Perfect location. Loved the little sitting/living room. Large refrigerator with a good size freezer. Comfortable beds. Friendly staff.

We had no microwave, this was our third stay here and we always had a microwave in the room. I also paid for ocean view. I picked this choice on our last trip and was on back of hotel with a perfect view up and down the beach. This time we were on the side facing the pool. (See photo)Yes, we could see the ocean but this seemed more like pool view than ocean view. Also we were thinking of using the pool however the railing at the steps were falling off and wobbly.

The breakfast room was being renovated so we did not get to experience it

Cabinets and bathroom vanities/cabinets need to be refinished or sanded down and painted

The room was clean and the staff were great. The breakfast room being remodeled was a minor disappointment, but we understand the work was being done in the off season, so that was no problem for us. The check in receptionist even suggested places to eat that we haven't tried before, and she was right. The restaurant she recommended was great. This was our third time staying at the Ocean Reef and we will be booking again next year! The room price and location was better than other hotels in the same location.

The only thing was we wished we could have done was to stay longer.

I'm not sure why this hotel got some bad reviews. Unless they were expecting a 5 star hotel. The staff was friendly, checking in was a breeze. The air conditioning rating 10 stars with me. We had The 5th floor ocean front, ocean views are rare in Obx, because of the preserved dunes. The bed was comfortable, the living room is large, and the room was clean. The refrigerator was a plus. New windows and doors with a good size balcony. No hot tub, not a problem for me. I would return to this hotel.

Outside halls are worn, and cabinets in the kitchen and bath. Expected at a beach hotel.

The room had lots of space. Bed was comfortable. Good view, location and parking. There is no longer continental breakfast, there is a larger fridge with freezer. Microwave and sink area. No carpet in the unit is nice for the beach area, units are being updated.

They could use a broom in the units as there was a lot of sand and the floors needed a sweep. The main unit doors could use a lower door seal as bugs can come in from under the door and you see the light through. Someone to sweep the halls and empty the main garages more often.

Staff very friendly, room was great, good price for area. Was weird floor was "wet" throughout the entire apt the entire time. I realize its by the beach and it was stormy, but never seen anything like it. Would have been nice to have a mop in the room to mop it while we were there. Needs updated, but we were happy.

no loungers at pool only chairs, wished there was a jacuzzi too. No breakfast and seemed like some homeless people were hanging around parking lot which made us a little uneasy.

I love the suite set up! This has been my favorite place to go to for the past 6 years! It's in a perfect location right on the beach. It's like having a one bedroom apartment and is very spacious out in the living room to where you don't feel crammed like most hotel rooms. It has a decent size fridge and not a little one! Perfect for storing food even the freezer. That's perfect for families with kids cuz you can put them in the room when it's time for bed! I do miss when they had the pull-down bed from the wall however they still have a pull-out couch for extra room if you'd like to lay out and watch TV while the kids are sleeping. :)

That they changed the pull-down queen size bed that used to be on the wall compared to the pull out couch. It was a bit hard putting the bed back into the couch versus pulling it from the wall. It makes it look a lot more empty inside the rooms and the tables are a lot smaller. I wish the floors were just a little bit cleaner I understand the grit from the beach with the sand. However sometimes the floors feel a little sticky as if they weren't cleaned well enough. These are all very minor things though I still absolutely love this place! It's never" dirty."

Was very friendly and comfortable. Was convient to many things with great views. And a great store Stop n Shop across the street that has great subs, and lots of souvenir things. I really loved how it has a living room, a half kitchen and bedroom separate. Oh and the bathroom stocked with the best smelling dove toiletries.They even were able to give me a bandaid when my son cut his toe on the bottom of the pool.I do wish they would supply dish soap. But in the future I know I need to bring it. Highly recommend. Great price and a great place. I'll definitely be staying with my family again!

Room was nice spacious and had everything we needed. We have stayed in the past and it was clear they updated a lot which was great. Our suite was missing a microwave so I’m not sure if it just wasn’t added yet or the one that was there was removed after a prior guest stay. Not a huge deal as we were only there one night. But it was convenient and very clean for our family.

The staff were awesome! Front desk in particular. She was very friendly and helpful. Very professional and welcoming.

Rooms were a little sparse with furniture and could use more updating with finishes. Couldn't get the tv to work. Sand in the corners where the vacuum probably didn't reach. No lounge chairs by the pool to lay on in the sun.
