From the start when arriving at the hotel we were welcomed with a really nice greeting and a very kind staff member at the front desk. He gave us directions and showed us some very nice places to eat out as a couple together which we very much took the advice from. The room as we arrived was clean and tidy, I asked the hotel prior to booking if they could provide me and my wife cocktails in the room on arrival and they did for our anniversary. The balcony out into the square was fantastic and provided much entertainment hearing the buzz of people and music at night, it was fabulous. Even with that noise, the windows closed it was silent and peaceful and we slept really well. The beds were really comfy and the shower/bathroom was fab. Breakfast deserves its own rating and box, it was fantastic. Could not ask for more, there was such variety especially for gluten free like myself. The coffee was fantastic, the staff were really helpful and the room where we ate was really nice. It was such a fab place to get your day started eating in there.

Nothing, everything was perfect!

In a city like Porto nothing is in a perfect location as the daily destinations vary a lot but this was about as close to a perfect location as can be, close to the river front but also the uphill areas. The staff was fantastic. Kind and helpful. The breakfast was very, very good, buffet with a lot of variety and of high quality. The room (309) was fabulous, large and comfortable enough to enjoy the city for two weeks!

Porto has a million tourists nowadays. For them there are a lot of restaurants, (very good) buskers, bars, i.E. reasons to be jolly. Thus if you are an early sleeper, you will need ear plugs. This applies to every hotel in the old town, mind you.

Location was great - right in the middle of a vibrant square. Walkable to all of the main sights in Porto! Front reception staff were very friendly. We were able to check in a bit early which was very much appreciated. We had the breakfast package and one day we were leaving for a tour prior to breakfast being open and they prepared us “takeaway” breakfast boxes. Our room was super clean and efficient. Our room overlooked the square which has live music until 10PM.

You do hear the live music from your room from about 10am - 10pm. I enjoyed it, but just a note if someone is looking for a more quiet atmosphere.

We stayed at Porto A.S. 1829 Hotel for just two nights, but the experience was truly exceptional. The location couldn't be better—centrally situated and within walking distance of all the city's historic landmarks. It's easily accessible by train and surrounded by great restaurants and tourist attractions. The room was cozy, with a comfortable bed and soft, high-quality linens that made for a restful stay. One of the highlights was a wonderful surprise from the hotel staff. They somehow found out it was my partner’s birthday and surprised us with a decadent flourless chocolate cake and a bottle of champagne, delivered personally to our room. It was such a thoughtful and memorable gesture. Although we didn’t try the breakfast, we appreciated the convenience of the elevators, which were always available when needed. Overall, a charming stay with personalized touches that made it feel extra special. Would definitely return!

Best location if you want to be near the Ribeira and main attractions. I stayed 2 nights during the busiest weekend of the year, the Sao Jao festival. The Ribeira area was completely pack of people enjoying the nice area and good weather. The hotel was only 10 minutes walking distance; close enough to enjoy and far enough from the heavy crowds (due to festival). Also walking distance to main attractions in Porto and across the bridge to visit wineries at Vila Nova de Gaia. The hotel was in general very nice and nicely decorated. My room was above expectations: great size, comfy bed, nice view facing the Ribeira area, good bathroom size. Free porto wine and pasteles de nata at the lobby. Very attentive personnel and very good breakfast. At night, when all restaurant were full, the hotel restaurant saved me a place and food/wine/attention was 5-star. I would definitely recommend and stay again. Next time for 3 or more nights. The hotel does not have a parking but there is public payed parking 300 meters from the hotel.

Everything was above my expectations.

The location is amazing. Very well located for everything you need as a traveler, walkable to great restaurants, museums, and other attractions. Highly recommend it to get to know the amazing city of Porto.

I wish the hotel had a cafe.

Location was central and walkable to most of the sites and shopping area. Also very close to the Sao Bento train station. A taxi ride to the Camphana bus station though. The room although not big, was very comfortable and bright with plenty of hangers and coffee/tea facilities. The bathroom also not large but had lovely soaps and creams supplied, the shower was great and linen was fresh and good quality.

We had a room overlooking the cafes so be prepared for loud music being played from midday til midnight! Or ask for a room on the other side of the building.

The staff were absolutely amazing, so friendly and went above and beyond! I’m a wheelchair user and they were amazing (there are two entrances, one with steps and one with 4 steps) with helping me get in and out with ease. The rooms are beautiful and much much bigger than I expected, with amazing views! We unfortunately didn’t have the time to eat at the hotel’s restaurant, but the food looked great and it was always busy - wish we made the time to try it out! Everything about the hotel exceed my expectations!

The location of Hotel is excellent, everything in walking distance and easy to access other modes of transport e.g Metro and train station. Don't be put off about the street buskers around the areas as finish at 10pm. The staff are very friendly and helpful regarding restaurant recommendations, taxis/directions etc -standard of English is high! The breakfast is very good, freshly stocked and lots of variety -catering for all tastes. The staff are very efficient, friendly and attentive.

Its a very small criticism but the Bath/shower commination didn't work for us. It's a free standing arrangement which looks great but not practicable! Difficulties working controls, wet floors and getting in and out a little dangerous for elderly. More storage - shelves -hooks and hanging space.
