Let me start off by saying, Village Hotel (Chilwell) was my first stay at a hotel. I was not sure what to expect, and I was pleasantly surprised. The staff members are incredible, responsive, friendly, and kind. The hotel itself is neat, and the Starbucks, pub, and gym an added bonus. I opted for the club room option, with the free breakfast. The room: Large, clean, and the bed absolutely heavenly. The bathroom is spacious as well, though I found the shower slightly impractical, but great after a long day of Download aka Dustload 2025 sun, and dirt. While a fan was provided, the room I was assigned was immensely hot. The window could not be opened at night, due to the amount of spiders outside the window— this may be a me-thing. Apart from that, the room overlooked the swimming pool area, and the early morning classes will wake you if you are a light sleeper, so request a room not overlooking the pool/gym side. I'm a newbie, hence I didn't think to request this before my stay. I will say it again, THE BED IS HEAVENLY. Breakfast: Baked goods, breads, a warm breakfast, or fruits, yoghurts, and bottomless coffee. Definitely add this to your stay, as it is worthwhile for the small extra. Gym/Pool: I didn't use the pool, and stopped by the gym only once during my stay. It gets busy. If you are looking to unwind in an unpacked space, instructors will happily tell you when the quieter hours are. Pub: Try the fish, and chips. It is worth it. Lastly, while it is considered further out, and seems to be one of the last places booked during Download weekend. I want to assure anyone reading this looking for accommodation that it is not only affordable, but ideal. The bus-stop is a short 5-minute walk from the hotel, and at night you catch the same bus from the shuttle/bus pick-up zone. Enjoy a restful sleep, and hot shower at The Village Hotel, before you brave the dust and/or rain. I will definitely rebook at The Village Hotel.
Small suggestion, while cleaning services are offered, something like a toilet brush to be used by the guest if/when needed would be a lovely touch. As well as increasing the toilet tissue/essentials to match the length/duration of the guest's stay.

The room was very clean, and I really appreciated the thoughtful touch of having the blinds down upon arrival—especially considering the hot weather in the UK. I always enjoy staying at this hotel in Nottingham. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and Sarah from housekeeping consistently goes above and beyond to ensure guests are well accommodated. This is my fourth visit, and each time has been just as excellent as the last—never a disappointment. - Robert Jan
I always choose this hotel when traveling from the Netherlands—everything about it is great!

Lovely welcome and made to feel at home. Good easy check in. Good information on times meal started and directions to event. Room lovely in new extended part of hotel. Friendly cleaning staff who helped when we got lost trying to find reception.
I mentioned we were celebrating my friends Birthday. I thought they could put a card or balloon on the table as we celebrated at the Soul & Mowtown night tribute act. But nothing was done. I do appreciate the fact this was short notice so I let it go. We also got a note under the door stating I owed £5 pounds for spa and gym which we didn't use and an email stating i needed to pay before I leave. On checking out she said this was all included and should not have happened and deleted the changes so it was dealt with immediately which was brilliant. Got lost a few times coming and going from room, needs better signage as I'm sure this would confuse anyone.

The staff were fabulous, there were convenient facilities for food and drink in the foyer, the lift was quick and efficient. My friends from overseas were staying in another room with Assisted facilities, they didn’t realise that the orange pull cords were for emergency assistance and were wondering why the light wasn’t working, when the poor first aider crashed through their door. Sincere apologies for the false alarm, however full marks for a Rapid Response complete with defibrillator. It might possibly be an idea to clearly mark these as emergency cords for the more dimwitted guest.😂 With respect to possible improvement, I would request a choice of thick or thin pillows as none of the ones I had were comfortable for me and I would also request a couple of glasses in the room as there was nowhere to stand my toothbrush or to put a drink beside the bed. No doubt had I asked Reception at the time these small issues would’ve been resolved. One thing I found particularly inconvenient was the lack of a phone connection to Reception in the room. I had to look up your phone number in Google Maps and dial it on my own phone in order to request a replacement kettle for the one in my room, which wasn’t working.
Room was clean and comfortable but the dividing wall between my room and the next was so thin, that I awakened to my neighbour’s alarm! The neighbour’s television disturbed me and you could hear every word spoken. I was surprised that in an “assisted room” the bed was very low. When my husband was alive we might have booked one of these rooms due to his illness, however he would never have been able to get back up from such a low bed.

Booked the larger club room which came with many wonderful benefits and felt very nicely private despite being a hotel room. I loved the layout and facilities! My partner was spoilt for his birthday and the staff were so sweet setting up balloons and giving him a free pint at the pub and grill downstairs. It's really an amazing place! Food at the pub and grill was wonderful! We both had burgers and dessert and found it fantastic! The pool is beautiful and relaxing and parking and turning up was smooth sailing. The quality and kind staff really make the place a go-to that I would love to stay at again!
I think there was a bit of confusion towards the food allowance from the room I booked but showed staff my booking reference email at reception and they got it all sorted for me quickly and without making me feel silly for getting confused. A few things were broken such as the milk running out on the coffee machine at breakfast but the staff were so quick and friendly to give a solution and work extra to make everyone happy.

For me, it was the staff, and how they answered any questions I raised: was impeccable: the service was first class :
Not a matter of what I did not like, just location of my room: I am not disabled, but I do have a foot that swells alot when walking: and hurts a little....virtually every time I book at the village hotel Nottingham, my room is so far from reception: ( I broke my foot years ago,,,,it could not be repaired, as it was too badly broken: I can walk, just when I rest and start walking I limp slightly for about 40 meters.....

Staff at breakfast couldn't do enough for me, so helpful with allergies, all done with a friendly face rather than the usual eye roll. Room was nice, bed comfortable. Shower easy to use and lovely and hot.
The chair was covered in off-putting stains in my room, looked like it definitely needed a clean. The price almost doubled since the last time I stayed. I appreciate it is nearer Christmas but as I was staying after a Christmas party tribute night, it was disappointing to not get the same discounts. The lighting in the bedroom was excessive but not useful...it needs more light near the mirror area.

The bed was SOOOOO comfortable, I’m buying that topper for sure. The room was lovely and big. The only strange thing about the room is there’s no safe. The water was nice and hot. Clean shower & bathroom. The breakfast was diabolical tho, the food wasn’t that nice either. The drinks are over priced. I won’t be eating at other villages just because of the price. The gym & pool facilities are amazing. The male lifeguard was unnecessarily aggressive though. I might stay again.
The aggressive lifeguard. The food. The drink prices.

Very convenient for us to visit family. Lovely helpful staff.
The last time we were in room 134 I did mention in my feedbach that the bed/ mattress was not good especially on the side facing the bathroom. The bed should be the best for the price we pay! If we don’t buy breakfast with the app/ pre book it’s way to expensive. I think guests should be able to decide in the morning if they need breakfast. It was a pain having to do the apo etc before going in to get it for £10!
