Firstly, it was great to reserve a Taxi in advance through Booking.com since this is our first time stepping foot into the African continent. It was so convenient to have someone with a sign looking for you by the airport exit. I love the location of the Hotel Royal Victoria because it's right next to the Souks marketplaces which is like a maze if you are not careful. Cafe, restaurants and banks are nearby. The hotel staffs are unbelievably helpful and friendly. I never thought learning a foreign language can be so challenging until I tried learning a little Arabic. When I realized at least 50% of the people in Tunis also speak French, I felt so relief. The room, the lobby and the hallway are as ornate as you see in their photos. The mosaic tiles are stunning. Oh, I love the breakfast. The kitchen staff (the cook) was so wonderful so I tipped her every morning. Since we were staying there for 3 days, I was able to try everything from Omelet to pastries to "believe it or not, eggplant".

Nothing.

The location of Royal Victoria is excellent: on one of the main city squares, with rooms in view of one of the old city gates, it is an ideal location to experience the Medina behind it, as well as to stroll through the Ville Nouvelle ahead. Very convenient for taxi pick up/drop off too. The medina is dead at night, so after hours you will still have the Ville Nouvelle/new town to explore. The room was really huge and with two tiny balconies on the square. The bathroom was also huge and really beautifully tiled, with a traditional pattern. Same for the corridors, which look like a museum. The breakfast was a great winner: it is a full buffet peppered with traditional sweets and savouries (breakfast cous cous!), ready-made omelettes, citronnade, fresh fruit and more. Great to get you ready for the day.

Minor details, but I think the room could be decorated a bit more: Tunisia is reach in traditional decor of space and while the bathroom was great, I thought the room could go a step further. Other than that, great!

Breakfast could be improved- items we’re not being topped up No hair conditioner provided Unable to control air conditioning ourselves and one room got hot Hot water in the bathroom was fluctuating temperature

The location ,at the Medina's edge,is the main advantage of this hotel. Next is the heritage character of the building itself.Third ,the wonderful outdoor cafe attached to the hotel. Hotel's restaurant is pretty good. Breakfast was acceptable.I appreciated the fresh strawberries and oranges each morning. Pleasant front office ,restaurant and cleaning staff.

My room lacked any real air conditioning. The system moved air but failed to cool it,so I slept with windows open. In the summer months this might be a problem. The bustling plaza in front of the hotel becomes quiet at night-until about 6 a.m. when motor traffic can be heard.

Great location. Friendly and helpful staff right down to the cleaning staff. Interesting decor and history of the building. Balcony overlooking the old medina gate was a bonus. Food was good by Tunisian standards. A wide selection for breakfast. Dinner options limited by the kitchen having no lamb or octopus when I dined there but dishes nevertheless cooked well. Easy to pick up a taxi from in front of the Hotel (a necessity in Tunis as public transport is not good)

TV did not pick up any channels. Shower did not maintain a consistent temperature. Fridge made gurgle noises when cycling. Hotel doorman (who looked like Hercule Poirot but without the moustache) jumping out and interrogating you every time you entered the Hotel. Note that the TGM train line has been under repair for 25+ years at 'Casino' stop so does not take you directly to Carthage and Sidi Bou Said.

In general, the staff was really friendly and sweet but on top of that they were also extremely helpful with the many requests that I had when organizing my sisters birthday that was happening during our trip. BIG shout out to Mr. Lotfi who is extremely hospitable, kind and always made an effort to make us comfortable while always maintaining professional. He was also very helpful with the organization of our trip, places to go, etc. which made him very reliable. He definitely played a big part in making this an unforgettable trip for us and we will definitely recommend the hotel to others making a trip to Tunis.

Great location right next to the entrance to the souk. All of the staff was incredible. Friendly and accommodating to our needs. The breakfast buffet was good with lots of choices. The café below was a great place to hang out. The hotel was historic and the decor was very interesting. Overall, it was a nice time there for 3 nights.

Overall, everything was nice. The mattress was a little old, and the refrigerator didn't cool very well. It really didn't make much difference though as we slept well and we went downstairs to the café if we needed a cold drink. Taking our luggage in and out was a little difficult as parking was at a premium, but we managed with help from the staff.

We were very happy to begin our discovery of Tunisia with our new friends at Hotel Royal Victoria. From the messages we exchanged in advance of our arrival, to the minute we showed up, we knew we would be in good hands. A perfect location at the immediate entrance of the madina. Lotfi and his team were kind, welcoming, generous, and professional. Lotfi went above and beyond to ensure we always knew where to go and how to find our way back to the hotel. We stayed in contact with Lotfi as we travelled through Tunis for 2 weeks as he also offered to ensure we found our way from city to city! Very rare you find this type of hospitality and care. The front desk staff and security were simply amazing. We were very happy to have Omar constantly available in the evenings as we went out and about throughout the madina. We enjoyed meeting Omaima who wished us well on our last day ensuring we located our driver to Kairouan. The hospitality staff that cared for our room as Omaima, very kind and caring. The breakfast was simple, cute, and healthy!!! I believe her name was Rabi that took care of us all three days. At the footsteps of the madina, we had the convenience to frequent the shops, food, cafes, shisha, and the Zaytouni Mosque. This property is conveniently located in the market, and yet a 10-15 minute walk from the typical downtown heart of Tunis where you can find the tram, lounge, bus, and train stations. Nothing to really report negative about the hotel experience, the room was simply CUTE!!! I would consider a somewhat larger room facing centre of the Bab el Baher, with a walk out veranda… but that will be for next time! Thank you new friends at Hotel Royal Victoria!!!

Wow excellent Hotel full of history and in a great location The staff were excellent would stay again i was in Tunis

Coffee at breakfast very poor quality for the price range of this hotel. If u want a proper coffee for an example an espresso or Americano u have to pay a extra 6 Dinar which is very expensive most pricey coffee In the city it should be free for the price of a room. We went outside took a sharp left and walked down the street for about 50m there is a coffee shop called Black Coffee excellent coffee and service and only 2/2.5 Dinar and u can take it out or drink in
