A haven of peace and cool in a warm and lively Porto. A perfect break for my 65th birthday. The room was spacious and, despite opening onto the communal terrace, felt private. The garden terrace with it's fountain was a lovely spot to sit in the evening and both the higher terrace and the beautiful gardens give stunning views over the river to Vila Nova de Gaia. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. Our late check in went smoothly - key code provided the day bfore travel and a detailed map of our room location left at reception - so please if you have a late flight, don't worry, all will be fine! Thank you to Emilio for explaining everything on our first morning and a special thank you to Kalif for his help and kindness through our stay. We will return. We walked everywhere - 50,000 steps in 3 days. Quick tip - if you are returning from the riverfront, take the turning alongside Casa Mara restaurant (do Mont dos Judeus) - there are escalators!

Nothing.

We loved everything about this hotel! This place is a hidden gem in amongst the little streets surrounding it - the gardens are beautifully tended to, and the view across the Douro is stunning. The staff, Kalif and Emilio and Consuela, are so friendly and go above and beyond to ensure your stay is an exceptional experience. Breakfast is delicious - fresh juices every day, pastries and fruit, eggs made on demand, gluten free diet catered for. Lovely selection of cheese and ham. And all served with a smile in the beautiful surroundings of the orangerie and garden!

We just loved our stay at Casa Camelia. We found it a bit tricky to get to on the first day. There are abbey doors immediately beside the entrance, so if you see them, you have arrived! A skinny road continues down from there. Interaction with the front desk was exemplary. The room (Hortensia) was spacious, beautifully decorated, and had an eating area leading out to the garden. The bed was extremely comfortable. Everything was immaculate, including the comfortable bathroom with an excellent shower. We appreciated the personal note and fresh flowers upon arrival. We sat in the garden and drank wine amidst the lovely fountain, flowers, and pathways leading to a spectacular view of Porto. We made friends with the local cat who loved to pose for the camera while he/she nimbly walked along the walls abutting the precipice. The views and this garden are absolutely breathtaking. We found a grocery store not too far away, as well as a good laundromat. We wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else when we return to Porto!

Minimal closet space, but this is a minor complaint given that this is an old manor house.

Frankly, we wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Porto! The view, the grounds, the staff and the value was truly exceptional. The attention to detail was above and beyond. The staff knew it was my birthday and had a beautiful flower and note when we arrived. Although a tad pricey, I would definitely recommend enjoying the breakfast at least once. My partner and I are walkers so we didn’t mind the location. It takes about ten minutes to get to the river area down a steep hill/stairs and ten minutes up the hill to the other part of town where the station is. We liked being away from the hustle and bustle, especially with the extraordinary view we had. If you don’t mind walking stay at Casa Camelia! Amazing.

Breakfast a little pricey. There is a beautiful terrace with a wonderful view, not sure why it’s not offered to have breakfast there.

Everything about Casa Camelia! The staff were so welcoming, friendly, attentive and couldn't do more to make us felt looked after. Our room, Peonia - was so beautiful and right on the garden with beautiful views. Super comfy bed, beautiful place to spend our last 3 nights in Portugal. It's a steep position, so be prepared for big walking when you enter or leave the property but it makes the views superb. We will be back! Thank you

If only the room had a coffee machine or even the facility to brew (a mocha?) or sachets of coffee - given there are plenty of tea options, this would have made the stay better.

Beautiful room matched with the most amazing view. We could see the city and the river from our room, as well as during breakfast where we could choose to sit at various locations around the property. Breakfast was delicious and the handover between staff was terrific, and really helped us in our early morning checkout.

Nothing much really, this was a superb stay. Just a note that if you are driving and with heavy luggage, the roads in and out of the property are extremely steep and narrow.

What a beautiful place, the owner renovated recently and he did a fantastic job. Our hotel was the highlight our trip, we spent a lot of time enjoying the view from our room and the hotel gardens. The staff is also super kind! They made us feel VIP when we checked in super late in the evening, with welcome notes, baby bed/toy set up, and flowers in our room. What a lovely place! Can’t say enough. We went with a 4 year old and having the gardens of the hotel to run around and play was perfect.

Breakfast: food was excellent and the location in a beautiful spot. The small number of rooms in the hotel is for me a win. The room was very tastefully furnished. The competence and politeness of the staff was stellar. One told me that the owner lives on site. That cannot be other than a big plus.

The bed was too soft for me. Then again, I sleep on the floor at home, no kidding. I bet it would be comfortable for most people.

The villa is gorgeously renovated and has a dreamy garden, with a view of the Douro. The room was exceptionally clean, comfortable and quiet. We are both light sleepers and sensitive to smells, and we didn't have any complaints. The bed was very comfy. The bathroom was well stocked. The breakfast was good and we enjoyed it in the garden. The staff was very kind and helpful - thank you! If you need parking, be sure to talk to the staff beforehand, as this could be an issue, as everywhere in Porto

One of the best places we stayed at on our trip! This hotel is worth every cent. We arrived late at night and they organised an easy check in for us with all the information we needed. They had a welcome sign on our door and a little bunch of flowers for us. The room is very specious and very clean, lovely and modern. Even has floor heating ! The reception is very helpful, they organised an early breakfast for us so we could go make a tour that day. Highly recommend this place!!

Nothing.
