

Check in was straightforward and smooth. It is evident they have completed some updates/reservations to the inside of the building that really make it beautiful and organized. Do not let the look of the building from the outside concern you. The setup of the property is unique and there are many features onsite, including an outdoor pool, restaurant, piano lounge, games area, ect. Our room was a great size and had a beautiful view of the beach where we watched surfers for hours. The bed linens were very clean and the beds were super comfortable. The best part of the room was the large window, which could me swung open completely for airflow and an unobstructed view of the beach. The breakfast in the morning included in our stay was far more than we expected for the cost of the room. The re was a large buffet including yogurt, fruit, toast, pastries, eggs, beans, sausage, juice, and hot drinks. The buffet area also overlooked the sunrise and the beach.

Overall the stay was great. only concern was the water pressure in the shower was actually almost too hard. Standing close to the faucet hurt and it sprayed so forcefully that quite a bit of water leaked out past the curtain onto the surrounding floor. Additionally, the drying rack is within the shower which made entering from that side very difficult. Very small things overall though for such a great spot.

Good choice at breakfast but could do with an omelette station. Room was a decent size and comfortable. Bathroom was fine with plenty of instant hot water. The mountain view was ok with a limited view of the sea as well. Close proximity of the beach, promenade and restaurants. Short transit time from the airport.

The music around the pool. I find it irritating as it breaks my concentration when reading. If people want to hear music let them listen through earphones. Limited on-site parking although there was a free car park a couple of minutes walk from the hotel.
