We had a great room at the Rex (spa suite) and the staff did an excellent job with honouring my booking preference requests, for the room and our special occasion. The amenities were fantastic. The room was quiet, comfortable, spacious -- including the spa tub and dual shower -- and an ideal location for travel to the convention centre. We didn't add the buffet breakfast option, but the $15 egg bacon roll and coffee take-out breakfast was a fine option for our morning routine.

Not many complaints about the Rex. The free wifi wasn't great, as others have noted. (When will fast, secure, free wifi be the standard at every decent Australian hotel?) Fortunately, we didn't need it much on this short trip. Suggestion for the Rex team: For spa/sauna suite guests, have robes and slippers already in the room instead of by request from front desk. And have a selection bath salts/minerals available for these rooms, in the room like tea/coffee/soaps, as the large spa tub was lovely but lacking those, and the front desk had none, which is an oversight for these rooms given the other wonderful Christophe Robin bathroom amenities.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, they didn’t hesitate when I said my child was sick and we needed to extend our check out time. They also helped a lot with refilling our water bottles from their filtered tap, heated up our meals, gave information about tram etc.

The room is slightly old style and the drainage of the sink was almost blocked ( I think the cleaner should be aware of this as they clean it everyday, so they should fix it before the customers come). The breakfast charged $28 pp but with very limited choices, good thing is the coffee was made by the staff freshly. The tv is not a smart tv which can’t connect to YouTube.

The Rex is in a good location for exploring Canberra. Lots of nice bars and restaurants in walking distance too. The room looked as if it had recently been refreshed, as everything looked new and modern. It was fresh and clean, quiet and comfortable. The bathroom had a nice collection of products and the shower was great. The view from the rooftop bar is lovely and a nice place to have a drink.There is some onsite parking, which we were lucky enough to get. Attentive, friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble. I would stay here again.

I know it is reflected in the price of the room but I did miss the convenience of having a kettle, tea and coffee in the room.

Location is amazing. Staff were brilliant. The roof top bar and cocktail bar are wonderful. The cocktails and the food. Fantastic! The Eclipse cocktail…. 1 was Not enough. The rooms were super comfy with phenomenal water pressure.

Lack of parking is an issue. Was told couldn’t reserve parking… apparently you can. Only other thing I found wrong was this noise we could hear in our room. Every 5 mins it sounded like an electrical transformer was about to go pop.

The atmosphere as soon as you walk in was Luxe, the staff friendly and welcoming. The room decor and feel had a wonderful ambience. The shower products felt and smelt amazing. Having 2 seperate toilets was great. Easy to find. Extensive room service menu Close to everything we needed

The bed was far too firm, and I would compare it to sleeping on a hardwood floor. The lounge was also not comfortable to sit on to relax. Parking is an issue as there are very few limited spots available.

A comfortable place with super helpful staff. When we reached the hotel parking it was late evening and the parking was full but still the hotel security went above and beyond to help move stuff around to create a parking space and also later helping with the directions and recommendation for dining places nearby. Reception staff was super polite and efficient and helped with late checkout without any fuss. This will be my go to place from now whenever we visit Canberra or nearby places.

Good sized room with comfortable king bed, large screen TV, free WiFi and a heated indoor pool and gym. Staff were friendly and helpful. Restaurant for breakfast and dinner although we preferred to eat out.

Had to go out the front door and round the side to get to the building with the pool. Onsite parking is challenging when getting back to the hotel at night after dinner, but always found on street parking a short walk away. Shower fluctuated with hot and slightly cool water, but was still comfortable.

Excellent location around 10 minute to local restaurants and 25-40 minute walk / 5-10 minute drive to the city and attractions. Hotel manager very helpful and offered to store our bikes in the hotel for added security.

Room allowed noise from the hallway to enter and out room was above the main bins so even on public holiday, they were collected at 6am. Parking is limited during very busy periods so we left the car and walked / used public transport to ensure car parking on site.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The BEST pillow ever (30% goose down). I tried to buy one but sadly, they said they had none for sale. The room service menu, although very limited (who doesn't have at least one soup on the menu?), was fresh and tasty with generous serves. The big breakfast included 3 poached eggs!

It was a big push to get Mum from the accessibility parking underneath up the steep drive. The carpet leading to the bathroom had a hump in it. The furniture (black) was showing signs of age. Maybe some touch up paint could make it feel less run down. Unfortunately, there was a function downstairs the night we were there, which was very noisy. Next morning , I had occasion to use the public bathroom around the corner from reception and needed to alert them to the fact that two of the three basins were covered in vomit. Reception immediately informed the cleaner. It might be wise practice to always check the restrooms near the function rooms. It wasn't super early either... after 7.30am.

Canberra Rex Hotel is located just a couple tram stops away from central Canberra where the city's main shopping mall and nightlife are located. The rooms are fine but the Wi-Fi, at least on the third floor where I stayed, was terrible. I notified the front desk, and they did give me the password for a different network, but this didn't help and so I was forced to use data on my phone to access the internet. In 2024, bad Wi-Fi at a business-style hotel just doesn't make any sense. Otherwise, everything was good and the hotel is perfectly adequate for a short stay.
