Location, location, location - This is the best hotel if you like staying in the heart of the old downtown. Their restaurant is good, staff is very hard working. Hotel is absolutely beautiful.

Parking is fine - there is a lot at the cathedral across the street, but we came during a wedding and it was full. I would have been totally screwed if I hadn't "tipped" the attendant to have my car parked in the full lot (and believe me, it was full). I think this was just a quirk because of the wedding, but beware if you are driving. Oh, they were understaffed, but we were there between Christmas and new years. The staff that was there worked literally 20 hours per day. They tried their best and made the experience wonderful. Kudos to the manager of the hotel and Jesus in the restaurant. I've never seen staff work as hard as them.

The location is great because it sits in the middle of most sites of interest and within easy walking distance. The pool is small but comfortable. We normally had just breakfast in the hotel but kitchen staff can be slow. I had been in this room two years or more ago and it has been totally updated. We Uber all over Old San Juan, Isla Verde and to and from the airport. First time user of Uber and it was easy. If I had rented a car it would have been at least $25.00 for parking and the rental cost. Do the math.

There is a big visual display that has misinformation regarding Jazz music on Friday nights. ' Interesting enough we also went to two other hotels and the front desk staff had difficulty answering certain basic questions about events at their own hotel regarding live music.

The daily cleaning service did not really clean. There were children’s toys in our room from the previous guests and the ice bucket had water in it clearly indicating no one bothered to check and clean. our bathroom was barely cleaned every day. only towels were replaced. Another issue that was not nice was that we arrived at 1:30pm so they told us to wait until our room is ready since check in time is 3pm. we waited and came back again they askedcus to wait longer. we only got our room at 5:30pm!!! when I asked that check in is at 3, why isnt the room ready, the reception told us “No, check is STARTS at 3.” This is the most bizarre thing I have heard in any hotel….

Location, hotel common hallways, coffee room, wine & cheese gathering were all lovely. Our Room was quiet, cool and comfortable. Front hall and desk staff were helpful and very nice.

Breakfast was the sole reason I didn't rate the hotel staff and facilities excellent. Our server brought my side of milk I had ordered for my oatmeal after I was done eating. She also brought us coffees we didn't order, and then fought with me to remove the extra coffee from the bill. Thankfully another server was nice about correcting it. This experience caused me to cancel my dinner reservation. It's too bad, because the food was very good, but I didn't want to chance a frustrating dinner experience due to service. We thought the hotel fee too high if you aren't going to use the beach outing, which we didn't in a 2 night visit. The sister hotel across the street rooftop deck had very little shade and ran out of Pina Coladas.

Amazing location, in the heart of Old San Juan. This is an older property, but decently comfortable.

Rooms are tiny, though the high ceiling makes up for it.

This is a beautiful hotel located in Old San Juan and right across the street from the Cathedral. We stayed for 8 nights and ate at the restaurant once. The restaurant was fine, but there are so many other places to go. We had breakfast twice and were well pleased. Other mornings we went to the plaza for coffee con leche and a breakfast sandwich. In the morning, there is coffee and an afternoon there is a wine and cheese reception (about 4 or 5 pm. Check for the schedule). Nearly everything you would want to do is within walking distance of the hotel. I toured the fitness center and it had everything you could ask for, but did I use the fitness center? Mofongo, no! I had no time and I did not come San Juan to get or stay skinny! I have seen dislikes about the wi-fi, but the staff will provide a wireless hotspot, if your room (like mine) has poor reception. What a great place to stay! There is a SuperMax grocery nearby. I never noticed this -- even on my 2nd trip to Old San Juan, but it on the east side of the plaza, about a block away. And another thing... the Hotel Convento has beach access to the Courtyard by Marriott in Isle Verde. This is an AWESOME beach (the best I saw in north PR) and the Uber ride was easy. The pool there is good, too. Typically a 5 minute wait. You will need to bring a receipt/proof of stay at the Hotel Convento -- I was able to use my room key and booking.com reservation, but check the front desk on what would make that easier. The beach boys will set you up with an umbrella and lounge chairs -- tip them! The drinks are expensive at the Marriott, so you might want to bring a small cooler and stop by that SuperMax store.

The laundry machine was out of service and there seemed to be no urgency about getting it fixed, so I hiked a couple of blocks to a small lavanderia (they gave me the name and location). (You can drop off or do on your own.)

The hotel is absolutely beautiful. I felt like I was a part of history, and the location was also right in the middle of the action, so to speak. Loved the free wine hour and delicious Gouda cheese! Also, when we arrived at around 2am the first night, the staff were able to come bring in extra sheets so I could sleep on the floor (I have a bad back and the mattress was too soft). I really appreciated this!!

The free breakfast left a lot to be desired. One of the days, we waited a full hour-plus to get our toast and bacon. The restaurant was far from capacity at the time.

The staff were all very helpful and friendly! The Courtyard at the Nispero was fun (we recommend that you make some cocktails with the Nispero fruit from that tree at the bar, though), and Trixie the Cat was a great Hostess! Loved the history, enjoyed the pool, and thought the old fixtures and doors, and the art and architecture made for a great ambiance. Enjoyed the Wine and cheese happy hour at the Palacio as well, and my wife really loved the Molton Brown amenities!

The 3rd floor construction was a little jarring, plus the taping off of the staircase at floor 4 kept us from using the stairs to get up and down from the 5th floor. I imagine it will be nicer/quieter when the construction is complete, though... Also, the Refrigerator produced a lot of moisture on the floor of the entryway when the AC was on. Seems like a pad or tray underneath it could keep that slippery moisture from building up on the floor. Might be nice to have drinks available at the pool (either alcoholic or just waters and juices)

Amazing location, thoughtful decor and all the beautiful plants surrounding it the lovely architecture. The square outside the hotel is lovely with benches and very lively cafe across the way. The second door definitely helps keep room cool & sound out. Smart design decision. Rooms are beautiful with vaulted ceiling. Classy and comfortable.

Bathroom very small & our room’s furniture could be more functional. They need like a chest of drawers instead of this piece of furniture that was more like a desk with only four very shallow drawers. The two stands also could’ve been converted to some kind of small chest or something that makes it easier to put your things away.. the look is very good needs to be more functional.

The location is perfect for exploring Old San Juan, and the front desk staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. The room was comfortable, and had a great view of the harbor. The afternoon wine and cheese event is lovely, and spending time by the pool in the late afternoon was very relaxing.

One reason we booked the hotel was "breakfast included" - but the included breakfast consisted only of "Full American" - eggs with toast and potatoes. Anything else was an extra charge, and it would have been helpful to have better information in advance. The wait staff seemed inexperienced and made many mistakes with our orders.
