We were staying because we had a function booked in the hall. The staff involved in the function were excellent and attentive. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. If you are considering holding a function at the oysterfleet, we could not fault the service nor the facilities.

The room was extremely hot despite the staff supplying a fan and us bringing our own. The windows opened, but the room was above the kitchen extractor, so we smelled food all day and evening. The shower was powerful and easily controlled, but the bathroom and the room were in need of freshening up. Other friends in our party stayed in the further side of the hotel and their rooms looked as though they had been newly decorated so, maybe they are doing some at a time.

I asked for a room overlooking the lake and had a good view. I suspect it probably wasn’t one of their best rooms but they fulfilled my request. The garden is noisy during the evening but no problem as it shuts at 10. There was a lot of chatting and noise at 1.30 am in a room nearby though which woke me. I can’t be sure but suspect it might have been the owners going to bed so maybe my room choice wasn’t the best. Great to be able to walk around the lake early morning, which is over 1 mile, and a lovely lady on reception organised a good breakfast. Lots of birds to see including the egret that stood on the rail outside the conservatory whilst I had breakfast

Being woken in the night

The young receptionist who manned the desk at about midday on 7 May 25 (sorry I don't know her name, perhaps a name badge would help?) was extremely helpful, with a joyful personality she made me feel really welcome.

Whoops, probably not your fault but worth mentioning. Every time I stay at the Oyster Fleet I have to have a ground floor room allocated as I cannot get up and down stairs. I had requested such a room through Booking.com but it appeared this request had not been forwarded to you, I will ring in future as I will be visiting several times a year.

We stayed there for a friend's wedding that was being held there. Fortunately, the ceremony didn't start until 4 p.m. so we had plenty of time to have a very enjoyable lunch, check in, and have time for my wife and stepdaughter to finish off getting ready. The double room was very spacious, so much so, that the standard sized double bed looked very small ! The bathroom was also spacious, but there wasn't any electric sockets for a shaver or electric toothbrush charger. Breakfast was very good as well.

Location, convenient for visiting my family on the island. Reasonable value for money. Comfortable mattress. Room was clean and was serviced each day. Nice bedding and towels. Very nice staff on reception and servicing rooms. Didn’t have breakfast as family looked after me.

Room on top floor was quite hot. No aircon but guess at the price can’t expect it ? Didn’t ask staff for a fan. They may have fans for guests? Bought my own for twenty quid in the High St as we needed a new one at home anyhow. No wifi in room only in the bar area. Bathroom window was jammed shut and extractor fan didn’t work so bathroom got bit steamy. Apparently there is subsidence which has jammed some windows shut.

Room wasn’t very welcoming. Overwhelming smell of bleach! Cold! Smell of bleach should indicate cleanliness, however, bits on the carpet, bathroom vanity and mirror had marks all over it and someone else’s hair!! TV was thick dust, not very pleasant. Mattress on the very small double bed was like sleeping on a rock! Plastic chair in the room felt clinical. Decor also very cold and inviting. But as it’s pretty much the only hotel I doubt they’ll bother to improve things!

Second visit to hotel (about a year apart). Staff are all very friendly. Hotel is situated a short walk from town. Food (breakfast & other) were both cooked perfectly. Room was a good size for a twin. Has everything needed & good amount of in room refreshments, so could have more than 1 cup of tea/coffee each, lovely handsoap and moisturiser and shampoo/body wash! Enough towels, mat, bath mat, water hot, heater in bathroom too, and radiator could be turned up or down easily. Had everything needed for the visit.

Room was nice, and clean. They serve lovely food, especially Angela's Steakhouse which is adjoined to The Oyster Fleet, the steak burger was delicious, and my husband had a steak which he thought was delicious also. The staff were very nice and friendly, which made our stay all the better.

Although the bed was a good bed, both my husband and I just didn't find it that comfortable, mattress was a bit too firm for our liking.

All the staff were helpful, friendly and welcoming. Most particularly the receptionist on duty on Saturday afternoon (15 March). The accommodation was spacious and clean and the bar was lively with helpful, friendly staff

No-one had thought to put on the radiators in the room before I arrived and it was absolutely freezing. Took a few hours to warm the room. I wasn't very happy having to climb into a bath in order to take a shower.

I actually come from the area so this hotel has always been a location for family functions when i was younger. Having moved away many years ago i was delighted to see its the same family value hotel, with great service and lovely food. The staff just make it and for the price you are charged I feel its good value for money. Again the staff are so helpful and welcoming I would highly recommend if you are looking to stay in the area.

Wifi in the rooms would be a help. As i have a dog I would have liked to bring him. Having said that this did not in anyway affect our stay
