On arrival reception was efficient and friendly, parking underground was easy to find and safe than leaving the car on the road with trams going past during the day with people hanging onto the sides. Our room was clean and had all we needed, although we had booked a food trip in town on the second day at 6pm but by 3pm our room hadn’t been cleaned. Breakfast was very good with plenty of variety. It was a fair distance into the town centre but once we found out about the 500 bus we used that several times, good value at €2.50 each.

Our room was over the reception/dining room so every time someone came in the front door to the hotel we heard the bang as it closed. Also scraping chairs and tables from the dining room. The restaurant choices were very limited and food wasn’t very hot when it arrived.

Room was a decent size The staff were all very heloful and friendly Breakfast buffet had a good selection of fruit, breads, meats and cheeses and a warm, english style breakfast ( could have been warmer) Plus omelettes cooked to order

The bathroom arrangement I find very strange No actual bathroom, just an area with a hand basin in the room with WC and shower each with shower screen type doors all open to the room No privacy Also the location is further from the town centre than it appears in the description, 25 to 30 minutes walk, although it does mean it is quiet during the night, which we liked And there are buses and trams available if required Overall we enjoyed our stay

The breakfast was good with a variety of items to choose from. The room was comfortable, and as we asked for a paid upgrade, we had a view of the river. The staff were helpful and the bar and setting area for a small hotel were inviting.

Location was quiet but further from the centre than expected. The location was not what we expected.As the hotel as called Gala Porto Ribera we thought it would be more in the centre.That said it was a 2 minute walk to the tram so we sued this for travelling into and out of the city. Tea making facilitates in the room would have been a help as would an iron. We have never stayed in a hotel that did not have irons in the room. When we asked to use on we were told we could pay for a pressing service.

Location along the river was amazing. Away from the crowds, but close to the sites and had amazing views. The facility itself was lovely. Restaurant and bar on-site. Breakfast was consistently good each day. They also have a cute little gelato cart in the lobby which made for an excellent treat after a long day of walking the city. Highly recommend this hotel.

The toiletries they are offer is just a shampoo/body wash combination. This was similar to another hotel I stayed at in Portugal so may be the standard. I prefer better quality toiletries. Next time I will bring my own.

The location is great! Breakfast is really good and it is a lovely place to stay while in Porto.

How ever, I did not enjoy the brown carpeted floor in my room, why not opt for a wooden floor? THe decor tends to be a bit dated. I had a room facing the courtyard and the noice of a group of people woke me up and kept me awake until 03.30 am. Next time I will upgrade to a room with sea view!

That it is a cozy hotel with the luxury of a large hotel, friendly staff who worked very hard everywhere and all the time. Very nice view of the river

That it was clearly staffed at busy moments. Coffee could not be refilled fast enough, constantly had to wait for more prepared eggs because the cook had too many tasks at once, etc. The coffee was not very modern style. I would have appreciated a free bottle of water every night, it gets quite dry and I didn’t know if it was safe to drink water from the tap. If it is safe please mention it and provide a jar in the room next to the glasses then I can refill myself.

The river view was great. Having said that, you couldn't really sit and see out the window because it was so high. It's in a quieter area of town along the river. The room size, for Europe, was good. The staff was great. The rooms all seemed to be named after artists (mine was Paul Cezanne) and there was beautiful artwork on the walls. They also serve their own wines which is a nice touch.

I was mystified by the need to tell them when I would be coming for breakfast each day.

The location was good. Not directly in the center, but close enough. Nice hotel, good breakfast. Good price.

We like to have breakfast outside when it's good weather. It was possible, but difficult to do. ( the door was closed and it was farther away from the breakfast buffet)

Good lift and stairs. Good food, morning and evening. Immediate access to tram and bus if required - can walk extensively if fit.

TV service limited. One free water bottle over 4 nights. (Yes, people do abuse the system by discarding partly used bottles but a multi-night guest might deserve a second).

Excellent location for visiting friends , very good breakfast , comfortable bed and friendly staff.

We had booked a river view room and from the photos on the website were looking forward to a room with a window and ( small) balcony . Our room did indeed have a river view but only when you stood to look out of the window…disappointing although very comfortable.We would still hope to return .
