Marques Garden House is set in a historic building that carries real character and charm. The courtyard is a gem – perfect for yoga, a drink, or simply relaxing by the pool (even while waiting for check-in or a taxi to the airport). The location is ideal: far enough from the crowded center to let you rest, yet close enough (about a 30-minute walk) to discover plenty along the way. The staff are kind and attentive, and breakfast feels homemade – like being welcomed into someone’s home. If you want authenticity, comfort, and a peaceful atmosphere while still being connected to Porto’s energy, this is an excellent choice.

The people at the hotel are fabulous. Helpful and really friendly. They made our stay a pleasure. The location is really good. On a nice square outside the town centre but only steps from a metro station that goes through the old town and over the river to VillaNova. The metro leaves every few minutes and costs only e1.40 a trip.

Just a couple of things to be aware of. Furstly there's no lift and so you should be capable of carrying your luggage up a staircase or possibly two. The second thing is that at the moment it is two adjacent buildings and so you may have to go in and out to get to breakfast , the pool or reception. Neither thing affected our stay and we'd happily book again but useful to know if you are thinking of booking.

We loved the place, the rooms are spacious, comfortable. Even though the hotel isn’t located right in the city centre, the excellent public transport links mean you can easily and quickly get anywhere you want. The garden and pool are a real treat, almost like a secret garden where you can truly relax after exploring the beautiful city of Porto. The staff are very friendly and helpful, explaining everything clearly and assisting in finding anything you might need.

The only minor drawback is that the doors are not very well soundproofed, so we were occasionally woken by our neighbours, but that’s just a small detail in what was otherwise a wonderful stay.

Everything was as promised. They held our luggage until check-in. There were some great bakeries just up the street. The Marquez station was a minute’s walk from the hotel, and it was very convenient to get anywhere we wanted to go. The hotel offered a good breakfast and we spent hours relaxing by the pool enjoying the grounds. Despite the front of the property bustling, it was so peaceful and pristine out back. We had an attic room in the neighboring building, and it was beautiful. Everything was amazing. We highly recommend this property for a couple’s getaway!

We absolutely loved the Marques Garden House. The townhouse is beautiful and renovated in style. The garden and the pool are spacious and tranquil and great for relaxing in the afternoon. Our room (suite) was big and comfortable for family of 5. Nice fresh juices at breakfast. Lovely receptionist Julia went out of her way to help us w anything.

Breakfast could have had more options. Location is ok and close to the center/ subway but not a lovely neighborhood. Except for a lovely receptionist Julia it didnt seem staff cared too much for us.

Wow what a place! All the staff were amazing ... so polite, very helpful and accommodating, and generally happy people that offered a feeling of calm and professionalism. The building is stunning, stylish, immaculately clean and the room very well looked after during our stay. The garden was such a lovely bonus at the end of a day climbing the hills of porto! Proximity to public transport (both bus and metro) was such a bonus.

I didn't dislike anything, however, having decaf available at breakfast would be good with this already being available in the rooms, and some nice bistro seating in that fab garden would be brilliant. Neither of these things spoilt our stay mind. Would highly recommend to anyone!

We loved the low profile and old property look, the staff were so genuinely so nice , breakfast was really good , and just enough . The pool was really good and we were very lucky that it was quiet and we were able to really enjoyed , and having my 8 year old making all the noises he wanted ….

There was only one issue I found , I was 8 months pregnant and so couldn’t sleep well, in the morning , as our bedroom was the level Under the kitchen / breakfast room, there was this waitress with really heavy walking that woke me up most of the days, honestly , my husband has a heavy sleep and even he was awaken by it, It would be nice if there was a bit more consideration regarding this when it starts around 6 am

This hotel is a historical.authentic boutique hotel. All rooms are different, so you have to be careful while making reservation. We have received a room.ahich should have been changed, but the second one had met the description and our requirements as well. Breakfast is standard but nicely prepared and exposed in the bar. Orange just is really perfect. The living room is a very pleasant and cool place. I liked very much old panels, encrusted ceilings, staircase and also furniture in the leaving area.The staff is doing their best to meet the quests'needs, which is really aporeciated. I would come back,

Breakfast was nice. They were able to make eggs and bacon. Wish they had chips to snack on in the room . I really enjoyed the staff - Caroline, Thiais, Julia and Isabel. Building over 100 years old, but so clean and welcoming. The doors at times need some maintenance. Other than that I give a 10 excellent stay. I did not want to leave. Felt very warm and welcoming.

This is a very special and unusual property, with a wonderful ambience and understated elegance. The staff were so helpful and considerate and sought to be caring in all respects. Our room was quirky but spacious and well-appointed. The breakfast was well-presented with a reasonable array of choices to eat.

Having to climb 2 steep flights of stairs, and to lug one's cases to the room with no assistance, was a considerable challenge was somewhat annoying! Our room, whilst pleasant, had a bathroom door which would not close properly and the shower had only warm water at best, which was inexcusable and most unsatisfactory. Also, we had to leave our building to go next door for breakfast which was less than convenient or private.
