A perfect location, just at the cathedral. Very helpful staff at the reception desk. We got a map with plenty of hand written information. Breakfast - simple but correct. Nice, spacious room. They have a deal with a parking nearby - San Clemente - with the discount of around 3€ we paid 15€/night. Plenty of shops and restaurants around.

Our bathroom was not clean properly (hair) - it was removed once we asked, but still some were left which should not have happened considering the price. We didn’t feel 100% comfortable about using the bathroom.

This is the second review as we booked the following days stay separately some months later. So we moved from rooms 31 & 32 which were listed as single rooms to 02 & 25 which were double. All rooms were excellent - if we could have stayed in our original rooms we would have been happy as they were somewhat less expensive! However, we didn't make this second booking until a couple of weeks before arrive, so supply and demand kicks in. An absolute gem of a hotel and the staff are lovely and helpful. Lovely breakfast. Rooms were excellent and a great location near to the Cathedral. Would highly recommend and would return.

This is our second time staying at the Hotel Rua Villar (third time in Santiago de Compostela)- we only stayed one night (not finishing the Camino this time.) We chose a slightly smaller room since we only had the one night and the room was very nice and even had a view of the Cathedral tower. If we were staying longer than one night, like we did last time, we would opt for the larger room just so we could have the seating area. We did not have breakfast at the hotel. We walked to the train station the next day since it a short walk and all downhill. For dinner we ate at - A Horta d'Obradoiro (wonderful!) although you must make a reservation far in advance!

Rooms were excellent and a great location near to the Cathedral. Although on the main thoroughfare the rooms that we were in were quiet (31&32). These were listed as single rooms - but had good sized double beds in each. We moved into two different rooms the following day (02&25). These were listed as double rooms and were considerably bigger - again, both rooms were very quiet and quite simply beautiful. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good. Would return.

This is our second Camino arrival to Santiago and we liked this choice much more than the previous. The room was huge and tastefully decorated (seating area and bed area.) We had a view of the street below and there were no noise issues from below. We did not have breakfast there since there were local choices. The location is perfect since it is just a few steps from the Cathedral (got to the 7:30PM pilgrims Mass at 6:30PM and the Cathedral was already 3/4 full for Mass!) The front desk staff are very nice and gave us a good choice for our next day dinner selection (and they made the reservation the day before for us!) We walked the next day to the train station rather than taking a taxi (we were familiar with the simple straight route to the station).

The property is in a fantastic location in Santiago with Santiago cathedral right beside it and is beautiful throughout, this along with some of the best staff I’ve come across made my stay in Santiago very relaxing. The hotel has a lift making it ideal for people of all ages. The property has a 24hr car park organised where they will pay a percentage of the overall fee. This carpark is only a few mins walk to the hotel and has a police station right beside it making it very safe and trusting.

Hotel Rua Villar is perfectly located next to the Cathedral Square, 1 minute walk and you are at the Cathedral. I stayed here for one night to extend my stay in Santiago after completing Camino!. Hotel has perfect location, as well as being very close to Cathedral also within easy reach of several restaurants & shops. Hotel reception staff made me feel welcomed straight away when I checked in plus each time I either exited or returned to the hotel. I had a spacious room on top floor. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent plenty of choice. Would happily stay here again.

The location was perfect-steps away from the cathedral and dozens of dining and shopping options. The hotel itself was superbly appointed-an exceptionally restored historic building with classic features like original wood bands and stone walls intact. The front desk is staffed around the clock which made it very stress free to get a taxi to the airport on the morning of our departure. Just make sure you let them know the day before.

Great location. Hotel had a lot of charm, one of our walls was stone. Shutters and double doors made room quiet overnight despite central location.

Parking is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel (located in pedestrian area). Cost with hotel discount approximately €35 for 2 days. Rolling a suitcase over cobble stones may be difficult for some. Hotel makes sure you are fully aware of the parking situation (provides exact GPS directions), but it might an issue for some people.

The hotel is right next to the cathedral. It was a perfect end to our Camino walk. The staff were professional and the check in was easy. My friend had her backpack transported to the hotel that day and the staff placed it in her room for her so it was ready for when she arrived. They kindly informed us of a parade later that evening, although we were too tired to make it. I love the historic feel and look of the place. We could see the top of the cathedral from our window.
