Excellent location. Nice reception, bar and breakfast area. We had a room on level 3 with a balcony that we could sit out on - lovely! Aircon doesn’t work well in the rooms so being able to open the door and have the fan on was very helpful. Good that the electricity in the room worked without having to stick the card in the wall. Lovely staff.

None of these are dislikes, just things that could be improved. The bed only had one pillow per person - two would be better as standard. Room cleaning is now by request, which I actually prefer, but it would be good to be given ample toilet roll rather than having to keep asking for it. A leaflet in the room giving key info would have been useful - eg breakfast time, check out time, what you can request from reception etc. Gluten free provision for breakfast was good but a bit dependent on who was working that day and how busy they were. A standard gluten free menu to order from would make things easier.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Was able to give us an adapted room as I’m a wheelchair user, even though the room wasn’t available on Booking.com. Fantastic views and very comfortable rooms.

Parking is an issue. Staff recommend guests use the shopping centre car park across the road (at £20 for 24 hours). This car park has a height limit of 2m. I have a Motability WAV (wheelchair accessible vehicle) which is 2.4m high. We managed to find a Southend Council car park just around the corner which allows Blue Badge users to park for free without time limit. Staff didn’t seem to know this but I’m sure I’m not alone in having an issue parking my adapted vehicle.

Good location, staff very helpful in all departments. Our room on 5th floor was very large. Staff and food at breakfast were both good. Bathroom was clean and the bed linen also. Everything worked and towels nice and clean too.

Our room was very large, but rather empty? So it didn’t feel very welcoming or relaxing - easily room for a couple of chairs? Sadly the carpet (although hoovered) had awful stains all around the room, the carpet didn’t look old, but the stains were extensive and rather off putting tbh, which we felt let the hotel’s standards down quite badly.

Surprised about how clean and tidy it was didn’t expect to be so nice very nice place grill and bar is lovely with a lovely sea view gym facility on floor 5 was a big enough room good music But it says it’s pet friendly only allowed dogs we have a baby kitten could not bring but bigs dogs are allowed little kitten eat sleep but hey hoe apart from that very nice hotel

Everything also it’s good that they don’t have a curfew so you can come and go as you please through the night in case you wanna watch the sea or view at night as you leave the hotel to the left the sea view is there as your on the hill top

My room was very spacious with all the basic requirements for a short stay, the bed was reasonably comfortable & a few more pillows would have been suitable for a better night's sleep. The bathroom is very well designed & both the bath as well as the shower are spacious when used, thought a slip mat would be useful as a precaution. The t.v has a wide selection of choices, but would often be interrupted by signal disruption which would disturb viewing. I included breakfast during my stay & found the choice of dishes very commendable, the staff would be constantly trying to replenish dishes that are popular & would be asking quests if they required any specific requirements. On a few nights I had dinner, I found it very tasty & though the choices may seem limited it is suitable for long weekends, the staff where extremely friendly & would be glad to assist when required but did not intrude when you needed privacy.

I took the train and walked from Southend Central - about 10 minutes to reach the hotel. When I left I took the Southend Victoria, about a 15 minute walk. Front desk staff were friendly and efficient. I had a large room on the top floor overlooking the sea, pier, and amusement park. There was a kettle plus tea, coffee, and hot chocolate. Air conditioning worked fine, but at some point when it's on high fan after a set amount of time it auto goes to the low fan setting. Hotel is in a great location, very close to many cafes, shops, amusements, and seaside walks. Liked the lemon water, fruit, and candies available in the lobby.

There was NOT a laptop safe in the room as advertised. There was NO safe at all - laptop size or not. Lose a rating star for false advertising. The carpet was in bad shape, torn and in need of replacing. In a couple of spots hot glue had been used for a shoddy repair which only gave it the appearance of something really nasty that was stuck on the carpet and can't be shampooed or cleaned. Lose another rating star for the bedraggled carpet. Hotel was overpriced for a room with a nasty carpet, no safe, and no wardrobe.

A bit disappointing. First day not much of a selection. The marmalade and jam pots were empty and needed a clean. The second day we were earlier and more of a selection but needed filling up rather than asking for them to be. Decaffeinated coffee was not readily available had to ask again and for more milk.

To eat in the restaurant like the large parties. Then to be told only one chef on and a half an hour wait at least. The last thing the parking situation was not good cost us £50 for two nights stay and your website did not mention the parking.

This was an alternative hotel to what we originally booked at short notice, and so glad the other hotel messed up (wns south end) as we Really loved this hotel, Tthe friendly welcoming at this hotel, and jokes aswell. Its nice to recieve a welcome from normal persons behind the reception desk. And not some snotty receptionist. We stayed in the superior room. And it was lovely. Very big indeed. Was clean, all the items we needed. Private Balcony was lovely overlooking the adventure island. This was not 5star. For the price we paid it meet all our needs and more and a lovely night was had. Literally on the door step of all the fun for arcades ect The superior rooms are the rooms to the side of the building shown in the picture. Will defiantly be booking again.

Everything was good

The bedroom had everything you needed. Was very large with a lovely view right out over the pier. Breakfast was very good. Great choice. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

The carpets look filthy, even though I think they are clean but badly stained. The skirting boards have chunks out of them, as do the edges of the doors. The lifts are very rickety. TV remote seemed to be out of batteries in the room. Shower head bracket no longer held the shower head up so you had to tilt it up to 90 degrees or it sprayed on to the wall behind. No stopper on bathroom door so metal handle smashes in to shower glass. This will be a multi million pound job if they want to bring up the standard

Great place, with a view of the pier and the sea. The amusement park right outside the window is a funny bonus, especially when it plays the same music for a while (meant in a good way). Very pleasant and accommodating staff. Excellent location in the heart of the city. The amazing feeling was enhanced by the look and atmosphere reminiscent of Hercule Poirot movies, especially the terrace with decorative beams - truly perfect spot for a morning coffee or working on a laptop, or just enjoying the vibe.
