This place is a paradise. Once we opened the door and till the moment we closed it behind us. Light touch of jazz in the air, amazing views in every window, coziness and cleanliness. We spent all our time exploring the island and came back to our hotel to spend time in the room (I think it was the best room in the hotel and special thanks for that!), in the lobby, in the hall, on the lawn behind the hotel. Every place was just magical. Fully equipped kitchen, tasty continental breakfast and exquisite cake everyday during the day. Quick stable internet and any place in the hotel.

Nothing to complain about

The building and the gardens are beautiful. Inside is stunning especially the common areas such as the lounge rooms and the view from the dining room is incredible. The hosts provide an outstanding breakfast which was way more than we expected and then they also provide delicious treats for morning tea as well! Ash and Brock are the consummate hosts, nothing is too much trouble. It was an ideal place to finish off our Tasmanian holiday, thank you!

Really the only thing I went looking for but couldn’t find was a box of tissues in our room.

Ash and Brock made us feel right at home and pretty spoilt at the same time. First impressions: we were in awe, it is grand and beautiful, yet warm and inviting. Our suite had phenomenal views where we loved watching the weather or an ocean liner making its way to the harbour. The bed was soft yet supportive, perfect! Other options besides the quilt were in the cupboard. Fresh air, you can open the windows! Great mini kitchen in our room plus access to the main kitchen downstairs (especially to check out the freshly baked afternoon tea which also smelt wonderful while it was cooking) Strong, hot shower. Very quiet, completely dark with the heavy curtains drawn. No barking dogs or traffic noise at all. It is an intimate hotel, yet you feel completely private and unable to hear neighbouring guests. However we did enjoy chatting to them at the long dining table in the morning (You can choose to have breakfast delivered to your room as well). Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Luggage is taken upstairs for you or out to the car. We would stay again in a heartbeat, thank you Ash and Brock.

It is not just a stay here, it’s truly an experience! You can really feel the love in what has been created in every detail at Grande Vue Hotel from the furnishings in every stunning room, the amazing views, the heritage, the beautiful soft music, the lovely gardens, the peacefulness, the generous hospitality, and the divine breakfasts and afternoon tea. The location is superb too, an easy walk to Salamanca and Franklin Wharf. My first time in Hobart would not have been as wonderful as it was had I not stayed here.

Lovely hotel in Battery Point, near good coffee (Kombi), a venerable pub (Shipwright's) and a great baker (Jackman). The views of the river and hills from room #7 were fantastic. The room was spacious. There's no bathtub in this room; shower had good water pressure and very hot water. There's a fridge, kettle, Nespresso, sink, and microwave in the room, and you're near the very lovely kitchen which offered lots of breakfast supplies and afternoon snacks. The location is an easy 12-minute walk to Salamanca Market. I chose this location and lodging for the quiet and found that they were indeed very quiet. No noise at all from the street; sound does travel a bit from one room to the next but that was not at all an issue -- I'm highly noise sensitive and found the room very tranquil. I had to store my luggage for a few hours after checking out and the managers were very helpful with that even though they are not on site.

Beautifully appointed rooms throughout with stunning collection of furniture and artworks. Even kitchen area was styled beautifully. Very attentive staff (especially Ricardo) who remembered our coffee order from day to day, and readily helped with bags, parking permit etc. Lovely view from our (huge) bedroom. Simple but delicious continental breakfast with local artisanal muesli, preserves and breads . Also lovely home baking and fruit offered every afternoon. Yum!

Nothing we did not like

Love everything about this boutique stay. The location is quiet but accessible and walkable to everything that is interesting in Hobart; the views are spectacular; the design and furnishing are appropriate for the heritage house without being overly fussy; the breakfast is excellent as is the dining area with a knock out view. Most rooms have spectacular sea views. The public spaces are inviting and cosy and the bedrooms are a perfect size. I like that one is left to ones own devices and the home baked cakes and pastries are terrific. Pretty newly landscaped garden. Wouldnt stay anywhere else in Hobart.

The over powering potpourri scent in the common areas.

Amazing views combined with thoughtful amenities, beautifully decorated bedrooms and shared spaces, with comfortable furniture and gorgeous artwork and interesting books. Having a full kitchen available 24/7 is awesome, plus the continental breakfast that catered for gluten and lactose dietary requirements served in sustainable reusable containers was so responsible, even the coffee pods were compostable! Having a kitchenette in the room was an added bonus. And the cakes and biscuits were incredibly delicious. Loved staying here, would definitely recommend. Perfect for an escape from the kids!

Not hotel's fault but a guest used knife for butter and then stuck in one of the jam jars! But maybe hotel could put a sign up asking people to use a clean knife for each condiment. There is a dishwasher and heaps of knives so using multiple knives would be easy for guests to do. I was surprised an adult would do this, even my kids know about food contamination.

We loved the elegance of the period decor and the attention to detail. The sound proof rooms made it easy to sleep. Breakfast inclusion was appreciated and the welcome biscuits were a lovely touch. Ricardo was lovely and showed us through the property. He was very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely stay at the Grande Vue Hotel again and we have already recommended it to our friends.

There was nothing we didn't like. Our stay was perfect.

We particularly loved the spectacular view from our room and that Grande Vue was so close to the city. Battery Point itself, the part of Hobart where Grand Vue is located, is a beautiful area with historic houses, so definitely worth seeing. There was home made cake you could help yourself to in the afternoon and the owner Ash was a lovely and caring person. Parking wasn’t an issue either as it’s possible to get a resident parking permit.

There was absolutely nothing to complain about and I would stay there again anytime. It was even the best accommodation we had during our 4-week-vacation in Australia.
