We loved absolutely everything. We loved the room, the staff, the food, the location, the atmosphere of the place, we loved absolutely every part of our stay and we're very sad to leave. Next time we would love to stay longer. This place is everything BUT standard. You can feel the love that is put into running this hotel and restaurant. And the food!! So good! Since we stayed at the hotel we were able to book a table for dinner which not only made it easy for us, but also meant we got to spend a great evening chatting to people in the pub and eat some of the best dishes on our trip. We will most definitely be back next year!

Gorgeous old medieval building, so interesting! Cosy pub, great bar and we loved our crooked room at the top of the crooked stairs. The staff were so friendly too. We felt very at home! The food was lovely, obviously they have a very good chef - and service very friendly and prompt. They also made our little dog very welcome (Rye is a very dog friendly location!).

The only slight downside(and it’s very slight) was the parking as there isn’t any. We parked in the cattle market car park and it’s just a 5 minute walk away.

The room was large with all extras included. An individual coffee pod machine and a fan were added extras that showed that customer care was an important factor. Breakfast was superb. We did not have Dinner as we chose another restaurant more suited to our needs, however the meals did look inviting. All staff were exceptional in every way.

My only criticism was the lack of a shower in our room. However I was shown another 3 rooms with shower for my next visit. So i now know which room to book. We will DEFINITELY be back.

Beautiful old building with a cosy atmosphere and friendly staff on my arrival. Narrow, steep old staircase up to my room, which overlooked the orange roof tiles of historical buildings in Rye! Comfy bed with a warm ensuite. Original features and tasteful decor and furnishings.

Nothing. There is no parking at The Standard Inn, but there is plenty of pay to park options nearby. The advice given to me by the Bar Man was helpful.

Great location and lovely room. We were in the Hythe room. Bed was very comfy. Very good range for breakfast and enjoyed two excellent meals there in the evening. Staff were very friendly. Would definitely return.

As the room was above the bar area and it is an old building, there was noise from below in the evening. This did not bother us as the music was turned off at 10pm and it was quiet by 10.30pm however some people might not like it. It was lovely and peaceful to wake up in the morning.

Very country and historic feel to the property. Our room (Dover) was fantastic and spacious. I would not recommend this room if you struggle with stairs. The room has a bit of a slope to it which I loved as it added to the uniqueness of the property. Friendly staff, excellent food and great breakfast. The location is perfect for exploring with many pubs, shops and restaurants within close walking distance. Parking is £2.50 a day and a short walk away. You can’t park there overnight on Tues and Weds until 17:00 due to a weekly market but there are other car parks not far.

You will have to sit in the bath for a shower due to the roof but I did not mind this at all.

We took our friends from Dallas USA. we wanted to show them a beautiful town and stay in a beautiful old inn with accommodation. wow this place had everything you could ask for. the atmosphere was amazing. we stayed at the bar till it closed. then headed up to our warm cosy rooms. Yes you can here the bar from your room, just but it is an inn. if you visit Rye and even don't stay here please visit for a drink and food its fantastic.

The locks on the doors appeared to be not too safe

Staff were incredible, they were sociable, offered help at every turn and made sure all our needs were met. The food was outstanding! The area was superb! It was safe, close to everything we needed, it felt like home from home. We can’t wait to return. Special mention to Ellen, Lucy & Amy 💓

Beautiful old inn full of characture, the room was beautiful and bed very comfy. The breakfast was delicious (veggie version was really tasty). Location is brilliant, in the heart of the town on a very quaint street, with all the historic sites a few minutes walk away. Would definitely stay again. The staff were really friendly and helpful.

Only thing was the walls are very thin between rooms and we could hear the conversations next door and below in the bar. However, they very thoughtfully provide little ear plugs if you need then!
