Nice location and rooms lovely. Nice side entrance to get in and out for guests. Hassle free check in.

Very expensive Dog rate per night, understand there needs to be a rate but for 3 night an extra £45 was a lot to pay. When it makes no difference to them and nothing extra was provided. Lovely hotel but this price is much higher than I’ve paid before anywhere else in the lakes. Has put me off rebooking.

The hotel is right in the centre of Ambleside. Whilst there's no parking, the 30 minute public parking rule on the main street means this was not a problem for us. The place is dog friendly throughout with the exception of a small part of the restaurant causing no problems. Room size is very good. The menu is varied and of reasonable value. Jess, who works the bar, is lovely, hard working and a great asset being so friendly. I'd emply her tomorrow!

The place struggles a bit with identity trying to be a hotel, a busy pub serving meals to walk-ins and large groups and a town centre bar. Because all transactions (food, drinks and hotel reception) is done from the bar it can mean you have to wait, especially when large organised groups turn up as walk ins without booking. As there's no residents lounge or dining area hotel residents may have to wait should you fail to time your trip to the bar favourably, finding you have been top trumped by a group of 20 meaning your meal order is an hours wait.

Overall the breakfast was very good decent selection of food and main breakfast options , and once ordered the wait wasn't very long at all. The room we had was comfortable but the television was located to the side of the bed not ideal, shower and bathroom ok but the view from the room very disappointing . The downstairs bar area was very accommodating and had a traditional cosy feel. Bar staff very nice . The location is ideal right in the centre of town and we had no issues with noise levels later at night as our room was located to the rear of the inn.

The location of the television in the room was to the side of the bed so not ideal and also if you aren't comfortable with dogs probably not for you but we didn't have an issue and I'm not really a dog lover.

Our Room (207) was very fit for purpose, it was not the largest Room we have stayed in, but served us well. Clean & Airy, just a little small to get around, passing at the foot of the bed for instance & no particular place to keep your suitcase! Breakfast was exceptional, particularly on our first Morning (Tuesday 29thApril’25) food was excellent, completed by the ever cheerful Maria. Location was superb, right in the Centre of Town, Parking is always going to be a bit problematic (suppose an assigned location, would be perfect?) all in all, a great Stay!

We remember this as the old "Queen's Hotel" so we were pleasantly surprised to find how much of a makeover it's had. The Ambleside Inn is lovely. It's in a perfect location - right in the heart of Ambleside. We loved everything about it. The room was clean & comfortable, the breakfast options were excellent, the price was very good. The staff were really helpful. It was fab. One minor observation was that during our 3 night stay - our rooms weren't serviced at all. Apart from that - it was the perfect place to stay.

The staff were friendly and environment really nice being all decked out for Christmas. The location is perfect and breakfasts are great.

The room was a little tired and in need of repair here and there (cracked ceiling plaster for example) The bathroom was a little small for my liking, but not a deal breaker. We were in room 111 and therefore a few stairs to encounter while carrying our heavy bags up a few flights was entailed. The very minimal (both amount of spaces and 30 minute maximum waiting time) 'front of hotel' car parking was full on our arrival, so not being able to drop our bags off and having to carry them from the nearest car park a few hundred yards away was a real bind. Ambleside does have a lot of double yellow lines!! Car parking is far from free by the way (unless on Sunday), but not unreasonable for the normally expected prices for anywhere in the Lake District.

All staff were very helpful and friendly, very comfortable bed, lovely and clean, central location and great evening meals and cooked breakfast. Nice views across to the fells from our room, which was at the rear of the hotel. Although above the road and close to shops we were not disturbed by any road noise at all. A lovely stay - Many thanks to all the staff.

No parking available at this hotel. Overnight parking in Ambleside is a little more complicated than other places we have stayed, so it's a good idea to read up about this before visiting by car, for an overnight stay. Steam extractor fan in bathroom was not working (looked like the fan hasn't worked for some time) informed staff on leaving.

The pub area downstairs is nice warm and welcoming great central location for walking however it took awhile to get a car park space and had a longish walk to the hotel so not ideal with luggage or small children on a busy weekend. All staff were super welcoming and work tireless in the busy bar area. Breakfast in the morning was great although had to wait around 40 mins for it after ordering but it was worth the wait. Again the staff were great.

The rooms were dated, furniture had chips and looked tired. En-suite wasn’t fully clean upon arrival you could see bits which had been missed. Also put on a high up floor so as I had knee problems this wasn’t ideal but was told there were no other rooms.

We were pleased with our rooms as we had asked for quiet rooms away from the roads and these were provided. Frank was also very helpful in helping us get an internet connection up and running. The location of the hotel is good for us as we came by public transport and the bus connections are nearby. Maybe this should be stressed as part of the Inn Collections efforts to encourage others to leave their cars behind and thus help reduce their carbon footprint.

We've stayed before and have no complaints. Might sometimes like the breakfast hours to be extended a bit, but this is no big deal.

Room well-appointed, though a lift would help with large suitcases. Facilities entirely acceptable and excellent from the window. Less than ten minutes; walk from the event I was attending and location was just right. I enjoyed my breakfast and would like to express my sincere thanks to the member of staff who helped me find my contact lens on the floor! That and the quality of my stay made my day!

No lift and the staffing at arrival meant there was a bit of a delay in checking.
