We really enjoyed our 7 day stay at the lovely Castelo Santa Catarina! We were in the room on top of the building from where we had a 360 degree view, could see the sun come up and go down and on clear days could see the ocean in the distance. Everything in the old part of the Castelo looks like a folklore museum or a hundreds of years old castle but at the same time with the comfort of a renovated bathroom and modern heating. Absolutely loved it. There’s no elevator inside the building (only to get from parking to reception) but we were offered that they carried our luggage to the 4th floor. There was an issue with our toilet but they immediately sent a technician. Generally, they are taking very good care of the building, daily housekeeping is excellent and all staff is very nice. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Even though the hotel was mostly booked out we found parking the 3 times we used the car. Definitely a unique place to stay! Recommended!

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The couple of restaurants recommended by staff that we went to were great. Thoughtful touches like leaving umbrellas outside the rooms on rainy days exemplified the overall attention to details and guest comfort. They also kindly accommodated an early check-in which was greatly appreciated after a red-eye flight. Our arrival was very easy by public transit from the airport and a quick 5-minute walk from the station closest to the hotel. We were also happily surprised to receive a room upgrade. We stayed in the newer addition overlooking the gardens. The room was very spacious, clean, and comfortable. The delicious breakfast was enjoyed in the charming historic castelo building. We didn't have a chance to visit the bar and the weather was a bit too cool to enjoy sitting in the garden for an afternoon drink but both looked pleasant.
Some areas of the gardens were being renovated but the work was well scheduled to be minimally intrusive. I think it was reasonable given the off-season discounted rate we paid and it did not overly impact our enjoyment at the Castelo.

The building itself is stunning! The decor throughout and its condition is testament to the staff who maintain the building. Also, we were fortunate enough to have room 133 which had a huge balcony overlooking Porto which was a nice touch. The room itself was very quiet and cool, and had double doors with shutters were helped reduce the heat and noise. The in room facilities- kettle, fridge, AC, TV - were all in excellent useable condition. Staff members particularly Jorges, were always polite and helpful making our stay even more comfortable.
Well, this is a double edge sword. The location is a little far out of central Porto which is a Bolt ride or 15min hill walk, but this helps keep the location quiet so not a big issue for us. The building itself does not have an elevator which wasn’t a problem for us, but if you have mobility issues or unfit then you may struggle especially with luggage.

What a fantastic hotel! From the road you cannot possibly imagine what lies beyond its gates. there are several gardens, a bar as well as other facilities. The main attraction was the Tower itself, spectacular!!! The staff were so helpful and friendly, they were a delight. It's not too far ro walk down to the city centre from where you can visit many interesting places. The hotel room we stayed in was the Grande Suite in the Castle Tower, it had a balcony and terrace of a fantastic size with great views. The buffet breakfast was delightful and we discovered the on-site bar not offers a 'happy hour' between 5pm and 7pm where we experienced our first Port & Tonic cocktail which was a revelation, but also hot food upto 10pm.
The Castle Tower has no lift, so you will need to carry your luggage up to your room although the staff will do this if requested.

Incredible place! You get the unique experience of staying in a real castle right in the heart of Porto. While it's a bit further from downtown compared to other hotels, it’s totally worth it. It only takes around 10-15 minutes to reach the city center, so the location is still very convenient. The castle itself is stunning—antique yet well-maintained, without the musty smell that you often find in older hotels. The upper-floor rooms offer breathtaking views of the city. The staff were extremely professional and provided tons of great advice on what to see in Porto. This hotel contributed a great portion to the amazing mood and experience of exploring Porto. One of the best stays I’ve had!

This an absolutely exceptional property. Styled as an old castel in 100%. Which comes with a certain limitations, e.g. no elevator in the main building, which didn't really bother us at all. A decent breakfast in a stunning dining room, very kind and helpful staff, location 5 min walking from the metro station, lovely local restaurants close by. City center is in the walkable distance, downhill. This also means this is uphill going back but all those hills are hard to escape from in Porto. Nice bar open in the evenings and the private garden help to escape from the touristic crowd.

We were fortunate to get the best room in the hotel with a large terrace, which was very important to my wife. The terrace overlooks the city and includes table/chairs and lounge seats. The gardens are beautiful on the property and make for excellent photos. The breakfast was very good with great service. We had some laundry done on the property and the results were excellent with everything ironed and folded professionally. Management also treated my wife and I to some bottle of Port as it was our anniversary. There is parking on the property. There is also very good security to enter exist the property. We felt very safe as the hotel is in the tourist area with lots of shopping and places to go.
There was nothing we did not like about the villa.

Everything was splendid, except the weather. But we couldn't blame the hotel for that... The garden is a lovely place in good weather and the hotel building is something of its own. Don't forget to study the fantastic parquet floors and the decorations! Small but sufficient room (in the tower), very good beds, good breakfast and no noise.
The location is a little bit off, 15-20 min walk from the city center. The metro is however close and buses from outside the hotel take you half way down-town. The nearby surroundings a bit disheartening with many deserted and decaying buildings.

Beautiful property. Staff was great! They were truly amazing, friendly, accommodating & helpful! They communicated with me before the stay & once when I had a question after the stay. Beautiful breakfast room & the sweetest lady ever preparing the food & helping guests. She brought out cake for my friend's 70th birthday & had the birthday song playing in English. The tapas in the bar were above & beyond! We were "over the moon" when Nicole brought out the beautiful Portugese board-- so good!
Wish there had been an elevator to the room we stayed in on our 2nd night. We liked everything else.

Very nice building with history. The decration was great and gave a feel of living in a small castle. The staffs were very accommodating and friendly. The location was not the best but not far from the main places and old town area. Overall a great experience staying here and definitely recommendable.
The room allocated to was a bit small, but thats how this small castle was built where there were some smaller rooms for the guests in the past.
