Loved the hotel, staff were fabulous, breakfast was lovely, the leisure facilities were very good, and Malahide with the dart into Dublin was a very enjoyable place to stay. There were lovely restaurants and coffee shops in the village, and the walk to Portmarnock was a most enjoyable sea walk.We stayed for the weekend, and as a weekend away, it was a most enjoyable weekend. I would highly recommend this hotel to others.
The lift was awkward. We were on the fifth floor, so we gad to get the lift to the first floor, walk 2 corridors, and then get the lift to the 5th floor. This, however, was the only slightly negative aspect of the weekend.

Beautiful hotel Very nice reception staff Lovely room Comfortable bed
Buffet breakfast. We arrived 15 mins before closure. We were seated the furthest away from the buffet possible. I have mobility problems and walk with a stick. The seating lady apologised for the distance i was away from the breakfast area but said nothing could be done. Reality is they wanted to be able to clear the top area to set it up for lunch. There was hardly anything left in the cooked breakfast section. A lady came out with extras in dribs and drabs. By the time we had our cooked breakfast, most of it was cold.

We received a room upgrade which was lovely.
I rang prior to our stay and asked if I could add breakfast for 2 onto our booking. The receptionist replied ghat it would be ok to do that. I didn’t realise that she had sent an email to my junk folder asking me to confirm the addition of breakfast on to my booking at a reduced price. When we checked out on Sunday morning I was very disappointed to be told that I was being charged full price for the breakfast.i rang the hotel on Sunday evening and the receptionist told me that she would look into this matter but I am still waiting for a response.

My wife and I went to Ireland recently as she wanted to see where her dad was born and brought up. We decided that we would also spend a few days exploring the country. It was notable that in several places that local people we spoke to asked if we were going to Dublin – we had planned our last 3 days there and each one suggested that we should stay at the Grand Hotel. This included family members, some of whom lived quite a way from Dublin. Quite smugly, we told them all that we had already selected and booked the hotel for three days. Our stay there was the absolute highlight of our holiday. The hotel is in a beautiful location right on the coast. Parking was good, particularly in the underground car park that had a convenient lift to guest rooms and facilities. The experience began, of course, at reception. The registration process was amazingly quick and professional – the staff were extremely courteous and efficient. We quickly found our room, a twin aspect corner room with views over the marina and coast. Breakfast was taken in the Dining Room, which has picturesque views over the estuary. This also doubles up as the Coast Restaurant, which is open on Friday and Saturday evenings. Our last night was a Friday, so we chose to eat here in the evening. It was so good that we have chosen to write a separate review. As is customary these days breakfast was largely self-service, but with some food, such as an Irish breakfast, that was freshly cooked. The choice of food on offer was extensive, for exfor example several different types of bread, plenty of fresh fruits, cold cuts and, always a good sign, a welcoming pot of porridge. We also dined several times in the Matt Ryan bar. The Hotel says that this is the social hub of the hotel and we are happy to endorse this. The menu is varied and reasonably extensive, especially when compared with other 4* hotels we stayed at in Ireland. Indeed, the seafood chowder stands in comparison with Boudin in San Francisco.
In short, absolutely nothing

Breakfast, rooms, staff were friendly.
I stayed there in August and paid $110 Euro and when I needed a room last minute in Sept, they increased the price to $260 Euro ... more than double which seemed like gouging.

Hotel is beautiful and located near everything in Malahide. So close to the castle. A short walk to town with pubs and restaurants or to the beach.
The rooms were HOT. The windows only opened 4 inches and could not get air in. No air-conditioning, which can be common in Irleand. The air outside was cool at night but couldn't get the air into the room. They did bring a fan when we asked. If you stay, ask for a first floor room! The room on higher floors were hotter. There is a hotel fan or something humming outside oir window but that didn't bother me with the fan running in our room. To get to the room qas a series of halls and different stairs or different elevators we had to take....it was like walking through a maze to get to the room. That was a bit annoying. Other than the heat , it was a decent old renovated hotel with nice rooms.

The hotel is located in a short working distance from the town center with plenty dining and drinking options. The room was very nice and the bathroom was pristine; both were generously sized. The bed was very comfortable.
The hotel has the strangest layout. To get to the room we had to ride an elevator to another floor, then walk a long and winding hallway to another elevator, and only then arrive to your floor and look for your room. Needless to say, we were lost each time trying to get in and out of the room.

The rooms are beautifully decorated and updated. Bathroom has a marvelous huge walk in shower. Even the soaps/shampoo/conditioner are top notch. The front desk staff are so accommodating. Our flight got in very early,so we were at the hotel by 10am. They went above and beyond to get our rooms ready early. We had them between 11am and 1pm. So understanding of our need for relaxation. The meals are all delightful too. The pub on site had yummy lunch. A great atmosphere too. Would definitely recommend anyone to spend time here. The view from my room was excellent too.

Great location, bright and airy room. Lovely toiletries. Very comfortable.
Despite paying an over inflated room price without breakfast - 360E for a twin instead of the usual 240E (as they were clearly taking advantage of a local concert) - our room was not ready at check in (even though we checked in online in advance and paid in full). Told by an unhelpful member of staff that check is not AT 3pm, but FROM 3pm. Similar issue happened with another pair of guests at around 16.15 when I went to finally get my key. They’d clearly paid similar gouged prices and room still not ready at that time. Left a bad taste, especially with the same staff member rolling her eyes when the guests politely expressed their dissatisfaction given the price hike. Do better.

The location of the hotel was exceptional! It was close to the harbor, with lovely views, but also very walkable to town and a bit longer walk to the Malahide Castle and Gardens. I loved the covered parking, where I could ditch the car and explore Malahide on foot. The room was quiet and comfortable, the bathroom was exquisite (and sparkling clean). The reception area and lobbies were calm, serene, and beautifully decorated. Finally, breakfast was fantastic, with kind, attentive staff, and a ton of options to choose from. Finally, the Dublin airport was a quick, easy, toll-free drive from the hotel, making that the icing on the cake!
The view from our room overlooked a parking lot (but I think I did not choose a "harbor view" room because of the extra cost). That was the only thing "lacking" in our stay.
