Loved the room which was: comfortable, clean with a great bath and shower. Breakfast was included and excellent. It was freshly cooked to a high standard. The evening meals choice may not have been extensive but the standard of the meals we had were excellent. Both my wife, and I, congratulated Matthew the cook two nights running as we both agreed that we had not eaten such perfectly cooked meals in a very long time. The staff were outstanding friendly - all of them. Michelle who looks after reservation sorted out some problems for me before we arrived! She also looked after us on arrival. Michael ensured that we were well looked after both on the evening meal and breakfast even ensuring that I was provided with some desperately needed cheese. I have to mention: Dave; Helen; Adam and Harry who looked after us during our stay.

Two minor comments. 1. I really enjoy a cheese board not everyone enjoys puddings. Though not on the menu one was kindly provided. 2. It would be nice to have some leaflets available on places of local interest.

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. The room was lovely, spacious and clean. We booked last minute and were called to inform us that there was a wedding on and it could potentially be noisy. It wasn’t one bit. We had a lovely night and the breakfast in the morning was lovely. All the staff went above and beyond. Would definitely stay again.

Only thing that we said would have been nice for £248 a night was a dressing gown. Husband had just done the Pennine Barrier Ultra 50 and after his shower he just wanted to relax and asked if there was a dressing gown and there wasn’t one.

What a wonderful place to stay, as soon as you drive in up the driveway I felt relaxed as the road takes you through the grounds and right up to the hotel. The staff are all really welcoming and friendly, I was checked into my room really efficiently without any fuss or bother. The hotel bar area looks well stocked, the hotel was warm and welcoming as soon as I walked through the door. In the lounge area I was met with an open fire burning away, the facilities are really well cared for and presented throughout the hotel. I ate evening meal there and it was delicious, as was breakfast, ample cooked to order and fresh.

There is nothing to not like at Skirk House Hotel, everything is well appointed and nothing I guess would be too much to ask from their staff who are just the right side of friendly without being overbearing.

We have recently started going away on a Friday evening to support both me and my partners mental health. He is caring full-time for his elderly parents and I am setting up my own business. So to ensure that we have time together, we have started picking a hotel to stay away for an evening and then visit local attractions the next day. This hotel by far exceeded our expectations and it will definitely be one we visit again and again. The food was exceptional, they staff were warm and welcoming and the room lovely. Thank you

Loved the breakfast, food was amazing. Staff go above and beyond. Cleaning staff were amazing assisting us to get into our room early as we were there for a wedding g that started at 2pm and couldn't get in our room until 3.30. But while we were waiting outside the changing room to get changed, a member of staff asked if we knew pur room number. She then went down to reception found out for us and proceed to bring our key up and assist us into our room. Absolutely lovely xx

The bed was not to our preference. So we didn't sleep great. It also didn't help that the lights kept going on and off in the hallway.

Rated as a top wedding venue this is also a very beautiful retreat and beautiful scenery. We have stayed here multiple times as the staff are exceptional and the hotel has a wonderful ambience. Winter months it's very cosy with a log fire roaring in the lounge. The rooms are spacious, very clean and en-suites have good shower with some rooms having a stand alone bath too. Lovely breakfast in the Seasons restaurant. Fantastic area for walkers and cyclists.

There is absolutely nothing I do not like hence that's why we visit and stay over when we can.

This was a lovely, quirky old property with blended modern elements and well presented grounds. The lounge with an open fire was a cosy public space. The rooms we had were very spacious and well equipped, with pleasant views. Staff were pleasant and very helpful.

Nothing to complain about really. Just a bit surprised there were no clearly marked disabled parking bays. Arriving at a busy time during a wedding, there were spaces but few of them close to the reception allowed room to get in and out of a vehicle as easily as you can in the wider disabled spaces.

Gorgeous property in a stunning location. Wonderful staff, friendly and welcoming. Food was lovely- all homemade. Breakfast was plentiful with loads of choice. Really enjoyed the sausages. The bedroom was spacious with views over the countryside.. and sheep! Tastefully decorated throughout and a real pleasure to enjoy the extensive grounds. The only downside for us- hence markdown- the bedroom was very warm and stuffy. No fan and as per polite notice not to open windows because of flies and midges it was too warm to sleep properly despite a comfortable bed. Also not enough sockets. All 3 by TV. By bed would have been handy.

No fan or air con in newer part of the hotel. Not enough sockets.

I booked this property on a B&B basis and on that basis the hotel was first class. The building and grounds are stunning, the room was spacious, airy and comfortable and the staff were exceptionally friendly and efficient. All in all superb value for money and breakfast was superb.

Unfortunately we decided to book an evening meal and although I have no complaints about the cooking or presentation it was definitely overpriced. £10.50 for 3 duck bon bons, £24 for a fish pie and £22 for a curry that would have been very small if we hadn't paid £4 extra for some prawns. B&B certainly but evening meal next time in a local inn.

Everything is just so nice. Beautiful building and grounds. We had the basic room which was really lovely. The reception rooms are welcoming with a lovely log fire. Food in the restaurant wasn't cheap but very nice. Finally the staff, these guys are the best, friendly, helpful and always smiling.

Nothing to dislike during our stay. It is a popular wedding venue, there was a wedding the day we left, and I wouldn't like to be there then but that's only because I don't like busy, noisy places.
